Real Jewish Brides: 1 Month To Go for Rebekkah and Her Final To Do List

11/06/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Rebekkah will be marrying Jakob on 11th July 2019 at The Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. Click here to read all Rebekkah’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Rebekkah and Jakob were introduced by mutual friends while Jakob, who is from Germany, was in Rebekkah’s hometown of Calgary on a specialized work visa. (2) They are getting married at a beautiful mountain resort in a national park in Alberta, Canada! (3) Rebekkah is a “very satisfied member” (her words) of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

Final post, but still lots to do

Walla my final post! What a journey wedding planning has been for me and I am almost sad to see the time go so fast. Being able to watch other brides navigate through Smashing the Glass along their wedding planning experience has been such an inspiration and has really helped me appreciate the journey.

Next month all my wedding logistics won’t matter and I’ll be married to the man of my dreams, till then however I have lotttttssssss to do.

Back from Israel

So here I am jet legged as hell, just got home from a month-long trip to beautiful Israel. I’ve came back happy, exhausted, with my dress, with a tan and perhaps a couple of extra pounds thanks to delicious Israeli food (thank goodness my dress still fits).

Flying with my dress

Israel was – of course – amazing! My fiancé and I had a fantastic time together, it was romantic for us to come back to the spot he had proposed to me last year. I picked up my dress as I mentioned and now understand how totally stressful it is flying with your wedding dress.

Note it’s much less stressful flying with a dress in first class (I was informed by an air hostess). But we chose to save some cash and fly coach and yes, I was worried about closet space and all sorts of other silly situations ruining it, right up until it was home and hung up in my closet.

A new puppy

The day after we got back, as if I don’t have enough on my plate, decided it was time for the hole in my heart left from the passing of my beloved dog Zus to be filled with a puppy. So, I bought myself a little Scottish Terrier girl and called her Wednesday. She is perfect, my soul feels whole once again.

Jakob and I are so very happy to start our married lives together with a puppy to train as a couple. We have a lot more training to do to get her ready to walk down the aisle with us and our other dog Pauly. I’m so excited she is a little black ball of fluff and she is going to look so cute with a white flower collar! (hopefully she won’t chew it up before the ceremony).

What’s next?

What is left for me to do before the wedding is: a boudoir shoot (I want his day of the wedding present from me to be a couple sexy yet tasteful pictures to put in his suit pocket), hair and makeup trial, to build our chuppah, sort out some last-minute RSVPs, sort out music and the time frame/flow of the evening, and the biggest stress left to do is sort out how I am going to host so many people.

Jakob and I wanted to help our out-of-town guests to save money by staying with us. Which I’m happy to do just all the logistics of having groceries for that many people and sleeping spaces etc. Not to mention making sure my house looks as lovely as possible. So what we’ve decided to do because we live on a ranch with extra buildings a barn and shop, is to hire staging company that stages homes for sale (where you can rent furniture and well everything to make a space nice, that they set up and take down).

Then all I need to do is make room in a part of our barn (it’s a bougie barn) for a bunch of our friends to sleep while other friends and fam can set up tents and park rented camping trailers in our field next to the house.

It’s fair to say I’ve got my work cut out for me.

Thank you, STG!

Thank you, Karen and the STG team, and other Smashing The Glass Brides Club ladies for all your help advice, inspiration, and thank you for taking the time to read up on my wedding journey, it has been a cool introspective journey for my Jakob and me.  I hope that I have had the opportunity to inspire or relate to some other bride/groom, engaged person out there. Can’t wait to show you all the fruits of all this work (wedding pictures).

Thanks for reading!

Bekkah
