A Galia Lahav Bride for a Soft and Sophisticated Jewish Wedding at The Dorchester, London, UK

Jessie and Elliot, The Dorchester, London, UK

Dreamy wedding alert! Jessie, a personal shopper and stylist, and Elliot, who’s director of paid digital at Warner Music Group, had an absolutely breathtaking London Jewish wedding, and we’re smitten from start to finish.

The couple turned to Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Uptown Events to help them bring their vision to life at the iconic Dorchester, and Jessie can’t stop raving about how amazing they were every step of the way. In her words, “Uptown proposed amazing ideas to fit our vision and be aesthetically pleasing for our guests! Uptown Events truly were a saving grace, we were able to speak to them constantly throughout the process and their organisation was top notch. We really couldn’t have planned the wedding without them and they genuinely sorted out everything we asked for and made the day run extremely smoothly (which I know is not always possible!).”

Being in the fashion industry herself, choosing a dress was a big decision for Jessie – and unsurprisingly, she picked an absolute stunner, Sun from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Galia Lahav. Even though Jessie initially thought she wanted something simple, but when she tried Sun on her sales assistant’s recommendation, she instantly changed her mind – and we’re so glad she did; it looks like it was made for her!

There’s so much else to love about this fabulous day – don’t miss it all in the wonderful candid photography by Alex Wysocki, paired with the coolest film shots by Adam Crocker!

An Iconic Venue

Jessie, the bride: The Dorchester – I’ve always wanted to get married there and we had quite a large wedding so it was the perfect space to fit all our guests! We loved the character of the ballroom and the hotel overall. It’s such an iconic landmark within London so it felt extra special to get married there.

Planned to Perfection

We used Uptown Events from start to finish to help us plan our wedding. With initial ideas of our colour palette to be baby pink and white, Uptown helped us come up with ideas to bring our vision to life. As The Dorchester ballroom already has so many beautiful aspects, we wanted our flowers/candles/table decorations etc to be soft, gentle and sophisticated. Uptown proposed amazing ideas for all accessories such as our backdrop, centre piece bar, dance floor and table shapes in order for it to fit our vision and be aesthetically pleasing for our guests!

A Galia Lahav Dress

Galia Lahav – ‘The Sun’ dress. Being in the fashion industry I already had an idea that I wanted a dropped waist as I knew that would be the most flattering for my figure. Originally, I thought I wanted a simple dress, but as soon as I tried my dress on thanks to my sales assistant at Galia Lahav, I had completely changed my mind! I focused on the fact that I only get to wear this dress once, so I wanted it to be a work of art! Due to our amazing venue and size of our wedding, it needed to be more detailed and to stand out. I opted for an extra long veil as I wanted it to drape down the aisle. It all came together beautifully and I wouldn’t change a thing!

Ceremony & Chuppah

We had personalised tissues and water bottles for our guests for our ceremony (mirrored memories designed them perfectly). We were also thrilled to ask family members and friends to join us in reciting the Sheva Brachot under the Chuppah, it was so special to have them involved and to be such a significant part of our Chuppah. It’s so difficult to pinpoint our favourite part of the ceremony, seeing all our guests was so special and to reunite with each other after time apart before the big day, made it even more meaningful. It felt like it was the most intimate part of the day and to be surrounded by our family under the Chuppah together with Rabbi Levene, who guided us through every step of the way with his incredible service.

Our music choice

We were blessed to have the incredible Muzika who played at our wedding and accommodated all of our musical requests from the classic dance floor fillers to more modern hits, there was truly something for all of our guests (especially for Elliot who works in the music industry!)! Our first dance song was ‘Don’t wanna miss a thing’ by Aerosmith and it was perfect!  All the classics from Sweet Caroline, Angels and New York New York were all must’s and they really bought the party!

Flowers

The amazing Miri from Flowers by Miri was an absolute dream to work with! As our theme was baby pink and white, we went for white hydrangeas, white and pink roses and some foliage for our Chuppah and table centres. My bouquet was white roses with some greenery, as I wanted it to be timeless and not take too much attention away from my dress! The buttonholes were white roses whilst Elliot’s was pink and white. We also had candelabra’s for some centre pieces as well as single candles dotted around to make the room feel romantic and warm.

Photographer and videographer

We used Alex Wysocki – there was no question, she was the first person we booked! She captures every emotion so candidly,  nothing was staged and she also has a really modern feel. We also used Adam Crocker who captures ‘film’ photography, as I think it brings a really cool element to weddings and something a bit different!

Our video was by Tete-a-Tete Films, their videos are like no other, having recently got the full video back it was honestly like watching a movie and brought back all the emotions of the day! Nothing was ever too big of an ask and I barely saw him on the night, but he managed to shoot everything possible!

Advice to couples currently planning their wedding

Everything ALWAYS comes together, no matter how hard you stress or worry, it all pans out perfectly on the day and it will be the best day of your life, no matter what happens. DON’T look at the time, and make sure you take a moment to look around the room at all your guests so you really feel the love. Elliot and I made sure we stayed together all night, as we didn’t want separate memories of the night and it was the best decision we made – we felt like it was all about us and had the best time in our bubble!
