The Wedding Blog Awards: A Thank You

14/10/2014 by Karen

On  Friday night I donned  a cocktail  dress and heels and trotted down to the Savoy for the glitz and glamour of the  Wedding Blog Awards, taking  Mr STG with me! I was super excited to mingle with the country’s top bloggers and wedding industry  crà¨me de la crà¨me for the 2014 Awards organised by  the fabulous  Wedding magazine.

Mr STG and I had been invited as Smashing The Glass had been nominated in two categories: Best Real Weddings and Best Newcomer thanks, (in a very big way) to your voting support.

I was so thrilled to be in the running, and of course I would loved to have won a gong, but being shortlisted in two  categories in my first year of blogging, alongside the  greats such as Love My Dress, Rock n Roll Bride and Bridal Musings  is no small feat for a 16 month old blog, so I’m still exceedingly  proud!

Best Real Weddings went to Annabel and her team at  Love My Dress and  Best Newcomer went to Charlotte from  Fizzybunting, two blogs that I personally adore.

I want to take a moment to personally congratulate all  the worthy winners, but in particular I am overjoyed for my BBF (Best Blogging Friend) the amazing Nova from Nu Bride who works so hard and was so deserved of her recognition for Best Big Day Inspiration. Nova, I’m so incredibly proud of you. And that acceptance speech.. just WOW.

It was an honour to be in the same room as so many inspiring women (and a few men!) and I want to say thank you to Wedding magazine and The Savoy for putting on such a fabulous evening overflowing with champagne,  luscious  canapà©s, cakes of all shapes and sizes, bulging goody bags, and a social media lounge (complete with a  giant illuminated  hashtag!). I must also say how  lovely it was to meet so many    of the Wedding team peeps in person, having chatted to them ‘virtually’ over email and Twitter for so long.

But of course, most  of all I want to say thank YOU, dear readers, for seeing something special in Smashing The Glass and allowing me to continue working hard on something that I adore. I love bringing you incredible Jewish (and Jew-ish!) wedding  inspiration and I  can’t thank you enough for all your championing and support.

Karen x
