An Essense of Australia Bride for a Foodies’ Jewish Wedding at One Marylebone, London, UK

We always love seeing what event industry pros choose when it comes to their own Jewish weddings – and today’s bride Rachael, who works for Melanie’s Catering, had the most fabulous foodie Jewish wedding to groom Jason!

The London couple opted to wed at One Marylebone, and they turned to their friend Lara of Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Uptown Events to bring their vision to life. Needless to say, Rachael reports that “the whole team at Uptown couldn’t do enough for us and put all their effort into making our day everything we wanted it to be.”

Choosing a caterer was obviously a big decision, given the bride’s professional background. Rachael’s own colleagues were all guests at the wedding, so the couple needed to look elsewhere to source exceptional food for the big day. Enter Eat Me Events, who worked closely with the couple to make all their culinary dreams come true – and it really does look incredible, just check out photos by Alex Wysocki and video from Tete-a-tete Films.

How We Met

Rachael, the bride: With not much to do in lockdown, we both found ourselves on hinge and matched the day before Rosh Hashanah. He had me at ‘Shana Tovah’ and the rest is history. Eventually when we could, our first date was a drink in a pub outside and Jason actually proposed that very night with a paper straw.

An Ultra-Personal Chanukah Jewish Wedding Micklefield Hall, Hertfordshire, UK

We love a Chanukah wedding, and Ella and Aaron’s is one of the best we’ve seen! Their vision for their winter Jewish wedding was “twinkly winter wonderland with lots of doughnuts, latkes and joy,” and they worked with the most talented team – including a number of beloved Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendors – to bring it to life.

Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Uptown Events planned the day to perfection, recommending vendors – including the couple’s stunning venue, Micklefield Hall, after their original location fell through – and making sure everything ran smoothly on the day. They also guided Ella and Aaron to choose a DJ Live act when it came to entertainment – and Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor The Twentysomethings ended up being “such a hit that they’ve since become the unofficial band for our whole group, with two other couples booking them since!”

Ella and Aaron made all the stationery themselves (with their small business It IS Personal) – including the most adorable dreidel-shaped reserved seating signs and matchbox place cards in honor of Chanukah. Also perfectly on theme? The duo’s wedding menu, which included latkes, a full salt beef bar, and savoury pulled beef doughnuts (in addition to the sweet kind). Another Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor, Carmel Designs, painted the couple’s wonderful custom ketubah, merging their vision for a design in keeping with their rustic wedding vibes, incorporating the Tree of Life and reflecting Ella and Aaron’s love of animals.

How We Met

Ella, the bride: We met the way so many modern couples do these days – on good old Hinge! We first met in June 2022, when Aaron was finishing his teacher training year, and Ella was working at her local synagogue. Aaron is now Pastoral and Wellbeing Manager at his old Jewish secondary school, and Ella works as Children and Family Educator at the synagogue we’ve joined together, while training to be a therapist. Our professions are an example of how well our values align – something we were both aware of when we met, and is one of the many reasons we instantly clicked and fell for each other so quickly! Not even a month into dating, we’d booked our first holiday to Israel together for Chanukah that year.

A Galia Lahav Bride for a Soft and Sophisticated Jewish Wedding at The Dorchester, London, UK

Dreamy wedding alert! Jessie, a personal shopper and stylist, and Elliot, who’s director of paid digital at Warner Music Group, had an absolutely breathtaking London Jewish wedding, and we’re smitten from start to finish.

The couple turned to Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Uptown Events to help them bring their vision to life at the iconic Dorchester, and Jessie can’t stop raving about how amazing they were every step of the way. In her words, “Uptown proposed amazing ideas to fit our vision and be aesthetically pleasing for our guests! Uptown Events truly were a saving grace, we were able to speak to them constantly throughout the process and their organisation was top notch. We really couldn’t have planned the wedding without them and they genuinely sorted out everything we asked for and made the day run extremely smoothly (which I know is not always possible!).”

Being in the fashion industry herself, choosing a dress was a big decision for Jessie – and unsurprisingly, she picked an absolute stunner, Sun from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Galia Lahav. Even though Jessie initially thought she wanted something simple, but when she tried Sun on her sales assistant’s recommendation, she instantly changed her mind – and we’re so glad she did; it looks like it was made for her!

An Iconic Venue

Jessie, the bride: The Dorchester – I’ve always wanted to get married there and we had quite a large wedding so it was the perfect space to fit all our guests! We loved the character of the ballroom and the hotel overall. It’s such an iconic landmark within London so it felt extra special to get married there.

Natasha and James’ big day embodies everything we love the most about London Jewish weddings. There’s something so iconic about a London hotel venue and Natasha, who works at Sky Sports as an Assistant Producer, and James, a Senior E-Commerce Manager at Universal Music Group, opted to make things official at one of the best, the stunning Rosewood London. The couple loved the way the property embodies “cool and classy,” and it really was the perfect spot for this very special day.

Natasha and James’ wedding planners, Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Uptown Events, helped the couple bring their wedding dreams to life, and, in the bride’s words, “made everything so seamless from start to finish.” We’re obsessed with all the gorgeous details that gave this wedding its wow factor, from the epic forest-like chuppah in green and white to Natasha’s bespoke gown by Suzanne Neville and so much more. How We Met

Natasha, the bride: James & I never had the “hello, nice to meet you moment”. We had actually known each other since we were little, with James being best friends with my cousin. It was only at University that we were “formally” introduced and the rest was history! We both studied in Leeds, Natasha at the University of Leeds and James at Leeds College of Music, and from the day we met, we instantly clicked… Two days later and we are having our first date, at Old Trafford for Manchester United vs Arsenal (both MASSIVE Arsenal fans)! 8 years later and we are married!

We always love seeing what choices Jewish wedding pros make when it comes to planning their own big day – so naturally we’re thrilled to be featuring the wedding of Lara, the wedding planner behind Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Uptown Events! She and Grant, a data analyst, had the most fabulous London Jewish wedding at Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor The Langham, one of the city’s most iconic venues.

Having worked on so many incredible weddings, Lara had lots of time to think about what she’d want to do for her own – which was honoring tradition while bringing in some original twists. One of these twists was the color scheme: rather than leaning into classic white, Lara opted for a palette focused on soft pinks with touches of green – and was it ever gorgeous! We’re especially enamored with Lara and Grant’s stunner of a floral chuppah – don’t miss it in the incredible photos by Katie Rogers!

We also love the fun culinary touches the dessert-loving couple brought to their wedding menu. Instead of a wedding cake, they opted for a giant tiramisu – and there was also a crumble bar, where guests could mix and match between different fruit bases and crumble toppings. How good does that sound?! And if that wasn’t enough, they had not one but two roaming desserts: a chocolate mousse trolley and a doughnut belt!

There are so many more fun details – everything from the way the couple included their beloved dog in the day via an AI cartoon image they used on custom matchboxes to the Picante tower the tequila-loving duo dreamed up instead of the classic Champagne version – but we’ll leave it to Lara, who looked so elegant in her beautiful lace gown by Rosa Clará, to tell you the rest…
