STG has been nominated in two categories in the 2016 Wedding Blog Awards!

05/09/2016 by Karen

VOTE-STG-2016
I have some really exciting news to share with you — Smashing The Glass  has been  shortlisted in not one, but  TWO  categories in the  2016 Wedding Blog Awards!

It’s an absolute honour to be named alongside so many of my favourite blogging peers (including some of the biggest blogs in the world!) in two fabulous categories — Best Multi-Cultural Weddings Blog and Best LGBT Wedding Blog. (In case you’re interested you can see all my amazing multi-cultural weddings here  and my  incredible  same-sex Jewish weddings here).

My categories includes some  of the biggest wedding blogs in the world so if you would like to signal support for Smashing The Glass, you can follow this link to vote.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your wonderful  support so far (Oh G-d,  please stop me… I’m starting to sound like Gwyneth!)  but it genuinely means so much to me that you  share in the joint inspiration of Smashing The Glass.

Voting closes on 30 September and the Awards ceremony is being held in London in October. I’ll be sure to update you with all the news and gossip and hopefully a little something for the mantlepiece!

The Wedding Blog Awards: A Thank You

14/10/2014 by Karen

Wedding-Blog-Awards

On  Friday night I donned  a cocktail  dress and heels and trotted down to the Savoy for the glitz and glamour of the  Wedding Blog Awards, taking  Mr STG with me! I was super excited to mingle with the country’s top bloggers and wedding industry  crà¨me de la crà¨me for the 2014 Awards organised by  the fabulous  Wedding magazine.

Mr STG and I had been invited as Smashing The Glass had been nominated in two categories: Best Real Weddings and Best Newcomer thanks, (in a very big way) to your voting support.

I was so thrilled to be in the running, and of course I would loved to have won a gong, but being shortlisted in two  categories in my first year of blogging, alongside the  greats such as Love My Dress, Rock n Roll Bride and Bridal Musings  is no small feat for a 16 month old blog, so I’m still exceedingly  proud!

Smashing The Glass features in this week’s Jewish Chronicle

22/08/2014 by Karen

jewish-chronicle-smashing-the-glass
I’m in the diary section
of the Jewish Chronicle today – such a sweet piece! Thank you to the lovely folk at The JC for writing about me.

If you’ve found Smashing The Glass via this article well hello there! You can read all about why I started the blog here, and see my own Jewish wedding (at London’s Wallace Collection)  here. In fact, the  heart and soul of SmashingTheGlass.com are the real Jewish weddings  so I think that’s a great place to start.

Click here and you’ll find  all the UK Jewish weddings that I’ve blogged about  with everything from this  outrageously cool London Jewish wedding, to this breathtaking ‘HinJew’ wedding at the Mandarin Oriental where the bride and groom intertwined their Indian and Jewish heritages incredibly beautifully, to this New Years Eve fancy dress wedding held in an Arthouse cinema, to this South London Jewish wedding that was held in a chapel(!),and this Wedstock-themed wedding featuring a bride who made her entire dress out of paper. You can bet your bottom dollar that I’ve blogged about every Jewish wedding  in between too.

I also regularly post wedding planning articles  and have  blogged  about everything from what are the best chuppah entrance songs, to tips for getting great wedding photography to how to incorporate ‘Jewish’ into a non-Jewish or interfaith wedding, inspiration for chuppah ideas, and lots more.

And if you’re still on the hunt for that perfect photographer, DJ, chazan, or venue, my  Smashing Suppliers section is a great place to start.  It’s my handpicked selection of the most stylish brands and services the wedding industry has to offer, and you’ll not only be able to click through to the suppliers own websites to see what they say about themselves, you’ll be able to see a lot of their work first hand in the real Jewish weddings section and read the opinion of couples that have actually used them.

I love helping my readers plan their weddings but the best part is when couples email me their own photographs after their wedding and tell me that Smashing The Glass helped them have the wedding they truly wanted!

By the way if you’re reading this and you’re already  married, be sure to send me a submission. It’s my readers who ultimately make my blog a must-read and I can’t wait to hear from you!

Can I have the Wedding Blog Award cake and eat it?

19/08/2014 by Karen

Vote-STG-Wedding-Blog-Awards
Can I? Well  with the competition I’m up against (read Love My Dress,  Rock n Roll Bride, Bridal Musings and Juno & Joy to name but a few ) it’s certainly not going to be a piece of cake.  But if I were to win, it would be the icing on the cake.  Ok, ok,  I hear ya.. enough of the cake gags. I’ll stop now! It’s just this gorgeous creation, so kindly made  by the Cinnamon Cake Company (no relation by the way) is begging to be blogged for such purposes, and I for one, cannot resist.

Just  in case you have  absolutely no idea what I’m talking about, let me tell you that Smashing The Glass  has been nominated  for not one but TWO  esteemed  2014 Wedding Blog Awards! Yes STG has  been shortlisted  in both the  Best Bridal Newcomer Blog  category and the  Best Real Life Weddings  Blog  categories and I could not be more thrilled. I want to give great big bear hugs  to everyone who took the time to nominate me as  it’s all by virtue of your wonderful support that I’ve made it this far (WARNING: X Factor-style clichà© phrases are almost over).

It’s a total honour to be named alongside so many of my favourite blogging peers (including some of the biggest blogs in the world!)  but the challenge isn’t over yet. In order to be in with a chance of winning I need you  to unleash  your voting powers  once more. It’s a 50/50 reader vote/judges’ decision situation, so your vote  really will make the difference! If you have a spare moment (it will literally take you 10 seconds) I can’t tell you how much I’d appreciate your support.

Some of my favourite bloggers are also up for awards, so if you’re not in a hurry,  I know it would mean a lot to them if you chose  your favourites in the other categories too.

So if you’re ready, head over to the Wedding Blog Awards shortlist  page  to cast your vote – you’ll find me in the  Best Real Life Weddings  Blog  category  (in the top right hand corner) and the  Best Bridal Newcomer Blog  category  (in the bottom left hand corner).  Voting closes in under a fortnight  on 31st  August, but why not do it now? It can be your good deed for  the day!

The glamorous Awards ceremony is being held at the exquisite  Savoy in central London  and I can’t wait to  attend, and tell you all the news from the night.  Thank you  so much  for getting me this far, but now let’s win this thing (and eat cake!)

YAY GRAPHIC
