Real Jewish Brides: What’s Most Important to Rebecca for her Wedding

16/10/2018 by Smashing The Glass

Rebecca will be marrying Danny on 1st September 2019 in London, UK. Click here to read all Rebecca’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Rebecca and Danny met on JSwipe (2) Rebecca is a Senior Event Planner at Food Story (who just so happen to be our favorite kosher caterers!) and plans other people’s weddings for a living (3) Rebecca and Danny are planning a “Marbella meets Tuscany” themed wedding in the heart of London!

What Really Matters

Working for Food Story I get to see so many beautiful weddings; stunning centrepieces, bespoke stages, dancefloors, bars, the list can go on. But when working on an event I am very much into the logistics and don’t often step back to take it all in.

During the busy wedding season just gone, I tried to find moments to think about:

  1. What is most important during a wedding?
  2. What is important for guests to feel at a wedding?
  3. What’s most important for the couple at a wedding?

I am not sure I have the answers for everyone, however for me I know that the answer to all three questions is… LOVE. Most people who know me will tell you I am not very sentimental, so this answer was a little surprising. But, when I think about our wedding day all I can think about is surrounding myself with the people I love most.

Real Jewish Brides: Jay’s Got Less Than 7 Weeks To Go!

09/10/2018 by Smashing The Glass

Jay will be marrying Tom on 24th November 2018 at Hyatt Churchill, London, UK. Click here to read all Jay’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: Jay and Tom met on Tinder (Tinder For The Win!) (2) These two are planning a big fat Jew-ish wedding (Jay is Jewish, Tom is not) but in Jay’s words: “Tom was brought up in Edgware and has more of a love for chopped liver and bagels than I do!” (3) Jay is a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor and Tom works at Facebook.

Last few crazy weeks!

It’s been a crazy few weeks since my last post, as mentioned previously I was sitting in a hospital ward writing whilst Tom, my fiancà©, was having knee surgery. Following the surgery, I too, became unwell so the combination of trying to be a nurse for Tom, a wedding planner and being ill myself has been really quite manic!

Thank goodness we are now all on the up, Tom still has some way to go with his recovery but hopefully he will be Jewish dancing ready just in time… in under 7 weeks and counting!

Real Jewish Brides: Rebecca’s Only Got Two Weeks To Go!

25/09/2018 by Smashing The Glass

Rebecca will be marrying David on 7th October 2018 at a secret location in Israel! Click here to read all Rebecca’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Rebecca and David met on JSwipe (so old school we know 😉 ) (2) They are having a destination wedding in Israel at a secret location! (3) They are getting married on Rebecca’s grandparents wedding anniversary (who have been married for 64 years). We LOVE that!

Almost There…

Well, we made it! Two weeks to go! And what a journey this has been.

I must say whilst it has been crazy.. David and I have learnt a lot about ourselves and have worked together well to get everything ready in time for the big day. The flat is FINISHED, it was a race against time but everything has arrived and I am almost fully moved in now, ready to leave West Hampstead when we come back from Israel. It’s been hard work doing lots of the work ourselves but we did it!

David had his Stag Do in Kent which he enjoyed (I’m happy to say he came back in one piece!). Lots of the boys came from all over including the US and Israel so he was really touched they made the journey.

Real Jewish Brides: Roxanne’s DIY Ideas for her Wedding

11/09/2018 by Smashing The Glass

Roxanne will be marrying Nathan on March 31st 2019 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Click here to read all Roxanne’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: Roxanne and Nathan met in summer 2010 at a Jewish summer camp in Missouri. (2) They are having a DIY wedding and Roxanne is toying with the idea of designing and sewing her own wedding dress as she has a background in sewing and historical fashion design (3) Roxanne is converting to Judaism and the couple are planning a traditional Jewish wedding with an Edwardian garden party feel!

A Lot of DIY-ing

Our wedding feel has evolved into an Edwardian garden party feel. Our venue is a foursquare style house in a city park, built in the 1910s. This is very important as it comes into play with our DIY’ing. An easier list is what we are not DIY’ing!

We are getting the food catered by professionals, photography, the grooms clothes, and our rings will all be done by pro’s too. Everything else we are doing DIY or DIY lite.

Real Jewish Brides: Jay’s On Her 100 Day Countdown!

28/08/2018 by Smashing The Glass

Jay will be marrying Tom on 24th November 2018 at Hyatt Churchill, London, UK. Click here to read all Jay’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: Jay and Tom met on Tinder (Tinder For The Win!) Enjoying Our Friends’ Weddings

Wedding life is all starting to feel very real now! We’ve had a very busy few months celebrating our friends’ weddings, both in the UK and abroad (but this has also allowed us to steal a few cheeky ideas and get lots of inspiration for our own wedding!).

Although each wedding has been completely different (and ours too being different from theirs) it is so nice sharing all these special times together!

We went to our last wedding of the summer last weekend, and my fiancà© and I sat down at the end of the evening just observing the night and had a little moment of ‘oh my gosh, we are next!’ – the realisation kicked in and made it all the more exciting.

I had taken a little pause with wedding planning over the summer as I got myself quite organised before this time and wanted to relax and enjoy the fun over the summer. But now as we head into the start of September the countdown is on and wedding planning is back in action!Continue ReadingContinue Reading
