Ciao bella! Super stylish Italian weddings with the Italian Wedding Company

21/05/2015 by Karen

Weddings-in-Italy-2Is there any place more instantly connected with romance than Italy? The land of enchanting lakes, rolling green vine-covered hills and azure-blue sea. It’s certainly a country of contrasts, from its cosmopolitan historic cities, up to the majestic snow-topped Alps and back down to stunning heat-seared coastlines… with, of course, peerless cuisine and wines to make them the envy of the world.

I’ve blogged my fair share of Jewish Italian weddings on Smashing The Glass already, and in a couple of weeks time there’s another gem coming that was planned by the  Italian Wedding Company  – I can’t wait for you to see it! The Italian Wedding Company are really something special.  I snapped them up as  Smashing Suppliers, and today  I want to tell you a little bit more about  why I’m so fond of them.

Win a romantic night for two in London’s breathtaking St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel

15/05/2015 by Karen

St-Pancras-Renaissance
Call me a romantic (or a bit geeky… either will do) but I’ve always had a fascination with that wonderful golden age of railways: the enchantment of travel, tearful goodbyes, joyful reunions… and the awe-inspiring gothic architecture that just blows you away.

And encapsulating all of this is the devastatingly impressive St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel. I attended a beautiful Jewish wedding there, not long after its refurbishment (a dizzying £150 million was spent on the makeover!) — and was bowled over by its seductive mix of grandeur and contemporary chic.

Getting married here is nothing like your traditional hotel wedding. For a start, you can see the Eurostar from the bar (and I always get a shiver of excitement when I think of that thrilling connection to Parisian adventure). Fancy Paris straight after the nuptials? Just pop out, and hop on…

Win a luxury overnight stay at The Hospital Club, London’s coolest private members’ club and wedding venue

27/03/2015 by Karen

Hospital-Club
The Hospital Club
in London’s Covent Garden is the only private members’ club designed specifically for those in creative industries,  and as a  member since 2009, it’s been my ‘home from home’ for many years.

Founded by musician Dave Stewart, of Eurythmics fame,  and Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, the Hospital Club opened  in 2004, as a hub where creative types could create, connect, and collaborate. Spread over seven floors with stunning interiors including  cocktail bars, lounges, a restaurant, 36-seater cinema, TV studio, art gallery, and 15 extraordinary  bedrooms, it  caters  for creative  professionals  who are looking for something super cool, friendly and collaborative.

As well as being London’s hippest  private  members’ club, it’s also the perfect space for couples looking for somewhere really stylish  and different for their wedding venue.

It  boasts a range of versatile spaces each with its own unique style and flavour, as well as  a team of chefs and mixologists who can tailor-make and prepare the perfect menu (kosher or just  Jewish-friendly!) whatever your theme and budget.

A couple of months ago in  January 2015, fifteen  sumptuous  bedrooms were added to the mix which means that  for the first time ever the Hospital Club is  opening it’s doors to non-members. The rooms are luxuriously appointed with leathers, velvets, sumptuous woods and  jaw-dropping works of  contemporary art,  and I’m giving one lucky reader and their companion  the  chance to sneak in, party hard, and crash out in comfort in the Hospital Club’s top suite, complete with  dinner in the club restaurant, and breakfast the following morning.

The suite (a.k.a. the crash pad of your dreams) comes complete with a  private terrace, separate lounge area,  erotic minibar by Holloway Smith Noir, brain power tool kits by the School of Life, insider guides to London,  and a 7pm cocktail trolley with your own personal bartender!

For the duration of your stay, you’ll  also be able to make full use of all member privileges including the club’s 3D cinema, pool room, cocktails bars, and the enviable schedule of member events.

Create a beautiful ‘Wed-Site’ with Riley & Grey + 50% reader discount

26/02/2015 by Karen

Riley-Grey
Some of you may be aware that I ran my own graphic and web design business for 10 years, prior to working full time  on  Smashing The Glass. That explains why I get super excited about  gorgeous  designs and beautiful  graphics and really know a brilliant  creative  product  when I see one, and ‘the one’ that I’m thoroughly  obsessed with right now is Riley & Grey.

Their wedding websites are by far the prettiest, and most  alluring ones out there, and can be  completely customised to your specifications. When I was planning  my own wedding  I hunted high and low for a cool and stylish wedding website and eventually binned the idea when I couldn’t find one to reflect my tastes. What a shame that Riley & Grey weren’t  around then as I would have, without question, used their services.

The best online tool for you and your guests

A wedding website (or ‘wed-site’ as you might have heard them referred to) is a great tool for collecting guest addresses, managing RSVPs and dietary requirements, and informing  your guests about your gift list. They’re also eco-friendly, and can incorporate all sorts of extra information and photo and  video galleries in a beautifully stylish way.

You can introduce your bridal party, tell everyone the story of how you met, explain directions, and if you’re having a destination or weekend-long wedding, incorporate the full schedule of events, and see who’s coming to what and when. You can also advise  your guests on  nearby hotels, attractions, and all the relevant transport links in a beautiful, orderly way. And if any specifics change, unlike print, you can instantly update  the details in a flash!

Looking for bold, humorous, beautiful Jewish wedding photography?

19/02/2015 by Karen

David-Morgan-Wedding-Photography
I might be a little bit obsessed. Like a serious case of wishing-I-was-still-a-bride-because-he-is-that-good obsessed.

Who am I talking about? None other than  David Morgan, whose photography  I’ve been a fan of as long as I’ve been blogging. Last month  I finally got to talk  to  him in person and not only is he one of the most talented photographers out there, he’s also thoroughly  genuine  and a joy  to be around, which in my books is a must for any wedding professional that I recommend.

I love the way David not only captures couples on their big day, but also the way  he documents  all the fleeting  moments that make up the  entire wedding day. He  takes the kind of photos you want to frame and hang on your wall for everyone to see. Photos that remind you of exactly how happy, beautiful, silly, or loved you felt on  your wedding day.

He  approaches wedding photography with a storyteller’s eye, and his work is full of personality, capturing the vibrancy and  energy of his subjects. As David  says of his work, “my style is completely natural. I shoot the story of what is happening as it unfolds. This means that you will receive completely unique images unlike any you may have seen at other people’s weddings.”
