How to get the most out of your wedding flowers with Mary Jane Vaughan, one of the UK’s top florists

17/03/2014 by Karen

Chuppah Grove Continuing with ‘The Wedding Smashers‘ series where I interview some of the best in the business, today I’m delighted to be talking to  STG favourite, Mary Jane Vaughan,  all about getting the most out of your wedding flowers as well as what it takes to run a successful floristry business.

Mary Jane and her team have shared loads of invaluable wedding flower ideas and insights that I’m sure are going to help and inspire you all the way to your big day. You’re gonna love this…

Who is the Mary Jane Vaughan bride? What is her style and aesthetic?

Our brides vary hugely, so this is a really tough one. I would say that they all share a love of flowers and that the flowers that they choose for their wedding are truly important to them. Our style is romantic, timeless and elegant so it is traditionally brides who share these values that seek us out. Our style of floristry appeals to them. She’s a bride who loves simple, unfussy designs and candle light.

Win a stunning Mary Jane Vaughan Bouquet worth up to £125 and tickets to Brides the Show

14/02/2014 by Sharon

Mary Jane Vaughan Competiton

As the newest member of the STG team, I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to try and ingratiate myself with you all, by giving you a chance to win an absolutely fabulous bouquet from top London florist,  Mary Jane Vaughan Designs (worth £125) and a pair of tickets, worth £40, to the best wedding show out there – Condà©  Nast’s Brides the Show  on March 22nd & 23rd 2014.

But I must admit to a tinge of sadness. You see there are two things that make me slightly wince about my own London winter wedding in 2010 – the flowers and the absence, at the time, of a really elegant, hands-on wedding show to give me proper inspiration and ideas. I’d love to take two and do it all over again (with the same man, I promise!)

Don’t get me wrong I absolutely loved every minute of my snowy wedding – the ceremony in Marylebone and the Thames-side reception – but I’ve always regretted scrimping on the flowers. And in the hurry to get my husband down the aisle, the 5 month preparation time I had, didn’t give me the opportunity to shop about as I would now. The Condà©  Nast Brides the Show didn’t exist then alas as it would have been perfect!
