A David’s Bridal Bride for a Jewish Wedding Steeped in History at The Old Palace, Hatfield House, Hatfield, UK

21/10/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish-wedding-The-Old-Palace-Hatfield-House-UK
What better spot for a history-loving couple to wed than at Henry VIII’s summer palace?! That’s exactly what Natalie, a project manager, and Samson, who works in architecture, did when they opted for Hatfield House as their venue, and we are LOVING IT! Between the stunning 15th-century building and the manicured knot gardens, this venue’s got serious wow factor.

And so does the couple’s chuppah, a wooden structure covered in soft white blossoms (also, how romantic is it that the chuppah aisle was lined with flowers and lanterns?!). And we love that the chuppah canopy was made by a friend, who quilted a design that will be turned into a family tree – and also a family heirloom for Natalie and Samson’s own future children to marry under one day.

Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Luz did the most amazing job capturing the photo and video, as always. The groom, who works in architecture, was especially drawn to the fact that the Luz team bring their own architecture backgrounds to their photography style – and the rest is history!

Natalie and Samson had The Matzoh Boys as their band – whose lead singer is the incredible Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Jonny Mosesson – and the band brought their trademark soulful sound to the day.

A Venue with History

Natalie, the bride: We got married at The Old Palace, Hatfield House. Samson and I planned everything leading up to the day ourselves, which included the venue search. Hatfield House was the first venue we saw, and we found ourselves comparing every venue thereafter to it. That’s how we knew we had found the right one. The venue itself is steeped in history. It is King Henry the VIII former summer palace, and the location that Queen Elizabeth I found out that she would be queen. We both love history.

The space itself was incredible. The manicured knot gardens together with the 15th century building meant that the beauty was truly something spectacular. Being Australian, my aim was to pick a venue that our foreign guests would be ‘WOW’ed’ by. I think we achieved that aim!

The team at Hatfield House Hospitality were another massive selling point. They were kind, professional and engaged. I would recommend them to anyone.

A Sassi Holford Bride for a Scottish-Jewish Wedding at Bait al Hayam, Tel Aviv, Israel

18/10/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish-wedding-Bayit-al-Hayam-Tel-Aviv-Israel

We love seeing couples find unique, personal ways to merge their backgrounds in their interfaith Jewish weddings – and did Gabby, a doctor, and Jason, an aircraft engineer, ever pull it off! These two had the most delightful Jewish-Scottish destination wedding in Israel, with the perfect combination of the bride’s Jewish and Israeli identity and the Edinburgh-born groom’s Scottish heritage.

With a hora AND a bagpiper, a groom in a kilt, plentiful use of tartan (we’re obsessed with the tartan kippot!), and a meaningful personalized ceremony combining Jewish and Scottish traditions (officiated by Chen BenBrit Shapira, who the couple found right here on STG), this wedding is pure Scottish-Jewish perfection.

Gabby and Jason’s photographer, Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ori Carmi, captured all the emotion and the special details of the day so perfectly – and also made the couple feel completely at ease on camera, plus delivered super quick turnaround after the big day!

Now over to the bride, who looked fantastic in Sassi Holford…

Real Jewish Brides: Naomi’s Wedding Planning Progress, Getting Used to American Wedding Traditions, and Mourning a Tragic Loss

16/10/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Naomi will be marrying Daniel on 18th March 2020 at Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus in Aventura, Florida, USA. Click here to read all Naomi’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) British bride Naomi has just moved to Florida to join her Venezuelan fiance Daniel, who she met at a wedding in Israel – talk about an international couple! (2) Naomi and Daniel were long distance for 3.5 years, until this July. (3) Naomi is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

Wedding Planning Progress

Hello and welcome to bridal blog number 2!

I’m very happy to report that some definite planning progress has been made since I last sat down to write a post. Who would’ve thought, I’m actually enjoying wedding planning!? I can only possibly put that down to the incredibly calming influence of my other half to be, so shout out to Mr Azulay for pulling through there.

Fun news number 1) – we booked our wedding photographer and videographer, Esmeralda Bodas. After seeing some Instagram previews of a recent wedding they photographed of Daniel’s friends, including some spectacular hora shots where the bride and groom are captured mid air being thrown about by their friends (!), we instantly loved their style and the spirit of their pictures, and I’m so excited to work with them.

A Hayley Paige Bride for a Fairy Tale Jewish Wedding at Longstowe Hall, Cambridge, UK

14/10/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish-wedding-Longstowe-Hall-Cambridge-UK
There’s not much we love more than hearing that STG has helped a couple plan the Jewish wedding of their dreams – and we’re especially stoked that today’s couple used not one, not two, not three, but SEVEN of our very favourite Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendors.

Smashing The Glass Brides Club member, Julie, a TV lawyer, and James, a TV editor, had the most stunningly gorgeous stately home wedding – and the ultimate wedding day dream team to bring it all together. We’re so pleased to hear that they found their amazing wedding planner,Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Louise Perry, right here on STG! Julie says Louise truly made the wedding day, and knowing how awesome she is we totally believe it – she was also the one to come up with the fab pink colour scheme! Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Paul Rogers captured everything SO perfectly in his trademark documentary style – we really feel like we were there!,

Back to that colour scheme – Julie and James kept it going strong in their beautiful three-layered marbled invitations from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor EYI Love, as well as their lovely modern floral ketubah from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubata (which the couple now proudly display in their home).

Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ambassador Band brought the party atmosphere and kept everyone on the dance floor, and Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Feast by Ed Shaerf handled catering with his trademark delicious food (there was a profiterole tower involved!) and attentive service.

And spot our iconic smash glass pouch in the picture above? (They’re free for STG Brides Club members so Julie of course had one!).

Now over to the bride, who looked stunning in her super cool stripey Hayley Paige gown from beloved Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Mirror Mirror…
