Real Jewish Brides: Jaime’s Final Countdown

25/09/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Jaime will be marrying Varun on 26th October 2019 at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, California, USA. Click here to read all Jaime’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) Jaime and Varun will be having a Jewish ceremony AND a Hindu ceremony – on the same day! (2) They’re planning a swanky but not stuffy wedding at one of our fave California venues, Hummingbird Nest Ranch! (3) Jaime is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

1 month to go!

Here we are – the final sprint until the big day!

September 1 we had my bridal shower and it was so much fun to be with my family and spend the time. My mom and my aunts threw me the most beautiful shower – where I told her I wanted it to be “all things sparkly, colorful and rainbow” aka ungapatchka, lol!

Still so much to do…

I cannot believe our wedding will be here sooner than I know it. As I write this blog I am about to pack to leave to Paris and Israel tomorrow and just got back from NYC yesterday for Varun’s final tux fitting.

Having a multicultural wedding 3,000 miles away, getting your dress in Israel and choosing a venue that requires literally building everything from the ground up sounds sexy as hell on paper – then you go to do it and you just thank God you hired Leora from Best Bride!

Basically every minute until our wedding day is planned and we’ve got so much to do – but it’s all fun things and it’s been SUCH a fun process so I feel so good!

I am heading to Paris with my dad to pick up some wedding things and then I will go to Israel to meet with Helena and Julia of Helena Kolan for my final fitting. I am feeling SO nervous because I haven’t seen ANYTHING close to the final dress yet and I am freaking out.

I am usually not a stressed person but I have had 3 nightmares about the wedding so far – it’s so fascinating to see what is coming up in my subconscious mind – but I’m glad it’s getting sorted out there and not in real life!

What We Did Last Months and What’s next

When we were in LA with Leora in August we did our food tasting, cake tasting, floral meeting and went over timeline of the day – since the day of is SO jam packed with events we realized I will need to start hair and makeup at 4 am – OYY!

Something to keep in mind for future brides who have long wedding days – because of the length of our day we had to add many hours to photography, video, hair and makeup. We are even doing a second day photo shoot on the Monday following the wedding because we simply won’t be able to get in all the photos we want on the day of.

It’s all becoming real now – which is exciting but also sad because I’ve been having so much fun planning it all!

Here we are doing a venue walk through with Leora and our badass team!!

So this week I will head to Europe and Israel, then I get back around Rosh Hashanah – spend time with family and dash out to LA for our final floral meetings and one more cake tasting (LOL we have to be sure!).

We went with Rafi of Rafi’s Cakes and I needed to have the biggest one he could do – so 6.5 ft here we go. Rafi is amazing and he used to be a taste expert for a very famous candy company so let’s just say the man knows his cake!

We will also head to San Francisco for my final Indian dress fitting and then back to NYC for Varun’s final tux fitting and Philly for his final Sherwani fitting. The travel points we are accumulating is ridiculous lol!

It’s been fun to really make this day/ceremony our own. When we were in LA we met with our band Eli’s Band and our DJ, Dhamaka. We are doing such an amazing blend of cultures for our guests between the food and entertainment – we are psyched!

Mailing our invites in LA was also… fun… Lol! Shoutout to the NICEST people at the post office who stayed open late to help us before we jetted out to the airport.

We also picked up our wedding bands from Maytal Hannah. I decided to go unconventional and do a right hand wedding band that was not solid. I feel it’s so important for the ceremony and the elements to feel like US.

I’m sad this will be my last official post as a STG bride to be but I can’t wait to share with you everything from our wedding day – it will be so fun to share!
