13 Insanely Fun (and Affordable) Wedding Ideas from Etsy

05/12/2016 by Karen

13-insanely-fun-and-affordable-wedding-ideas
It goes without saying that every wedding is special and unique – but one thing that our Smashing the Glass couples tend to have in common is their commitment to making their wedding as individual as they are with some lovely unique dettails. Even after all these years and countless real weddings, we never cease to be surprised by a new and original detail that we haven’t come across before. That ethos is the reason we’re such huge fans of Etsy.

Etsy is a place of endless imagination. Small businesses and sellers lovingly craft a mixture of fashion-forward and traditional wedding wares, which can often then be personalised by the couple to create a one-off wedding-day treasure. While would never dream of denying you the joy of a long Etsy hunt, we have come across a few gems lately that we just couldn’t keep to ourselves. Here are thirteen of our favourite affordable, creative Etsy wedding finds.

1. Have your wedding logo made into a rubber stamp £12

Have a custom stamp made with your wedding logo and have fun branding all the different details of your big day! It’s amazing how simple this is to do and how much fun you can have doing it (FYI I wrote a whole post on how to brand your big day with a logo here.)

2. Create a custom slogan veil  £37

Say it loud and proud with a slogan veil. This double layered, shoulder-length veil is handmade to order with the word or phrase of your choice (up to 12 characters). I love the idea of having one with your new married name on it!

3. Create a personalised cake topper £65

8 must-have items for a memorable Jewish wedding ceremony

20/11/2015 by Karen

Jewish wedding ceremony
I started  Smashing The Glass back in May 2013 because I wanted to create the blog I wish I’d had access to when I was planning my own Jewish wedding. When I was planning my big day, I felt that there was a total lack  of Jewish wedding inspiration that wasn’t  ‘old fashioned schmaltz’. And when it came to planning an individual  and personal  Jewish wedding ceremony,  this was particularly relevant.

One of the most popular pages on the blog is my constantly updated chuppah ideas page with literally hundreds of cool, creative ideas for you to peruse through and be inspired by. Today I’ve gone a step further and picked out  an edit of some of the most gorgeous products  for  under the chuppah  in my quest to help you infuse  your Jewish wedding ceremony with beauty, individuality  and creativity. At the end of the post there are also several links to help you source some really fabulous  music for your Jewish (or Jew-ish!) wedding ceremony  too.

Hope you’re inspired. Happy Friday!

1.  Smash Pouch (coming soon)

I named  the blog  Smashing The Glass  because I absolutely  adore the celebratory Jewish wedding tradition of the  breaking the glass at the end of the ceremony so I just had  to create this personalised bag to house the glass. And guess what?! I will very shortly be selling these personalised ‘smash pouches’ for you to break  your glass in style, and have a beautiful keepsake  from your ceremony! Sign up here to be the first to know when they go on sale.

I love the clean lines of this kiddush cup designed by Jennifer Raichman  and the beautifully calligraphed Hebrew and English  typography
