2020 Real Jewish Brides: Introducing Jos + Daniel: How They Met To The Present Day…

02/10/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Today on the blog we’re introducing our 5th gorgeous bride from our crop of 2020 Real Jewish Brides! Please give a warm welcome to Jos, who will be marrying Daniel on 28th June 2020 at Hackney Town Hall, London, UK.

THREE FACTS: (1) Before meeting Daniel, Jos was known for her torrid dating tales – so much so that her friends used to call her Bridget Jonestein! (2) Daniel proposed to Jos in the Greek island of Naxos! (3) Jos is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

How you met to the present day

My friends used to call me Bridget Jonestein. I was always the single one at the wedding, the last (wo)man standing in my groups of friends. I would go on date after date with unsuitable men and eventually came to the conclusion that I was happy single.

I decided I was an independent career woman, but would still enjoy regaling my friends with my torrid dating tales. They were so good (or bad), that one of my best friends declared she would pay £9.99 a month just to read them and who was I to disappoint?

So, having decided I was happy being single, but with an expectant audience, I continued to lazily browse the dating apps until one day, I matched with Daniel on Tinder.

I’d love to tell you that it was love at first sight and we had an incredible first date, but neither of us would describe it as that. Our first date was in fact, awkward.

We went to an average pub in Hampstead, both sent our meals back and I spent much of the evening walking around the pub with my phone torch on, looking for an earring that I thought I’d lost (turned out I’d left it on my dressing table).

However, despite the awkwardness, Daniel made me laugh and after a few dates I decided I was really quite fond of him.

THREE FACTS: (1) Jaime and Varun will be having a Jewish ceremony AND a Hindu ceremony – on the same day! (2) They’re planning a swanky but not stuffy wedding at one of our fave California venues, Hummingbird Nest Ranch! (3) Jaime is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

1 month to go!

Here we are – the final sprint until the big day!

September 1 we had my bridal shower and it was so much fun to be with my family and spend the time. My mom and my aunts threw me the most beautiful shower – where I told her I wanted it to be “all things sparkly, colorful and rainbow” aka ungapatchka, lol!

2020 Real Jewish Brides: Introducing Janine + Paul: How They Met To The Present Day…

18/09/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Today on the blog we’re introducing our 4th gorgeous bride from our crop of 2020 Real Jewish Brides! Please give a warm welcome to Janine, who will be marrying Paul on 26th July 2020 at Fasque Castle, Scotland, UK.

THREE FACTS: (1) Janine and fiance Paul met on Bumble. (2) The two of them are planning an interfaith Jew-ish wedfest weekend, to include everything from a whiskey tasting to mini highland games! (3) Janine is a member of  Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

How We Met

Paul and I met “the modern way” via the Bumble dating app – it’s a romance that nearly never happened! When we were due to have our first date, I accidentally locked myself out of my flat, and had to wait for my landlord to bring spare keys so I was forced to cancel on Paul at the last-minute when he was already on his way!

Fortunately, he saw the funny side; both of us were pretty flexible and met the next day. I’ll never forget the beaming smile on his face as I walked into the pub in Greenwich – it’s forever etched in my mind, and really epitomises the person that he is – a smiley, lovely man.

On the other hand Paul will never forget (and often reminds me), of me eating mountains of French Bread with the baked camembert we shared, because I was too embarrassed to tell him that I’m gluten intolerant; at the time we met it wasn’t really ‘a thing’ and more for hipsters – a hipster I am not!

2020 Real Jewish Brides: Introducing Sarah + Rich: How They Met To The Present Day…

11/09/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Today on the blog we’re introducing our 3rd gorgeous bride from our crop of 2020 Real Jewish Brides! Please give a warm welcome to Sarah, who will be marrying Rich on 21th June 2020 at Tikitano Beach, Marbella, Spain.

THREE FACTS: (1) Sarah knew Rich was the one when he brought a gift of dog treats for her toy poodle Nuala along to their fourth date! (2) They are crafting an amazing destination wedding weekend in Marbella with beloved Smashing The Glass Recommended vendor optimum weddings as their planner. (3) Sarah is a member of  Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

How We Met

My fiance Richard and I met on the dating app J-Swipe. At that time, Richard was treating dating like a prospective business transaction and I was totally over the dating scene! However, my best friend was determined for me to meet someone and so she took my phone and signed me up to J-Swipe without even asking me! Before I knew it, she was swiping “yes” to all the prospective men that she deemed suitable and Rich was one of them!

I was acting at the time and once we got chatting and Richard’s opening line to me on J-Swipe was, “If you could play any character in a TV show or film, who would it be?” I replied, “the fierce and sassy Olivia Pope from Scandal!” I was secretly impressed with his different opener and thought he was worth a shot!

A Julie Vino Bride for a New Orleans-Meets-Israel Jewish Wedding in a Private House Outside Tel Aviv, Israel

06/09/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

A New Orleans-meets-Tel Aviv wedding?! Yes, please – what’s not to love about a big day that combines the best of two of the world’s greatest party cities? Bride Laura, who runs her own English teaching business in Tel Aviv and teaches high school humanities, knew from the start she wanted to combine her American Southern background with the all-Israeli roots of groom Elad, a front end web developer for a start-up company.

Sounds like a tall order, right? But nothings’ too much for the team at amazing Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Bebke, who understood exactly what the couple wanted and fused together their vision of an eclectic New Orleans style meets funky Israeli vibe to create a one of a kind wedding. Even the catering got in on the game – Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Maasia worked New Orleans French style, American southern, and Mediterranean Israeli food into the menu, and scored a runaway hit with late-night corndogs that guests are still raving about!

As if the theme weren’t awesome enough, we’re equally obsessed with all of the personal touches these two put into their big day. Laura and Elad wanted their brothers – four between the two of them – to hold each corner of their chuppah, so they went with a simple hand-held bamboo setup to make it happen. They also had a “dog of honor” – their beloved Kimchi – join them under the chuppah! We’re in love with Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ronen Boidek’s breathtaking photos of it all – as Laura said herself, he is just so skilled at capturing “not only the big moments but the small ones as well.”

Now over to Laura, who looked so beautiful in her Julie Vino dress…

How we met

Laura, the bride: We met on Tinder believe it or not, when it was brand new in Tel Aviv. We both were receiving hundreds of matches but somehow I ended up answering his message. Our first conversation was about our music taste which wasn’t the standard topic when Tinder first began. I had a gut feeling there was something there. We went on a date a few weeks later and took off from there. That was almost five years ago.
