Real Jewish Brides: How Nargiz Picked Out The Right Vendors

14/05/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Nargiz will be marrying Ryan on 9th November 2019 at Farmington Hills Manor, in Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA. Click here to read all Nargiz’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Nargiz was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, and the wedding will combine her family’s traditions – they are Mountain Jews, or Gorski, and their culture is a mix of Persian and Middle Eastern influences – and Ryan’s American Ashkenazi background. (2) Nargiz’s mother tragically passed away last summer, so she has been facing wedding planning without her mom by her side. (3) Nargiz is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

How I choose my vendors

Nobody tells you the amount of time goes into finding and picking out the right vendors for your wedding, and that’s probably because everyone has a different experience.

Whether it is picking out the right band, photographer, videographer, florist, planner, hair stylist, makeup artist (the list is endless), some brides (and grooms) need only meet with one company and choose them.

Others, on the other hand (like me), have to meet and/or talk to at least three different companies or individuals before making up my mind.

Real Jewish Brides: Jaime’s Pre-Wedding Photoshoot and Wedding Planning Update

07/05/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Jaime will be marrying Varun on 26th October 2019 at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, California, USA. Click here to read all Jaime’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Jaime and Varun will be having a Jewish ceremony AND a Hindu ceremony – on the same day! (2) They’re planning a swanky but not stuffy wedding at one of our fave California venues, Hummingbird Nest Ranch! (3) Jaime is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

A pre-wedding photo shoot in a natural wonder

It’s been a little while since I’ve blogged but so much has been happening and I can’t wait to share it with you!

I am literally writing this as I’m at the airport coming from our amazing pre-wedding photo shoot that we did with our photographer, Clane Gessel.

When we signed up with Clane, he told us we could do a pre wedding photoshoot to anywhere in the US and when we saw the photos he had done at White Sands Beach NM – we knew we had to do it there.

White Sands Beach is a sight to be seen – there is nothing like it as it is a true natural wonder. We got the most amazing shots and had the best time shooting with Clane and his assistant Chloe.

Here is a sneak peek from the shoot…

Real Jewish Brides: Lindsay Talks About Her Trip To Israel

30/04/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Lindsay, a member of Smashing The Glass’ Brides Club, will be marrying Dan on 25th August 2019 at Kochav Hayam in Caesarea, Israel. Click here to read all Lindsay’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Lindsay and Dan were set up by Lindsay’s cousin! (2) They are planning an English-style destination wedding with a few modern twists in Caesarea, Israel. (3) Even though they are both Jewish, Lindsay is more interested in the religious element of the day than Dan, so they are working to balance tradition with their personal style – our favorite!

A week in Israel

What a week we had in Israel! Dan and I boarded the plane with mixed feelings of excitement (hooray, we’re going to plan our wedding) and extreme nervousness (we’re going to plan our wedding in one week with both sets of fairly opinionated parents who haven’t met any of the suppliers that we have already chosen!)

Vicki, our wedding planner, had prepared a thorough itinerary for us, with everything from food tastings and meetings with the band to spray tans and nail appointments – you really can’t leave anything to chance when it comes to your wedding day!

We arrived to the most miserable weather I’ve ever seen in Israel. It was freezing and pouring with rain – not exactly what I had in mind. Thank goodness I had checked the forecast before we left and went emergency shopping so I was able to channel my ‘wedding planning in the rain chic.’

A Sharon Cunningham Bride for a Jewish Interfaith Wedding with a Feather Chuppah at The Hyatt Churchill Hotel, London, UK

24/04/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

We see a lot of chuppah designs here at STG. But today’s Jew-ish wedding’s got one that’s totally new to us: a feather chuppah!

Jay, a fitness instructor and head trainer at F45 Camden (and one of our wonderful real blogging brides), and Tom, who works in recruitment at Facebook, wanted something their guests hadn’t seen before, and we’re pretty sure they succeeded. The wild feathered top paired with the clean translucent columns make for such a striking look.

The chic style – not to mention the emotion and fun of the day – was captured perfectly by Paul Toeman Photographers and Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Denee Motion on video. Watching their fab trailer makes us feel like we were right there in the thick of it.

And this is one wedding we truly do wish we could have attended. Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor the Function Band knows how to throw a party – the couple reports that guests packed the dancefloor all night, and that even months after the big day people are still telling them how awesome their band was. Bradley of the Function Band also served as the day-of coordinator, and managed the day so that Jay and Rom could sit back and relax.

Now over to the bride…

How we met

Jay, the bride: We met on Tinder just over 5 years ago, I don’t think either one of us thought that with the swipe of a finger you could find your soulmate but for us it worked. We are an amazing team, support each other through anything!

Real Jewish Brides: 82 days to go, and Rebekkah is plotzing

23/04/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Rebekkah will be marrying Jakob on 11th July 2019 at The Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. Click here to read all Rebekkah’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Rebekkah and Jakob were introduced by mutual friends while Jakob, who is from Germany, was in Rebekkah’s hometown of Calgary on a specialized work visa. (2) They are getting married at a beautiful mountain resort in a national park in Alberta, Canada! (3) Rebekkah is a “very satisfied member” (her words) of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

82 days and counting to my big day, I’m just plotzing!

Wedding planning up to this point… beseder, so my last blog post left me sorting out my wedding program. Thank goodness my future mother-in-law owns a graphics and printing company so she volunteered to translate our wedding program and print it for us. So now I am trying to decide if I should put a little time frame of the day on the program. Just so it will be like painfully obvious the time flow of the evening, so people aren’t wandering around confused.
