15 Top Tips for Couples Planning a Jewish Wedding

06/07/2017 by Karen Cinnamon

Have you been enjoying  our two minute Jewish wedding tip videos that we’re posting on our Facebook page every day this month?!

We hope you’re finding them useful! Of course you’re going to get a lot of advice in the run up to your wedding — all of it well intentioned, some of it helpful, some… less so!

But if there’s one thing that’s certain, it’s that you can count on advice from experts. So as well as our Two Minute Tips, we got in touch with our family of Recommended Vendors to ask them what their top piece of advice would be for Jewish couples who are planning their weddings.

We absolutely love these nuggets, and think they’re extremely helpful, so jot down some notes and take heed of the following words of wisdom!

1. Personalize your chuppah

Michal from Michal K. Events Israel said: “Take your time to plan your chuppah, and personalize it the way you need to around the Jewish requirements. There is a lot you can do to incorporate your friends and family in the service and most rabbis will work with you both to visualize it. This post on Smashing The Glass has hundreds of different chuppah ideas to inspire you”.

2. Be in the moment

Herschel from Herschel Gutman Photography said: “Don’t spend the day getting caught up in the finer details, rather spend the day loving your family and your spouse.”

3. Incorporate things that are important to you

Debbie from Qube Events & Productions said: “Make sure your wedding reflects you! Think about what is it that you both love, enjoy doing, things that bring you together or even quirks about your personalities and bring these to the wedding. Don’t get carried away with what people tell you should do, make sure its special for you, and what you really want.”Continue ReadingContinue Reading

Two Minute Jewish Wedding Tips – every day in July

02/07/2017 by Karen

Happy Sunday everyone! Just a really quick one to say that every day in July I’ll be posting a two minute Jewish wedding tip, by video, to the Smashing The Glass Facebook page. The 2 minute videos will go out at the same time every day at 6pm GMT (1pm EST, 10am PST, and 8pm CET).

Hope you find them useful — and if there’s any topic you would like to see me talk about, just drop a note in the comments below.

Lots of smashing love!

PS Above is the first one that went out yesterday all about the importance of incorporating things into your wedding that are important to you. In my opinion, the more individuality you can stamp on your wedding, the better!

Facebook Live Catch Up: Jewish Wedding music with Jonny Mosesson

01/07/2017 by Karen

On Wednesday evening we were privileged to host the BEST Facebook Live yet when we went live with the ridiculously talented Jonny Mosesson, the chazan who I had at my own wedding!

It was essentially a Smashing The Glass Unplugged for the June episode of our monthly STG show live from my apartment in London — Mr STG made Aperol Spritz’s for everyone, we had friends over at our place watching, singing and dancing in the background, and the neighbors even joined in!

It was was a ‘Jewish Wedding Music’ special and we were bowled over by Jonny’s musical talents and his wonderful accompanist, Jamie Noar. The live audience, from all corners of the world, expressed their love for the show with loads of hearts, likes and comments. Thank you for being such a great audience – we love the live interaction!

There were so many great songs played including the Hora medley with Siman Tov Mazal Tov (45 mins in), Yerushalayim Shel Zahav (9 mins in) Katonti (13 mins in), Shuvi Nafshi (22 mins in) Boi Beshalom (26 mins 30 secs in), Im Eshka’hekh (42 mins in), Eshet Chayil (38 mins in), and Erev Shel Shoshanim (57 mins in).

The show was absolutely brilliant and if you missed it, you can still catch up by watching the replay above. Jonny and Jamie were just fantastic and it’s an absolute must-watch if you’re still thinking of ideas for your Jewish wedding ceremony music

We’re celebrating our 4th birthday with a chic rebrand and a fun Facebook Live tonight!

21/06/2017 by Karen Cinnamon

Smashing-The-Glass
Notice anything different about us today? Oh, only everything! That’s right, we’ve treated ourselves to a gorgeous rebrand, courtesy of the internationally renowned USA Design Studio Branch, who designed our beautiful new look.

Our old logo was designed by me, way back in 2013 when STG was in its infancy. It’s served us beautifully, but now that we’re four, and all grown up, we felt it was time for a sophisticated rebrand, a whole new aesthetic that reflects the fact that we are the biggest Jewish wedding blog in the world.

Take a look at us now

We’ve come a long way since 2013. Back then, it was just me, with a laptop and a very big dream. We have now grown into a fantastic team of five:

We have gorgeous Maria, our amazing editorial assistant; ever-delightful Claire, our much-loved client relations manager; effervescent Sara, our fantastic features writer, and wonderful Megan; our very talented social media manager. And, of course, there’s me, Karen, the founder and editor.

While I will always be at the helm, and at the heart of STG, steering its direction, the brand has evolved way beyond just me, and I’m so happy and proud that we are all able to share in the day-to-day excitement of what we do.

Our social media channels have also been given a sprucing, you can check them out below (and if you haven’t already – what are you waiting for?)
