Smashing The Glass at New York Bridal Market!

05/10/2018 by Emily Sacharin

It’s the most wonderful time of the yeeeeeeear… New York Bridal Fashion Week, aka Bridal Market! It’s basically Fashion Week, but for bridal designers. And now that Team STG has a New York-based member – that’d be me, Emily, your friendly Client Relations Manager – we’re able to bring you the Spring ‘19 fashions live from the catwalk.

Bridal Market really is one of the exciting times in a wedding blogger’s year, and we have invites to some absolutely fantastic shows this time around. I’ll be posting it all on Smashing The Glass’s Instagram Stories, so stay tuned over the next few days for some gorgeous gowns, fab accessories, and a behind-the-scenes peek into the life of a wedding blogger!

I have a super packed schedule over the next few days – I’ll be running around the city from Midtown to Chelsea to Soho to see the latest and greatest from some of our absolute favorites, including Lela Rose and Ines Di Santo (I’ll be joining the fabulous Caroline Burstein of Browns Bride for these two!), Vera Wang, Alon Livne, Dany Mizrachi, Halfpenny London, Hermione de Paula, Lee Petra Grebenau, Emmy London, Caroline Castigliano, Limor Rosen, Sassi Holford, aaaand… Suzanne Neville!

Follow along at #STGBridalMarket

Could you be one of our 2019/20 real blogging brides?

02/10/2018 by Karen

BLOGGING-BRIDE
Happy Tuesday! How has October been treating you so far? Well it’s about to get that bit better as today I’m opening the doors to becoming a real blogging bride for Smashing The Glass!

That’s right – I’m looking for a group of 2019 / 2020 brides-to-be to become our STG real blogging brides. As a winning bride, you’ll get to blog regularly (every 4 to 6 weeks) for Smashing The Glass sharing the highs and lows of planning your Jewish (or Jew-ish) wedding. You’ll be able to share your plans with, and seek advice from, the wonderfully loyal community of STG readers from all over the world.

Then, at the end of the experience you’ll not only get to celebrate your wedding, you’ll also get to have it lovingly blogged on the pages of Smashing The Glass.

If you would like to become an STG real blogging bride, you must have already set your wedding date, and that date must fall any time from 1st March 2019 onwards. You must also have a flair for writing, and be able to commit to contributing one blog post every 4 to 6 weeks. There’ll be plenty of guidance, and a few bloggy treats sprinkled along the way too!

To apply to be an STG blogging bride, please send the following details to karen@smashingtheglass.com with the subject line: “I want to blog for STG”  The closing date for entries is midnight on Sunday 28th October 2018.

Everything You Need to Know about Planning a Destination Wedding in Italy {with Eleganté by Michelle J}

30/09/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

ITALIAN-DESTINATION-WEDDINGS
You might have noticed that I am totally obsessed with dreamy Italian destination Jewish (and Jew-ish) weddings. Between the historic elegance of the cities and those fantastic rolling hills in the countryside (not to mention that out-of-this-world Italian light), there’s just something about them I can’t get enough of.

That’s why I’m beyond thrilled that premiere Italian wedding specialist Michelle Jacobs of Elegante by Michelle J will be chatting with me live on the the Smashing The Glass Facebook page this Thursday, 4 October!

Michelle’s specialty is helping UK-based couples plan luxury Jewish weddings in Italy, and her work is totally and utterly breathtaking. She has planned some absolutely epic weddings (one of which we’re ecstatic to be blogging this coming Wednesday — watch this space… eek!), full of the most gorgeous details. Based in London, Michelle is intimately familiar with both Italian and UK vendors who can help make your destination wedding a smashing success.

Mirror Mirror London: Celebrating 29 Years of Beautiful Brides

27/09/2018 by Smashing The Glass

This is a guest post by Maria Yiannikaris, co-founder of Mirror Mirror London

It’s a family affair!

Jane, my business partner, and I look at each other and smile, not actually believing so much time has passed since we first hatched the idea of starting a bridal design company. We had both trained at The London College of Fashion, but our paths didn’t cross until some years later.

Being raised by a very talented mother in the clothing industry it seemed only natural for me to go into clothing design. My parents were originally disappointed as they would have preferred I became a lawyer!

I had worked as a commercial designer (technical pattern cutting and turning a flat design into a beautiful 3-dimensional form is still one of my favourite things) both in high street fashion and luxury evening wear when I took a sabbatical to raise my young family.

I was still working on private commissions from home when I made my first wedding gown, a beautiful labour of love for my younger sister. Working with beautiful evening wear fabrics had left me with the idea that if I was to stay in design I only wanted to work with the most beautiful and the very best quality fabrics.
