An Andalusian Fantasy Ashkenazi-Sephardi Jewish Wedding at Villa Luisa, Seville, Spain

02/05/2022 by Karen Cinnamon

Rebecca & Emmanuel, Villa Luisa, Seville, Spain

We love it when a couple lets their Jewish wedding locale set the stage for an ultra-memorable celebration – which is exactly what Parisian duo Rebecca, a physiatrist, and Emmanuel, an epidemiologist, did when they chose to make it official in Seville, Spain!

The pair chose Andalusia not only for its fabulous East-meets-West architecture and delectable cuisine, but also for its rich Jewish history, in tribute to the bride’s Sephardic heritage.

And their amazing wedding planner, Charlotte Ricard-Quesada from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor La Fête – who Rebecca and Emmanuel found right here on Smashing The Glass – brought their dreams to life exquisitely – on a super tight timeline, no less! Charlotte’s fluency in Spanish and experience planning weddings in Seville made the process a breeze, and she connected the pair with many of their fabulous vendors – including their breathtaking venue Villa Luisa, which captures the splendor of old Andalusia in all its glory. Don’t miss the dreamy photos by Juan Luis Morilla!

And did we mention that Rebecca and Emmanuel’s Seville-based kosher caterer, Taim, served up authentic Andalusian tapas – which are often difficult to find with kosher certification?

There’s so much more to say about this one-of-a kind wedding, but we’ll turn you over to Rebecca to hear about the rest…

How we Met

Rebecca, the bride: We met on the internet 17 years ago. I was looking for someone who could lend me medical books, Emmanuel had some and the exchange took place at the Saint-Germain-des-Prés metro station, near the medical school.Continue ReadingContinue Reading

A Leanne Marshall Bride for an Oceanfront Jewish Wedding at Casa Marina Resort, Key West, Florida, USA

25/04/2022 by Karen Cinnamon

Kimberly-Darren-Casa-Marina-Resort-Key-West-Florida-USA

We always say there’s nothing like a Jewish wedding on the beach – well, today’s couple, Kimberly and Darren, went one better and planned a full-fledged wedding weekend away from it all in beautiful Key West!

Chill island vibes, a chuppah on the beach, ‘20s Spanish-style architecture galore, all so beautifully photographed by Karrie Porter Photography – what could be better?!

And we’re obsessed with the couple’s gorgeous ketubah from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubah.com. Kimberly and Darren picked a design by artist Shell Rummel, featuring an infinity symbol with the phrase “I Carry Your Heart” from the poem by EE Cummings – and as it turns out, the couple have a line from that same poem engraved inside of their wedding bands! So special.

Before we hand you over to the bride – who looked so elegant in Leanne Marshall – we’ve got to say we love that one of her main bits of advice to future brides and grooms is to book a day of coordinator! We are BIG fans of handing off logistics on the day to a pro so that the two of you can relax and enjoy the day, and we’re always so glad to see couples going this route.

Over to you, Kimberly!

How we Met

Kimberly, the bride: Darren and I met at a restaurant we were both working at. I had just graduated college and was serving, Darren had just come back to Florida after serving in the IDF and was a line cook. We had seen each other but didn’t go on out first date until after working together for a few months. Darren messaged me on Facebook and we discussed a mutual interest in poetry and writing. On our first date, I actually brought a collection of some of my favorite poetry books for Darren to read!

After dating for a year in Florida we decided on adventure and moved across the country to Denver, CO with our two cats. There Darren finished law school and I began a career in nonprofit work. Fast forward to now and Darren is a civil litigation attorney and I am in marketing for a nationwide nonprofit.Continue ReadingContinue Reading

A Sassi Holford Bride for a Gothic Fairy Tale Halloween Wedding at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, London, UK

21/04/2022 by Karen Cinnamon

Candy-Sam-St-Pancras-Renaissance-London-UK

There’s nothing we love like seeing a couple put their own totally unique stamp on their Jewish wedding – which is exactly what today’s couple, Candy and Sam, did! These two opted to get married on Halloween, and they let the date serve as inspiration for their gothic fairy tale-style day, low on pumpkins and skulls but high on haunted house vibes and tarot card styling.

Candy and Sam found the perfect partner to bring their vision to life in wedding planner Michelle Jacobs of Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Elegante by Michelle J. Michelle totally got their unique vision, and she introduced the pair to so many of their amazing suppliers – including Pippa Mackenzie Photography, who captured these incredible images. The duo can’t stop gushing about Michelle’s amazing service, throughout the planning process and on the day too.

The couple chose Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Rabbi Paul Glantz as their officiant, and they loved that he encouraged them to write their own personalized ketubah text – which they then read aloud from during the ceremony!

For entertainment, Candy and Sam chose Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Totem’s gospel choir and full live band, a choice that resulted in an awesome party. In Candy’s words, “The music was one of the huge successes of the night, during dinner we had a huge party break out and the band and guests went wild. People were dancing on chairs, people’s shoulders and even the windowsills. It was outrageous in the best way possible.”

Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Adam Nathan Catering provided the couple’s kosher-style catering, and he was incredibly flexible and easy to work with, despite having a lot of opinions to take into account! Candy and Sam loved the way he brought everyone’s ideas together to create a totally delicious meal.

There’s so much more to say, but we’ll leave the rest to the bride, who looked smashing in Sassi Holford…

How we Met

Candice, the bride: We met at The University of Leeds in our third year. Sam then moved down to London so that we could carry on seeing each other and we began our careers. Sam pursued a role in television and is now a TV Director launching a food and wine show whilst I am a Creative Director at a creative agency specialising in social media.Continue ReadingContinue Reading

A Maison Aries Bride for a Magical Autumnal Jewish Wedding at Villa Le Corti in San Casciano Val di Pesa, Tuscany, Italy

18/04/2022 by Karen Cinnamon

Ludivine and David, Villa le Corti, Italy

Today’s couple, Ludivine and David, had one of the most exquisite autumn Jewish weddings we’ve seen – and we see a lot! With the help of their amazing wedding planner, Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Deborah di Castro, the pair was able to bring all of their Tuscan autumnal fantasies to life – and then some!

They opted for moody autumnal colors, from rusted orange to deep violet, and their décor went all in on the autumnal fruits Italy is known for, like chestnuts and figs. And don’t even get us started on the couple’s amazing chuppah – absolutely not to be missed in Antonio Carneroli’s magical photos.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Ludivine and David started out with a totally dreamy venue, Villa Le Corti – pure Tuscan romance. And we’re obsessed with Ludivine’s unconventional gown from Maison Aries – such a unique, modern look, yet 100% fit for a fairy tale princess.

Now over to Ludivine…

How we Met

Ludivine, the bride: David was my tutor in law school for a semester in 2014, and was at the same time buddies with my brother. From 2014 to 2019 we would run into each other at birthdays, weddings, parties. We finally met again, in May 2020, in the middle of Covid. Since that day, we never left each other.
