An Inbal Dror Bride for a Vintage Glamor Jewish Wedding at Essendon Country Club, UK

10/01/2018 by Karen

Jewish-Wedding-Essendon-Country-Club-UK
Lovers of vintage glamor, take note – today’s stunning, old Hollywood-style Jewish Essendon Country Club wedding is definitely one for you!

Set in a barn and accented with gold tones, Laura and Gio’s wedding stayed true to the couple’s motto: ‘keep it simple’, while still looking insanely chic and luxe! Oh, and there were personalized cocktails, just in case you weren’t already at peak FOMO!

We love Israeli designers for their sense of subtle but smoking hot sex appeal, and Inbal Dror gowns truly tick these boxes. Bride Laura looked like an A-lister in her gorgeous and ridiculously flattering embellished, gold-tone dress, with some seriously on fleek hair and makeup game going on, too!

The loved-up couple, who actually met over the phone during a work call, and hit it off so well that they stayed in touch, made sure the day was about them and their adoration of one another, sneaking off regularly to really take in their surroundings.

A true Smashing The Glass wedding, there were three Recommended Vendors involved in making the day so incredible. Wedding band, Totem, totally rocked the reception, and earned a glowing writeup from bride, Laura.

Rabbi Paul Glantz, another much-loved Recommended Vendor led the moving ceremony, and the story of the day was told in the beautiful, documentary-style spread of images by phenomenal RV, Paul Rogers. What a dream team!

It’s definitely time to let Laura loose on the blog to fill us in on all the big-day details, so take it away, Laura!

How we met

Laura, the bride: We meet the phone years ago when Gio was in recruitment. I called up (the company I was working for was looking to employ) and ended up speaking to Gio. We began a phone and email friendship and one day decided to meet up in person, and that was it, the voice over the phone ended up being the love of my life. Continue ReadingContinue Reading

Real Jewish Brides – Mel: Choosing The Right Menu for our Jewish Wedding

09/01/2018 by Smashing The Glass

Mel  will be marrying Mitch on Sunday 18 March 2018, in a Jewish wedding at Warren Weir at Luton Hoo, UK.

THREE FACTS: (1) Mel and Mitch met online on JDate (2) Their Jewish wedding will be classy and traditional with plenty of modern touches  (3) Mel is a member of Smashing The Glass’s private Jewish & Jew-ish Brides Facebook Group. Not yet a member? Come join us here!

Food glorious food

Imagine you’re arriving in New York. What’s the first thing you would do? Visit Times Square? Go shopping? Stroll round Central Park?

Mitch and I went to New York in 2015. “Mel, what did you and Mitch do when you arrived in New York?” I hear you cry.

We ate.

Then got on a train to Hoboken in New Jersey. For one reason and one reason only. Not to visit the United Synagogue of Hoboken. Nor to visit the Hoboken Historical Museum. But to visit one of my dream places. Somewhere to tick off my bucket list.

Carlo’s Bakery.

For those of you who have watched Cake Boss will understand why. Or simply if you have an appreciation for delicious baked goods. Travelling all that way meant that it was only right to sample a selection of sweet treats; Cupcakes. Cookies. Brownies. Cannoli’s. Carlo’s famous lobster tails (not actual lobster). There is a Carlo’s Bakery on Times Square which would have been easier, quicker and arguably a much more sensible option. But of course I had to visit the original bakery. We did also pay the Times Square bakery a visit (Read: several visits).

I would be lying if I said this one wasn’t of the main reasons I wanted to go to New York…

I am a massive foodie. I love food. Luckily Mitch loves food just as much as I do — a recipe for a happy relationship!

A Paolo Sebastian Bride for a Whimsical Outdoor Jewish Wedding at Farmington, Pennsylvania, USA

08/01/2018 by Karen

Jewish wedding Kentuck Knob, Farmington, Pennsylvania, USA_0029
We do love a whimsical, woodland Jewish wedding – there’s nothing quite like an outdoor ceremony set against a striking, natural backdrop — and we ADORE the origin story of today’s beautifully embroidered chuppah. We won’t ruin it for you, but make sure you check it out, because it’s absolutely wonderful!

Lena and Jacob met when she was hired to design the typography for a book that architect Jacob’s work was featured in. Realizing they attended the same college, she reached out to him on Facebook and the rest, as they say, is history. How romantic is that?

Lena also looked SO luxe and lovely in her stuff-of-dreams Paolo Sebastian gown, which fit her like a glove! Seriously, even if you’re already married, it’s a dress worthy of planning a whole second wedding around!

The gorgeous photography was provided by Steven Dray Images, please do feel free to feast your eyes on the spread of images, as well as Lena’s fabulous writeup. Enjoy!

How we met

Lena, the bride: We met when I was hired to design the typography for a book called “Encoding Architecture” that his work was being published in.

When I was putting his work into the book, I realized that we went to the same college and I reached out to him through Facebook. I said something to him like, “You don’t know me, but I am the designer for that book your work is going to be in.” We met up, and the rest was history.

A Naturally Beautiful Jewish Wedding in the Colorado Mountains at Vail Wedding Deck, Vail, Colorado, USA

05/01/2018 by Karen

Jewish Wedding Vail Wedding Deck, Vail, Colorado, USA_0112
Today’s gorgeous mountaintop Jewish real wedding is a testament to keeping it simple and letting your surroundings do the talking. This works particularly well when your surroundings happen to be the glorious mountains of Colorado!

With a little help from the Internet, and a lot of help from a rabbi with encyclopaedic local knowledge, Jordan and Josh made their dream day a reality, complete with a first look, a gondola ride to the top of the mountain and an epic hora dance – all in the same place that the Obamas stayed during their visit to Colorado!

Jordan and Josh are both lawyers, living in New York City, but had such a profound connection to Vail that they chose to have a destination wedding there, with 50+ friends and family flying out to celebrate with them.

Their intimate ceremony involved their close family, with all hands on deck for the music and blessings, which we definitely approve of!

We also ADORE the proposal story. Jordan and Josh met on a train platform when Jordan asked him for directions. The pair hit it off straight away, and Josh ended up riding the train to her destination with her. A few years later, Josh popped the question on the very same train platform. How adorable is that??

Back to the big day – Jordan looked simply beautiful in her David’s Bridal dress, and all the magic was expertly captured by photographer Sharee Davenport.

That’s enough from us – it’s now Jordan’s turn to take over Smashing The Glass to tell us all about her and Josh’s big day. Over to Jordan!

How we met

Jordan, the bride: We met when I was in law school (in Chicago) when Josh was visiting home for Yom Kippur from business school in New York. I was at the train station in Chicago going to my family’s house for breakfast and Josh was going to the suburbs for a Northwestern football game. I asked him for directions, and that’s how we met!

We ended up riding the train together that day and added each other on Facebook. He messaged me that night and said that, while he liked me, he lived in New York, and asked to set me up with his cousin. I said no, but to let me know the next time he was in town.  We met up that night and have been together ever since (almost four years).
