Real Jewish Brides: Jaime’s Putting the Finishing Touches on Her Hindu-Jewish Wedding

31/07/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Jaime will be marrying Varun on 26th October 2019 at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, California, USA. Click here to read all Jaime’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Jaime and Varun will be having a Jewish ceremony AND a Hindu ceremony – on the same day! (2) They’re planning a swanky but not stuffy wedding at one of our fave California venues, Hummingbird Nest Ranch! (3) Jaime is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

3 months to go

Hi everyone! I’m excited to update you all on what we’ve been up to the last several weeks! It feels like all of a sudden things are happening so fast. We have just over 3 months to go and so much has to happen before then! Now, more than ever I am so grateful that we invested in such a high quality wedding planner to keep us on track. I have no idea where I’d be without her guidance!

A special cantor

OMG you guys the coolest thing happened to me that I have to share with you too! As you may recall, V and I are having two separate ceremonies on the same day – Hindu ceremony followed by Jewish ceremony. I really wanted our close family friend Idan who is also our cantor to marry us – but it turned out he was booked for a bar mitzvah that day. Even though he told me this in the beginning of our wedding journey I always KNEW in the back of my mind that he would still be the one to marry us (I left it up to the universe!).

As luck would have it – JUST as my mom and I touched down in Israel for our last trip together (literally as the plane was landing) he texted me that the craziest thing just happened and that he found out he will in fact be able to marry us because the bar mitzvah was being moved to a different day – which NEVER happens! My mom and I were freaking out! This is SO special for me, Varun and my family because we are so close with Idan and his family and have known them for so long. I couldn’t be more grateful that he will be the one to marry us in the Jewish ceremony!

What’s in the works for us at this moment…

#1 Invitation design: We decided on color, feel and structure and we are working with Sherry from Creative Works. We wanted something unique and different and we are excited about what we are working on with Sherry!

#2 Bachelor/Bachelorette: Varun and I have our bachelor/bachelorette parties in August. He’s heading to Colombia and I’m heading to Las Vegas. We are both looking forward to time with our friends before the big day!

#3 LA Trip: Sandwiched in between our bach and bachelorette trips – we are heading to LA to do food meetings (cake tasting, food tasting), music meetings, floral meetings and more!

#4 Back to Israel and Paris: In September I will go to Paris and back to Israel with my dad for my final dress fittings! Last time I was there I decided that I wanted to do a second dress for the reception so it’ll be so fun to try on both dresses! Paris will be a fun stop over for both of us to get some wedding accessories. My family spends many Chrismakkuhs in Paris and it’s my dad’s favorite city in the world – so going there with him will be super special right before the wedding!

#5 Cake. I joke (but not really) with Leora our wedding planner that the cake is more important to us than the food (LOL). Varun and I both LOVE cake so it’s important that we get it PERFECT! She has brought us an amazing cake designer that I am excited to potentially work with!

#6 Wedding  bands – Being a jewelry FREAK, I am SO excited for our wedding bands and I have been working closely with our ring designer, Maytal Hannah on the designs. I opted to go with a right hand band and Varun’s band is super unique too. 🙂

Hindu and Jewish cultures together

Blending both cultures has been such a fun and creative experience. Our cultures are so different – but so similar and we are so excited for the unique experiences we are creating for our guests. We are still working through other details like rentals, rehearsal dinner, brunches etc – it just feels like so much has to happen but we feel fully supported and on track!
