Rebekkah will be marrying Jakob on 11th July 2019 at The Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. Click here to read all Rebekkah’s planning posts to date.

Real Jewish Brides: Mimi And Her 4-Week Countdown

04/06/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Mimi will be marrying Andrew on 7th July 2019 at Hazel Gap Barn in Welbeck, Nottinghamshire, UK. Click here to read all Mimi’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: THREE FACTS: (1) Mimi and Andrew met online in 2013. (2) Mimi is a flight attendant and writes her own travel and beauty blog on the side (3) Andrew proposed to Mimi, who at the time was nearing the completion of her conversion to Judaism, at the top of Masada – wow!

The Final Countdown

The four week countdown is officially on – and I almost can’t believe how time has flown by in these last few months (said every bride, like, ever!). I’m incredibly excited, and hoping to tie-up those final details and plans so that I can relax during this final run up!

Since I last wrote I’ve been super busy, which is something I’m sure all brides-to-be can relate to! I had the most amazing second Hen – a verrrry boozy brunch at the W Hotel  with 15 of my best friends and family (my first hen was a ski weekend in Chamonix so it was about time we got a little wilder!)

Real Jewish Brides: Juliette on Shopping for a Wedding Dress as a Plus-Size Bride

28/05/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Juliette will be marrying Matt on 9th November 2019 at Ashford Estate in Allentown, New Jersey, USA. Click here to read all Juliette’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Juliette and Matt met in Hebrew school when they were 16 – aww! (2) Juliette and Matt are both Jewish, but they are having a Jew-ish wedding – Juliette’s dad’s side of the family is Catholic, and they want to make sure everyone feels included on the day. (3) Juliette is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club – and she calls STG her “secret weapon” in wedding planning!

Bride and bridesmaids dresses: a huge deal

Weddings are full of glamour. The simplest of weddings at a courthouse to the most lavish affairs (my mom is nodding at this) have the unspoken element of glamour and effervescence. I think it comes from the fact that you know you are actively making memories on that day, rather than the other days of your life where memories just happen. Your wedding day is special.

With that in mind I knew the dresses both mine, and my bridesmaids were going to be a HUGE deal. I was inundated the second I was engaged with Pinterest photos of bridesmaids and dream dresses for myself. It was honestly overwhelming.

Real Jewish Brides: Alexandra Is Getting Married In Five Days!

21/05/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Alexandra will be marrying Jordan this coming Sunday (!) at The Grove in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. Click here to read all Alexandra’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Alexandra and Jordan met in college and have been together ever since. (2) They are planning a romantic fairy tale garden wedding inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream – LOVE! (3) Alexandra’s wearing Galia Lahav for the big day – one of our absolute fave Israeli designers!

My 5-days countdown

Hey STG community – Alexandra here for my final post before I say “I DO” on May 26th! Our wedding is quickly approaching and there is a seemingly never-ending list of to-dos. At the one-month-out point, brides are likely crazed with hair and makeup trials, dress fittings, food tastings, final conversations with the officiant, venue, band, photographer, florist, etc.!

Aside from plans for the wedding, there is also likely much to do for the honeymoon. For our trip to Greece and Paris, we have been researching and booking wine tours, cooking classes, ATV tours, boat days and much more! It is natural to be stressed, but I think that it is important to go with the flow (or at least try your best to) and remember to ENJOY these beautifully precious moments of your life.

Real Jewish Brides: How Nargiz Picked Out The Right Vendors

14/05/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Nargiz will be marrying Ryan on 9th November 2019 at Farmington Hills Manor, in Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA. Click here to read all Nargiz’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Nargiz was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, and the wedding will combine her family’s traditions – they are Mountain Jews, or Gorski, and their culture is a mix of Persian and Middle Eastern influences – and Ryan’s American Ashkenazi background. (2) Nargiz’s mother tragically passed away last summer, so she has been facing wedding planning without her mom by her side. (3) Nargiz is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

How I choose my vendors

Nobody tells you the amount of time goes into finding and picking out the right vendors for your wedding, and that’s probably because everyone has a different experience.

Whether it is picking out the right band, photographer, videographer, florist, planner, hair stylist, makeup artist (the list is endless), some brides (and grooms) need only meet with one company and choose them.

Others, on the other hand (like me), have to meet and/or talk to at least three different companies or individuals before making up my mind.
