Real Jewish Brides: How Juliette Chose Her Florist

14/08/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Juliette will be marrying Matt on 9th November 2019 at Ashford Estate in Allentown, New Jersey, USA. Click here to read all Juliette’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Juliette and Matt met in Hebrew school when they were 16 – aww! (2) Juliette and Matt are both Jewish, but they are having a Jew-ish wedding – Juliette’s dad’s side of the family is Catholic, and they want to make sure everyone feels included on the day. (3) Juliette is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club – and she calls STG her “secret weapon” in wedding planning!

Major win: the florist!

My wedding is quickly approaching and this week has made it abundantly clear. Matt and I had some time off of work and we spent the week gathering wedding planning wins. Our major win this week was the florist.

I met and decided to use Adam Leffel Productions about a year ago when I was first beginning my planning. I was obsessed with the visual impact of the day. As I combed through Instagram and Pinterest I became a complete psycho flipping through pictures of floral arrangements, table settings, chairs, lighting and production.

So quick reminder, I have never been to a wedding. When you are researching and planning, food and music are not what you see on Instagram. Now before every Jewish mother jumps from their seat, I did make sure to give focus to those two important parts of the puzzle. We put our parents in charge of food and hired a trusted DJ for all the dancing festivities.

Real Jewish Brides: Nargiz’s #NoRegrets Bachelorette Party in Vegas

07/08/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Nargiz will be marrying Ryan on 9th November 2019 at Farmington Hills Manor, in Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA. Click here to read all Nargiz’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Nargiz was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, and the wedding will combine her family’s traditions – they are Mountain Jews, or Gorski, and their culture is a mix of Persian and Middle Eastern influences – and Ryan’s American Ashkenazi background. (2) Nargiz’s mother tragically passed away last summer, so she has been facing wedding planning without her mom by her side. (3) Nargiz is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

Final Check Off

We’ve been engaged for a year now and we have less than 4 months to go.  So far throughout the wedding planning process, I never felt rushed or stressed because we have had so much time. It has been really nice to have the time to pick and choose vendors, to take the time to make calls and meet with people.

I met with my wedding planner June from A June Event last week. We went over a rough timeline of the wedding day and he gave me a list of things I still need to complete. So now that it is getting closer to the wedding day, I need to cross off more and more things off our to do list. Last week was a super productive week thanks to my planner who pushed me to do more like booking valet, party bus, shuttle service for the out of town guests, challah bread, our ketubah, etc.

Real Jewish Brides: Jaime’s Putting the Finishing Touches on Her Hindu-Jewish Wedding

31/07/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Jaime will be marrying Varun on 26th October 2019 at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, California, USA. Click here to read all Jaime’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Jaime and Varun will be having a Jewish ceremony AND a Hindu ceremony – on the same day! (2) They’re planning a swanky but not stuffy wedding at one of our fave California venues, Hummingbird Nest Ranch! (3) Jaime is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

3 months to go

Hi everyone! I’m excited to update you all on what we’ve been up to the last several weeks! It feels like all of a sudden things are happening so fast. We have just over 3 months to go and so much has to happen before then! Now, more than ever I am so grateful that we invested in such a high quality wedding planner to keep us on track. I have no idea where I’d be without her guidance!

Real Jewish Brides: Lindsay’s Savoring Her Last Weeks as a Bride-to-Be

25/07/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Lindsay, a member of Smashing The Glass’ Brides Club, will be marrying Dan on 25th August 2019 at Kochav Hayam in Caesarea, Israel. Click here to read all Lindsay’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Lindsay and Dan were set up by Lindsay’s cousin! (2) They are planning an English-style destination wedding with a few modern twists in Caesarea, Israel. (3) Even though they are both Jewish, Lindsay is more interested in the religious element of the day than Dan, so they are working to balance tradition with their personal style – our favorite!

4 weeks to go – yay!

So this is my last post before I get married! At the time of writing this, we’re six weeks out. We got engaged in March 2018, so we’ve had a fairly long engagement and it took so long to get to 6 months and now all of a sudden it’s 4 weeks to go. Time has literally disappeared!

What I’ve found in these last few weeks is how much people love giving a bride attention. It’s just the best, and every bride should 100% take full advantage of it.

I had my hen weekend a few weeks ago which was a weekend full of Prosecco, dancing and a very attractive half naked gentleman (who left very little to the imagination). The girls who planned it did an excellent job and it really gave me a taste of how it feels being centre of attention.

Different cultures, religions and ethnic backgrounds

In today’s world, it is very common for people of different cultures, religions and ethnic backgrounds to cross paths. It’s not like how things used to be 100 years ago in Russia, Azerbaijan or nearby countries. Back then, people stayed in the same city and town where their parents were born, and where their grandparents were raised. As a result, people and different cultures were not integrated as much.

Today, more and more people have moved their families to different cities, countries and even different continents. Everyone has their own reason to do so.
