Real Jewish Brides: Jay’s Got Less Than 7 Weeks To Go!

09/10/2018 by Smashing The Glass

Jay will be marrying Tom on 24th November 2018 at Hyatt Churchill, London, UK. Click here to read all Jay’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: Jay and Tom met on Tinder (Tinder For The Win!) (2) These two are planning a big fat Jew-ish wedding (Jay is Jewish, Tom is not) but in Jay’s words: “Tom was brought up in Edgware and has more of a love for chopped liver and bagels than I do!” (3) Jay is a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor and Tom works at Facebook.

Last few crazy weeks!

It’s been a crazy few weeks since my last post, as mentioned previously I was sitting in a hospital ward writing whilst Tom, my fiancà©, was having knee surgery. Following the surgery, I too, became unwell so the combination of trying to be a nurse for Tom, a wedding planner and being ill myself has been really quite manic!

Thank goodness we are now all on the up, Tom still has some way to go with his recovery but hopefully he will be Jewish dancing ready just in time… in under 7 weeks and counting!

A Watters Bride for a Magical Destination Jewish Wedding with a Tent of Lights at Flora Farms in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico

08/10/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Destination Jewish wedding Flora Farms in San Jose del Cabo Mexico_0058
Okay, we’ve got three words for you: Tent. Of. Lights. Yes, Lindsay and Scott’s gorgeous outdoor dance floor at their destination Jewish wedding in Mexico was draped in the most magical tent of twinkly white lights, and we are totally obsessed with it. You don’t want to miss Julieta Amezcua Photography’s epic photos of it after dark.

Not that Flora Farms is by any means shabby during daylight hours. For starters, the pair married in an actual mango grove, aka tropical paradise. Yes, it’s as stunning as it sounds. Plus the unbelievable natural beauty was complemented by the perfect breezy chuppah, with a gauzy white canopy and just a touch of floral accent.

With a super cool letterpress ketubah from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubah.com to round things out, it’s safe to say that this was one stylish wedding. And that’s before we even get to Lindsay’s wonderful A-line dress from Watters — with a flowy tulle skirt and a fun floral design on the bodice, it was the perfect fit for this blissed-out day.

We’ll let the bride take it from here…

Flora Farms

Lindsay, the bride: We were married at Flora Farms in San Jose del Cabo. We fell in love with this venue after visiting, and we knew there was no where else we could see ourselves getting married. The venue truly speaks for itself. The Mango Grove has a large open space, where we had our dance floor surrounded by the DJ stand and tables, with a small barn-area for our bar.

Smashing The Glass at New York Bridal Market!

05/10/2018 by Emily Sacharin

It’s the most wonderful time of the yeeeeeeear… New York Bridal Fashion Week, aka Bridal Market! It’s basically Fashion Week, but for bridal designers. And now that Team STG has a New York-based member – that’d be me, Emily, your friendly Client Relations Manager – we’re able to bring you the Spring ‘19 fashions live from the catwalk.

Bridal Market really is one of the exciting times in a wedding blogger’s year, and we have invites to some absolutely fantastic shows this time around. I’ll be posting it all on Smashing The Glass’s Instagram Stories, so stay tuned over the next few days for some gorgeous gowns, fab accessories, and a behind-the-scenes peek into the life of a wedding blogger!

I have a super packed schedule over the next few days – I’ll be running around the city from Midtown to Chelsea to Soho to see the latest and greatest from some of our absolute favorites, including Lela Rose and Ines Di Santo (I’ll be joining the fabulous Caroline Burstein of Browns Bride for these two!), Vera Wang, Alon Livne, Dany Mizrachi, Halfpenny London, Hermione de Paula, Lee Petra Grebenau, Emmy London, Caroline Castigliano, Limor Rosen, Sassi Holford, aaaand… Suzanne Neville!

A Hagit Kassif Dress for the Designer’s Own Purim Street Style Jewish Wedding in Tel Aviv, Israel

05/10/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding best friends apartment in Purim, Tel Aviv, Israel_0056
Okay, Hagit and Tom are officially our new favorites. They merged two wonderful things, Jewish weddings and the super fun holiday of Purim,  into — wait for it — a Purim costume wedding taking advantage of Tel Aviv’s epic street party in honor of the holiday. We’ve never seen anything like it before. But we hope we will again, because it’s the actual best.

Bride Hagit a bridal fashion designer, heading up Hagit Kassif Bridal in Tel Aviv, while groom Tom is a wedding photographer, so it’s safe to say these two know Israel’s wedding scene inside and out. Naturally, the bride designed her own super cool boho dress (and the bridesmaids’ — all in fuchsia!).

In keeping with the free-spirited  nature of the day, Tom passed on smashing the traditional glass in favor of… a Kinder egg!! Love it.

Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ben Kelmer took the most stylish (yet ultra-natural) photos — seriously, if you want gorgeous documentary photos that don’t scream “wedding” (and might, perhaps, look at home in, say, the pages of Vogue), he’s your man.

Take it away, Hagit!Continue ReadingContinue Reading

A Suzanne Neville Bride for a Super Luxe Destination Jewish Wedding at the Great Synagogue of Florence and Villa de Maiano, Florence, Italy

03/10/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding Great Synagogue of Florence and Villa di Maiano, Florence, Italy_0021
BRB — booking a ticket to Florence. Okay, maybe not, but we are a million percent tempted by today’s dreamiest of Italian destination Jewish weddings. Between the ceremony at the majestic Great Synagogue of Florence to the swoon-worthy reception at Villa di Maiano, Paige and Richard‘s day was as dreamy as it gets (and they also had an adorable wedding hashtag — #paigegetsrich).

Much-loved STG Recommended Vendor Michelle Jacobs of Eleganté by Michelle J helped the couple pull all the fab design elements together from London, where they live. From the magical floral chuppah (who would’ve thought such a fresh, natural design would be the PERFECT fit for such a grand, historic space?) to THE most stunning top table we have ever, ever seen complete with a pergola, crystal chandeliers, hanging glass globes filled with tea lights (seriously, check out David Bastianoni’s photos — it is not to be missed!), we can safely say she hit a home run with this epic day. Oh… and Waterfall Visuals‘s film  below is the dreamiest thing ever.

We’re thrilled to have a chance to chat with their awesome planner, Michelle Jacobs, live on the Smashing The Glass Facebook page tomorrow at 7: 30 p.m. GMT/2:30 p.m. EST tomorrow, Thursday, October 4. And if you love today’s wedding as much as we do, do not miss this one as we’ll be covering all the ins and outs of planning a Jewish (or Jew-ish) wedding in Italy. Please do tune in, and bring your questions!

Another wonderful STG Recommended Vendor, Totem (who Paige and Richard loved enough to fly out from London!) provided ultra-emotional chuppah music before transitioning to party mode at the villa, where they kept the dancefloor packed all night. Talk about a smashing party! Oh, and speaking of things that are smashing, did we mention Paige and Richard used one of our very own Smash Glass pouches?!

We are also LOVING their exquisite stationery by Ruth Kaye Design another STG fave and Recommended Vendor… we’re literally dying over how fabulous everything about this wedding is. —don’t you agree?

We’ll let Paige, who looked goooooorgeous in her glam Suzanne Neville gown, take it from here…

A Room with a View

Paige, the bride: Our chuppah took place at the Great Synagogue of Florence and then afterwards we moved over to Villa di Maiano, a beautiful villa in Fiesole, a small town in the hills above Florence. Villa di Maiano is where the movie A Room with a View, was filmed (just celebrating the 30th anniversary of the film).

We went to see several venues, this was the first. We had a special feeling as soon as we walked into the gardens — we both cried — so we just knew this was the place for us. We did consider having our ceremony at Villa di Maiano, but Michelle suggested we visit the synagogue… and again, the minute we walked in we just knew we had to have our chuppah there.Continue ReadingContinue Reading
