Real Jewish Brides: Jay’s Got Less Than 7 Weeks To Go!

09/10/2018 by Smashing The Glass

Jay will be marrying Tom on 24th November 2018 at Hyatt Churchill, London, UK. Click here to read all Jay’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: Jay and Tom met on Tinder (Tinder For The Win!) (2) These two are planning a big fat Jew-ish wedding (Jay is Jewish, Tom is not) but in Jay’s words: “Tom was brought up in Edgware and has more of a love for chopped liver and bagels than I do!” (3) Jay is a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor and Tom works at Facebook.

Last few crazy weeks!

It’s been a crazy few weeks since my last post, as mentioned previously I was sitting in a hospital ward writing whilst Tom, my fiancà©, was having knee surgery. Following the surgery, I too, became unwell so the combination of trying to be a nurse for Tom, a wedding planner and being ill myself has been really quite manic!

Thank goodness we are now all on the up, Tom still has some way to go with his recovery but hopefully he will be Jewish dancing ready just in time… in under 7 weeks and counting!

Meeting At Our Venue… With A Spreadsheet!

We had a recent meeting at our venue, Hyatt Churchill with the events team there and our events coordinator, from, The Function Band

I like to be quite organised, and turned up to the venue with a spreadsheet which included pictures! My mum thought I was starting to lose the plot! The spreadsheet was a huge help, it gave structure to the meeting and allowed me to clearly explain exactly what I envisaged for our big day.

Some may think it is a little OTT, but I found it one of the most useful things I have done to date with my wedding prep! However, the meeting highlighted a few things – after pulling everything together we started to realise it didn’t all quite work, we had run away with a few ideas and colour schemes and it had all become a little erratic. Thankfully, this was all addressed in plenty of time, otherwise maybe the bridezilla in me would have made a little appearance on the day…

Invitations Sent

Our guests have all been receiving their invitations as of last week, I cannot quite believe how quickly time is flying by and how close our big day is now! The excitement is really kicking in. I was very particular with our invitations and stationary, and really struggled to find what I was looking for.

Since our guests have received the invitations, the words that they have used to describe them are elegant and sophisticated. I breathed a little sigh of relief and realised my hard work had paid off, that was the exact look I wanted, so for other people to notice it has truly meant a lot to me. We are now in the final discussions, with Simcha Invitations, finalising the rest of our stationery.

Mum and sister’s dresses

My family is quite small, and I wanted both my mum and my sister to feel fabulous on the day. They are both having dresses made, we had my sister’s fitting last week and she looked absolutely stunning.

Our colour scheme is navy and gold, and she has had a beautiful navy lace dress made. My mum’s fitting is next week, she is a little nervous but if my sister’s dress is anything to go by I am sure it will be just as fabulous! Once I know the mother of the bride is happy, all will be ok on the day 🙂

My dress fitting

I also have a dress fitting next week. This will be the first time I see my hand made dress by the fabulous, Sharon Cunningham and I cannot wait! However, I have been having a bit of a shoe nightmare, like everything, I am very particular of what style I want, but not having too much luck finding it. I still have a few weeks, so fingers crossed I find the perfect shoe.

Almost At The End Of My Planning Journey

We are entering the last few weeks now and pulling everything together. I am working on few personal touches and hope they all come together on the night – just to make it that bit more special.

I am feeling all sorts of emotions as it gets ever closer now, but one thing is certain, I really cannot wait to be the new Mrs Duke.
