Facebook Live Catch Up: Ines Di Santo’s latest Collection + Wedding Dress Q&A – live from Browns Bride

21/12/2017 by Karen

WOW! What a Facebook Live we had last Thursday, live from central London’s most prestigious wedding dress store, Browns Bride.

I spent most of it open-mouthed, taking in the breathtaking bridal gowns from one of the most sought-after wedding dress designers in the world, the imitable Ines Di Santo… and I had to pinch myself that Ines herself was actually standing right there next to me! #starstruckmoment

Ines Di Santo 2018
Yes – that’s right, Ines Di Santo herself flew into London to be interviewed by Smashing The Glass and she could not have been more delightful. It was a true honor and pleasure to be in her company and to talk to her about her sensational work, inspiration and processes.

We were also treated to Caroline Burstein (above) former Creative Director of Mayfair’s Browns, and founder of the legendary Browns Bride, live on air with us. Caroline’s wealth of knowledge and insightful tips and advice were so appreciated by our live audience around the globe. Another huge thrill for Smashing The Glass to interview her live on air!

Ines Di Santo – Interview and Latest 2018 Collection – live from Browns Bride with Smashing The Glass

13/12/2017 by Karen

INES-DI-SANTO-2018
WE love Facebook Lives, YOU love Facebook Lives, and my goodness, have we got a fabulous one in store for you today!

We’ll be live streaming from central London’s Browns Bride — one of the world’s most prestigious bridal boutiques (and of course a much-loved Recommended Vendor) — with Ines Di Santo HERSELF! Yes – you read that correctly – the actual designer herself is flying in from Buenos Aires for what promises to be a truly special interview and showcase of her latest collection.

We literally CANNOT wait!

INES DI SANTO
Ines Di Santo’s incredible red-carpet style bridal gowns have to be seen to be believed. They combine both glamour and femininity and the brand has now expanded to become a family affair with Ines’ daughter Veronica working alongside her to add more modern and surprising touches to the gowns — and we’re utterly thrilled to have Veronica join us too!

This is your chance to ask Ines, Veronica and Karen all your wedding dress questions — nothing is off the table so ask away! You’ll be sure to be hugely inspired by the gowns on the evening too… Breathtaking doesn’t even cover it!

A Rustic-Chic Jewish Wedding at Soho Farmhouse with an Elizabeth Fillmore Bride

17/07/2017 by Karen

Jewish Wedding Soho Farmhouse UK_0027
A rustic chic aesthetic, live music aplenty, adorable extras and an incredible amount of family involvement defined Charlotte and David’s divine Soho Farmhouse wedding day.

When we say family involvement, we mean that the happy couple had an entire team of amazing helpers. The wedding was planned by the bride’s mum, the invitations designed by the groom’s sister, the jewellery provided by the groom’s mum, a dear friend of the bride sang the couple through their first dance – a perfect example of how the Jewish community comes together in times of celebration.

As Charlotte is a music manager, it went without saying that the wedding was packed with live music, including a gospel choir for the ceremony – now that’s something you don’t see at every Jewish wedding! The wedding featured two of our wonderful musical Recommended Vendors: Boutique Chupah Music (hear their amazing rendition of ‘Boi Kallah’ to the tune of ‘Hallelujah’ in the Insta-clip below), and the amazing  Wedding Smashers, who were on hand to kick the party up a notch and truly honor the venue’s ‘last man standing’ curfew policy.

Adorable extras included a midnight munchies van outside (heaven), and the guests arriving by milk float, which the STG team has now decided to use as its exclusive mode of transport from now on.

We’re also LIVING for Charlotte’s incredible, full-skirt Elizabeth Fillmore dress. What an absolute vision of bridal beauty!

Right, it’s now Charlotte’s turn to take over the STG pages with her fabulous write up – enjoy!

A venue with a last-man-standing curfew

Charlotte, the bride: We got married at Soho Farmhouse. We loved going to friends’ weddings abroad. You can’t beat the laidback atmosphere of an abroad wedding. We wanted to create that in the UK without any hassle of organising a function abroad, and Farmhouse allowed us to do just that.

We loved Soho Farmhouse from the moment we stepped foot onto the grounds, which was when it first opened, perhaps a year or so before we got married. Plus, their curfew rule is ‘last man standing’.

A Galia Lahav Bride for a Super Luxe Jewish Wedding, with an Epic Chuppah, at The Dorchester, London, UK

21/06/2017 by Karen

Brace yourselves, because today’s real Jewish wedding can only be described as a work of art, and we are really not exaggerating.

Georgia and Sam tied the knot at iconic London landmark, The Dorchester. Sam is a banker, while Georgia, a photographer and fitness instructor, is the daughter of Julian Posner, CEO of internationally renowned wedding and events company,  Banana Split, which is famed for transforming events into sensational worlds, with no detail spared.

Georgia and Sam’s winter wonderland vision, complete with a sea of hundreds, possibly thousands of candles, was realised by Banana Split, with an abundance of flowers by  Wild at Heart  adorning the room, and an awe-inspiring light bulb installation, with a couple of incredible twists (we won’t ruin them for you, read on).

The entire spectacular production, which included a phenomenal nightclub setup, was not only perfectly captured by masterful photographer  Robert Shack, but with his sensitive eye and artistic vision, the resulting images are absolutely timeless and extremely striking. We feel very honored and excited to have them grace our pages.

We invite you, as always, to enjoy the images below, Georgia’s account of her big day plans, and the tearjerker of a wedding teaser by the wonderful team at  AtMotion.

We hope you love it all as much as we do!

Georgia, the bride: We got married at The Dorchester in central London. It has always been a favourite venue of mine and the dà©cor and interior design worked really well with our designs and those which Banana Split created for us, as well as our caterer

A Monique Lhuillier bride for a city chic Jewish wedding at Bloomsbury Ballroom, London, UK

18/12/2015 by Karen

bloomsbury-ballroom-Jewish-wedding
Not only is today’s bride, Dana, a big fan of Smashing The Glass (I always love to hear that!) she also found her super talented florist, Gloria Baker, through the blog, and my goodness, what a breathtaking chuppah Gloria created. It’s a chuppah to die for. Anyone that’s after a dreamy, romantic, floral look should get their pinterest boards at the ready, and if not, get all old school with a notepad and pen — seriously it’s THAT good.

Dana and Jacob married at central London’s Bloomsbury Ballroom and they definitely achieved their aim of creating the greatest party of their lives. A massive 80% of their guests flew in from abroad and everyone partied so hard you just knew they weren’t working the following day! From personalised masks of Dana and Jacob, to flip flop favours, photo booths, and glasses emblazoned with ‘Dana and Jacob’, every dance floor detail was thought of.

I haven’t even mentioned Dana’s epic gown yet.. She wore ‘Sarah’ by Monique Lhuillier but she went a step further and got one of the wonderful seamstresses at Browns Bride to create a detachable skirt so that she could completely change up her look for the ceremony and the party. Brilliant!

As with almost every Jewish wedding ceremony, theirs was steeped in tradition and ritual, and they managed to successfully combine both Ashkenazi and Sephardi wedding traditions to reflect both their heritages. They also made the decision not to see or talk to each other for an entire week before the wedding! This is one of my favourite religious Jewish wedding traditions, but one that I rarely see carried out (for the full week) these days.

All the images and film are by Shedrin & Rubi, who Dana and Jacob flew in all the way from Israel.
