Real Jewish Brides: Juliette’s Bachelorette, Bridal Shower and Last Month as Miss

10/10/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Juliette will be marrying Matt on 9th November 2019 at Ashford Estate in Allentown, New Jersey, USA. Click here to read all Juliette’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Juliette and Matt met in Hebrew school when they were 16 – aww! (2) Juliette and Matt are both Jewish, but they are having a Jew-ish wedding – Juliette’s dad’s side of the family is Catholic, and they want to make sure everyone feels included on the day. (3) Juliette is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club – and she calls STG her “secret weapon” in wedding planning!

My last post

I cannot believe this is my last blog post for Smashing the Glass! I feel like I am going to blink, and I’ll be walking down the aisle. I have loved getting to share my planning experiences and emotional ups and downs throughout the process.

With only a month left there have been some amazing highlights and some HUGE #WPWs (wedding planning wins).

If I haven’t mentioned it before the only real reason, I am able to make this wedding happen is because of my support system. My mom and mother in law are amazing and help with everything from hair extensions to packing invitations.

Also, huge shout out to my bridal party, especially Amanda, my MOH. She hosted and planned the most fabulous glittering unreal Bachelorette Bash. Then as always Matt is there keeping the positivity and reminding me why we are even throwing this shindig in the first place!

Real Jewish Brides: How Juliette Chose Her Florist

Major win: the florist!

My wedding is quickly approaching and this week has made it abundantly clear. Matt and I had some time off of work and we spent the week gathering wedding planning wins. Our major win this week was the florist.

I met and decided to use Adam Leffel Productions about a year ago when I was first beginning my planning. I was obsessed with the visual impact of the day. As I combed through Instagram and Pinterest I became a complete psycho flipping through pictures of floral arrangements, table settings, chairs, lighting and production.

So quick reminder, I have never been to a wedding. When you are researching and planning, food and music are not what you see on Instagram. Now before every Jewish mother jumps from their seat, I did make sure to give focus to those two important parts of the puzzle. We put our parents in charge of food and hired a trusted DJ for all the dancing festivities.

Real Jewish Brides: Juliette on Shopping for a Wedding Dress as a Plus-Size Bride

Bride and bridesmaids dresses: a huge deal

Weddings are full of glamour. The simplest of weddings at a courthouse to the most lavish affairs (my mom is nodding at this) have the unspoken element of glamour and effervescence. I think it comes from the fact that you know you are actively making memories on that day, rather than the other days of your life where memories just happen. Your wedding day is special.

With that in mind I knew the dresses both mine, and my bridesmaids were going to be a HUGE deal. I was inundated the second I was engaged with Pinterest photos of bridesmaids and dream dresses for myself. It was honestly overwhelming.

Real Jewish Brides: Juliette Talks How She Found her Photographer and her Engagement Shoot

26/03/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Juliette will be marrying Matt on 9th November 2019 at Ashford Estate in Allentown, New Jersey, USA. Click here to read all Juliette’s planning posts to date.

The importance of the photos

I am an ultra-decisive person. I always know what I am going to eat before the waiter arrives, I pick my outfits out in under 3 minutes each morning, and I never hesitate to tell you I don’t like what you tried on (ask any of my 9 bridesmaids). However, with all the major decisions that wedding planning naturally creates, I find myself hesitating, second guessing, and obsessing. One of my main obsessions took form in the shape of wedding photos.

Every Pinterest page wants to remind you that finding your soulmate is the hardest part of the whole wedding process and you have already done that! These people are obviously not trying to impress and please 250 people whose opinions they trust. I promise I will live in the moment of that day.

However that is not going to stop me from freaking out about the photos. The photos are a huge deal because after it is all over and done and the glitter clears and you can finally eat that chocolate cake your mother told you is off limits (I wish I could tell you I’m kidding) the pictures are the last artefact of the most special day of your life.

Today on the blog we’re introducing our 7th gorgeous bride from our crop of 2019 Real Jewish Brides! Please give a warm welcome to Juliette, who will be marrying Matt on 9th November 2019 at Ashford Estate in Allentown, New Jersey, USA.

How We Met

Matt and I met each other when we were 15 years old. When I was a sophomore in high school my mom signed me up for Hebrew High, which was a program my Reform temple ran for continuing education after your bar/bat mitzvah. I almost never went.

I didn’t grow up with any Jewish kids and I didn’t think it was worth my very precious time as a high school student. However, my mom in her sixth sense genius insisted I start to go more often, because you never know who you could meet. I begrudgingly agreed and sitting in a classroom on a random Wednesday night this cute boy jumped from his seat to answer a question and I was dumbfounded.

Within a week we had found each other on Facebook (see me stalking out his last name and friending him with no mutual friends) and went on a few dates. About a week later we were dating. We went to different colleges in different states, which in the end, only brought us closer. Slowly we built lives that melded together. We now work at the same company and are building our happy little life in the center of Midtown Manhattan.
