A Watters Bride for a Magical Destination Jewish Wedding with a Tent of Lights at Flora Farms in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico

08/10/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Destination Jewish wedding Flora Farms in San Jose del Cabo Mexico_0058
Okay, we’ve got three words for you: Tent. Of. Lights. Yes, Lindsay and Scott’s gorgeous outdoor dance floor at their destination Jewish wedding in Mexico was draped in the most magical tent of twinkly white lights, and we are totally obsessed with it. You don’t want to miss Julieta Amezcua Photography’s epic photos of it after dark.

Not that Flora Farms is by any means shabby during daylight hours. For starters, the pair married in an actual mango grove, aka tropical paradise. Yes, it’s as stunning as it sounds. Plus the unbelievable natural beauty was complemented by the perfect breezy chuppah, with a gauzy white canopy and just a touch of floral accent.

With a super cool letterpress ketubah from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubah.com to round things out, it’s safe to say that this was one stylish wedding. And that’s before we even get to Lindsay’s wonderful A-line dress from Watters — with a flowy tulle skirt and a fun floral design on the bodice, it was the perfect fit for this blissed-out day.

We’ll let the bride take it from here…

Flora Farms

Lindsay, the bride: We were married at Flora Farms in San Jose del Cabo. We fell in love with this venue after visiting, and we knew there was no where else we could see ourselves getting married. The venue truly speaks for itself. The Mango Grove has a large open space, where we had our dance floor surrounded by the DJ stand and tables, with a small barn-area for our bar.

A Suzanne Neville Bride for a Super Luxe Destination Jewish Wedding at the Great Synagogue of Florence and Villa de Maiano, Florence, Italy

03/10/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding Great Synagogue of Florence and Villa di Maiano, Florence, Italy_0021
BRB — booking a ticket to Florence. Okay, maybe not, but we are a million percent tempted by today’s dreamiest of Italian destination Jewish weddings. Between the ceremony at the majestic Great Synagogue of Florence to the swoon-worthy reception at Villa di Maiano, Paige and Richard‘s day was as dreamy as it gets (and they also had an adorable wedding hashtag — #paigegetsrich).

Much-loved STG Recommended Vendor Michelle Jacobs of Eleganté by Michelle J helped the couple pull all the fab design elements together from London, where they live. From the magical floral chuppah (who would’ve thought such a fresh, natural design would be the PERFECT fit for such a grand, historic space?) to THE most stunning top table we have ever, ever seen complete with a pergola, crystal chandeliers, hanging glass globes filled with tea lights (seriously, check out David Bastianoni’s photos — it is not to be missed!), we can safely say she hit a home run with this epic day. Oh… and Waterfall Visuals‘s film  below is the dreamiest thing ever.

We’re thrilled to have a chance to chat with their awesome planner, Michelle Jacobs, live on the Smashing The Glass Facebook page tomorrow at 7: 30 p.m. GMT/2:30 p.m. EST tomorrow, Thursday, October 4. And if you love today’s wedding as much as we do, do not miss this one as we’ll be covering all the ins and outs of planning a Jewish (or Jew-ish) wedding in Italy. Please do tune in, and bring your questions!

Another wonderful STG Recommended Vendor, Totem (who Paige and Richard loved enough to fly out from London!) provided ultra-emotional chuppah music before transitioning to party mode at the villa, where they kept the dancefloor packed all night. Talk about a smashing party! Oh, and speaking of things that are smashing, did we mention Paige and Richard used one of our very own Smash Glass pouches?!

We are also LOVING their exquisite stationery by Ruth Kaye Design another STG fave and Recommended Vendor… we’re literally dying over how fabulous everything about this wedding is. —don’t you agree?

We’ll let Paige, who looked goooooorgeous in her glam Suzanne Neville gown, take it from here…

A Room with a View

Paige, the bride: Our chuppah took place at the Great Synagogue of Florence and then afterwards we moved over to Villa di Maiano, a beautiful villa in Fiesole, a small town in the hills above Florence. Villa di Maiano is where the movie A Room with a View, was filmed (just celebrating the 30th anniversary of the film).

We went to see several venues, this was the first. We had a special feeling as soon as we walked into the gardens — we both cried — so we just knew this was the place for us. We did consider having our ceremony at Villa di Maiano, but Michelle suggested we visit the synagogue… and again, the minute we walked in we just knew we had to have our chuppah there.Continue ReadingContinue Reading

A Viktor & Rolf Bride for an Enchanted Garden Jewish Wedding at Havat Ronit, Israel

18/09/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding Havat Ronit Ronit Farm Israel_0002
A bridal cape, candy butterflies, tango music… swooooon. Today’s French-Israeli destination Jewish wedding is just SO full of fantastic, unique touches. Sarah, a lawyer (and member of our Brides Club), and Uri, who works in real estate, created the most wonderful, distinctive day — partly thanks to their “wedding bible,” (in Sarah’s own words!) Smashing The Glass!

Sarah reports that she found lots of her vendors through STG, found inspo for details, and more. Our fave quote from her awesome writeup? “It’s a miracle I didn’t find my husband on it too.” LOVE.

But back to the cape. We are OBSESSED. Our friends at fab London bridal boutique and STG Recommended Vendor Mirror Mirror deemed 2018 “the year of the cape” on the Facebook Live they did with us earlier this year, and after seeing how Sarah pulled hers off we’re inclined to agree. Photographer Camellia captured the glorious fashion — plus all the other details of the day — so exquisitely.

Sarah looked just so elegant and distinctive in that cape — obviously her hyper-glam dress (that tiered skirt!) from Viktor & Rolf didn’t hurt either — and we love how it’s an easy way to add that little something extra for the ceremony. And the story of how Sarah ended up with it is pretty cool in its own right.

We also love that Sarah chose to depart from the bridal script and walk down the aisle to… a tango! How’s that for a dramatic entrance (you know, to go with that cape)? Turning it over to the gorgeous bride, Sarah…

How we met

Sarah, the bride: I am French but grew up between Paris and Madrid and moved to New York 11 years ago. Uri grew up in Hertzlyia in Israel, and moved to New York 6 years ago.

We were set up by our only friend in common at the time, we kissed on our first date. 2 years later Uri proposed in the middle of Washington Square Park where we had wandered around on our first date. Our matchmaker was our witness at our civil wedding in New York.Continue ReadingContinue Reading

A Calla Blanche Bride for a Colorful Outdoor Destination Jewish Wedding at Casa Felix in Barcelona, Spain

10/09/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish Wedding Casa Felix Barcelona Spain
Shana Tova lovely readers! Can you believe it’s Rosh Hashanah already? Where did summer go?! What are you all doing to celebrate? Are you getting away to somewhere gorgeous?

Today’s fantastic couple did for their stunning destination Jewish wedding…in Spain! Julia, a cake decorator (though sadly, she couldn’t make her own wedding cake, given the distance!), and Brian, a restaurant manager, are obsessed with Spanish culture and cuisine, and knew they wanted an intimate destination day, so it was really a no-brainer for them to choose to wed at historic, picturesque Casa Felix.

Full of rich colors, Spanish vibes (including a traditional flamenco show.. I mean WOW!), and gorgeous views, we love how Julia and Brian let their stunning venue set the tone for their wedding aesthetic. Everything just fits together so exquisitely, from the unusual color combo on their fabulous floral chuppah (yes, purple and orange CAN go together!) to  photographer Andrea Ferrara’s elegant style.

The pair credit their amazing planner, Smashing The Glass recommended vendor Reviva Weddings’ Laura, with making it all happen. They knew that between the distance and the language barrier, they’d have a tough time pulling the day together on their own. But they wanted to make sure they found someone experienced in Jewish weddings, which isn’t a given in Spain. So where did they look? Right here on Smashing The Glass! Day. Made. We ADORE hearing from couples who we’ve helped connect with awesome vendors.

Julia, who looked radiant in her gown by Spanish (so on point!) designer Calla Blanche, will fill you in on the rest…

How We Met

Julia, the bride: We met in Israel on a Birthright trip from our local Jewish organization, Ezra. We were supposed to go with two different groups on different dates. I ended up changing my date and group, and so did Brian – to the same date. It’s very hard not to believe in fate after this.

Brian is five years younger than me and I was not really ecstatic to begin a relationship with such a young guy (19). But, he was very mature for his age and I was open to give it a try. Six years later we are married. 🙂

Liberty Print and Lavender for an Outdoor Destination Jewish Wedding at Bregancon Castle in Bormes les Mimosas, Provence, France

22/08/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding Bregancon castle in Bormes les Mimosas France_0028
Today’s wedding is just so utterly chic. Having lived in France, I can confirm that most people there are this stylish and this good looking. (I know – it’s ridiculous). And then there’s the Provence sunlight. Seriously, THAT SUNLIGHT! I dare you not to start drooling over Ivan Franchet’s swoonworthy photos of the day.

Anne and Anthony, a Parisian couple who both work in finance in London, wisely decided to adopt an effortlessly chic, laid-back Provencal vibe for their wedding style. Between the local flowers (why yes, that DOES include plenty of lavender), lovely vintage furniture, and, our favorite, Liberty print galore.

Oh, and that wood chuppah with the sweetest florals? Anne built the structure the morning of the wedding, along with her father and brother. GAH!

And of course we can’t leave out that timeless French style — we’re sure you won’t be shocked to learn that Anne’s effortlessly elegant, summery dress was custom designed by the very Parisian Celestina Agostino. Now over to the beautiful bride…

How We Met

Anne, the bride: I met Anthony through one of my colleagues, who was his flatmate at the time.
