A Lee Petra Grebenau Bride for an Exuberant Jewish Wedding at Cavalli Estate, Cape Town, South Africa

13/09/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding at the Cavalli Estate Cape Town, South Africa_0075

If we had to pick one word to sum up Isa and Daniel’s Jewish wedding, it would be “exuberant!” From the bright colour palate to that gorgeous chuppah, to the abundant florals to the joyful expressions on the face of the bride and groom – not to mention the wild dancing and the spirited beachside couple’s shoot captured so beautifully in photographs by John Armstrong and on video Vision on Fire – South African couple Isa, a doctor, and Daniel, a solicitor, went all in on their big day.

We’re obsessed with their vibrant colour scheme – the couple wanted to use warm, bright shades to create an inviting atmosphere reflecting the spirit of love and celebration that embodied the day, with liberal use of the bride’s beloved bright pinks. Even Isa and Daniel’s gorgeous ketubah by Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor ByTessa incorporated the bright pink floral theme, and it could not be any lovelier.

And these two had a chuppah unlike any we’ve seen before – sure, there were stunning bright florals, but what really bowled us over is not the outside of this chuppah but the inside: Isa and Daniel decorated the underneath of the canopy with photos of their families through the generations, including those who couldn’t be physically present on the day – what a special way to literally envelope yourselves in the people who love you most!

There’s so much more to say about this wonderful wedding, but the time has come to turn you over to Isa, who looked nothing less than ravishing in her gown by beloved Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Lee Petra Grebenau, working with the designer herself at her studio in Israel – we’re totally not surprised to hear Isa say that getting to work with the wonderful Lee made the dress decision a non-brainer…

How we met

Isa and Daniel, the bride and the groom: In 2016, Isa was busy with her medical internship and Daniel was running around the court rooms with his law practice. A mutual friend sent Daniel Isa’s number. They had never crossed paths before their first date and it took Daniel an entire weekend to come up with “Hi Isa, a mutual friend sent me your number, would you like to go for a drink this week?” We eventually met on our first date and we ended up talking for hours and Isa had that smile. Daniel had to leave for Hong Kong but the talking continued.

One year later Daniel arranged for Isa to meet him in Cape Town and they went to Babylonstoren wine farm under the false pretence that Daniel was on a media panel talking about high profile legal cases. Instead, Daniel popped the question and Isa, although a little suspicious, responded with Daniel’s favourite words “of course yes”

A Sarah Seven Bride for a Rooftop Jewish Wedding at Fremont Foundry, Seattle, Washington, USA

02/09/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

There’s nothing like a rooftop chuppah. The great views, the chill outdoor vibes – they’re just the best. And we’re in love with the setup Rachel, a business integration project manager at Nordstrom, and Elliot, a commercial associate at Bank of America, came up with for their beautiful Seattle Jewish wedding.

Their venue, Fremont Foundry, has the most wonderful rooftop space, and the couple wisely opted for a simple wood chuppah adorned with plenty of greenery and accented by ivory roses – the perfect complement to the view. We can’t get enough of Katie Parra’s gorgeous photos capturing it all.

We also love that rather than going for a traditional guestbook, Rachel and Elliot had a selfie book! They provided a blank book, an InstaMax camera, colorful tape, and markers, and asked that their guests take a selfie, tape it in the book, and write a note to the couple. What a fun idea!

Now over to Rachel, who looked stunning in Sarah Seven…

A Vera Wang Bride for a Breathtaking Vintage-Inspired Jewish Wedding at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami, FL USA

26/08/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami, FL USA_0034

We’re totally obsessed with Lindsayand Corey’s incredible venue for their Jewish wedding. Vizcaya Museum & Gardens would be right at home in, say, Tuscany, or southern Spain – but it’s actually right in the middle of Miami!

We’d be hard-pressed to think of a venue more romantic than this one, and we love the way the bride let the vintage surroundings serve as a showcase for her old-new design sense, with touches like antique French lace, old floral dishes, candles, vintage furniture, and reclaimed farmhouse tables. And her uber-romantic vintage-style Vera Wang gown could not have fit the surroundings any more perfectly.

And we haven’t even gotten to the epic floral chuppah yet. Seriously, it’s a stunner, with wooden poles adorned with curly willow branches, blush white and ivory florals, moss accents and ethereal greenery – and the delicate ketubah in soft greens the couple chose from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubah.com complemented it perfectly.

Photographer Maloman Studios and videographer Eric Hires captured each and every detail of this gorgeous day so perfectly – do keep scrolling to see all the wonderful touches that made this wedding a true standout.

Lindsay, the bride: We met at the University of Arizona and were two dorm rooms down from one another freshman year. For Corey it was love at first sight!

A Pronovias Bride for a Wintery Chanukah Wedding at West London Synagogue and Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London, UK

23/08/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding West London Synagogue and Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London, UK_0066

We love a good Chanukah wedding – and there’s no time more special than the eighth and final night. We’re loving the way Emma, an account director at a medical education communications agency, and Mike, an accountant, made the most of the holiday in their beautiful Jewish wedding.

The pair had the bride’s two grandmothers light the menorah together during their chuppah – how special is that?! Speaking of that chuppah, we’re in love with the green and white floral creation, and we can’t go without mentioning the couple’s gorgeous green and purple ketubah from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubah.com. Also, fabulous chazan and Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Jonny Mosesson sang at the chuppah (and Emma and Mike found him through Smashing The Glass!). Oh, and they used one of our smash glass pouches.

The couple kept their general vibe wintery, with rich burgundy tones and sparkly fairy lights abounding. And to keep things in the Chanukah spirit from start to finish, they even served doughnuts in personalized paper bags for their guests to take home at the end of the night!

Emma looked stunning in her fitted mermaid lace Pronovias dress, which she found at Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ann Louise Bridal – whose delightful service she can’t stop raving about. We’ll let her fill you in on the rest.

A Family Venue

Emma, the bride: We got married at the West London Synagogue on Upper Berkeley Street. Not only is this a beautiful synagogue, but both Mike’s parents and grandparents got married here so this made it extremely special for us.

The reception and party followed at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel which has a beautiful art deco style ballroom which we loved from the first time we saw it. Dina the event planner there was an absolute dream to work with, no matter how many questions and requests we had!

An Emotional More Is More Jewish Wedding at Beth Israel Beth Aaron Synagogue, Montreal, Quebec, Canada

19/08/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding Beth Israel Beth Aaron Synagogue, Montreal, Quebec, Canada_0044
Talk about an emotional wedding. Lindsey, a third grade English and math teacher at a Jewish school, and Jonathan, a financial risk analyst, got engaged two weeks before the bride was scheduled to start chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in her twenties.

After a grueling year and a half of treatment, this couple’s big day was truly something to celebrate. So Lindsey and Jonathan channeled all their joy into their“more is more” wedding, with gold, sequins, and glitter for days, and a fab floral chuppah. Despite initially dreading dress shopping, Lindsey looked totally smashing in her perfect princess gown, and with a little help from some clip-on extensions she was able to rock princess hair to match, even while still growing hers back after chemo.

Photographer Marlon Kuhnreich’s pictures capture all the love and joy in the room so wonderfully – they’re truly unmissable. We’ll let the bride fill you in on the rest…

How we met

Lindsey, the bride: John and I met almost six years ago and ever since, we’ve continued to grow closer and fall more in love each and every day. He proposed while vacationing in South America, two weeks before I was scheduled to start chemotherapy.

We were on a cruise ship, sitting at dinner and he got up to go to the bathroom. Out of nowhere, the maitre handed me an envelope and inside it read: “I believe that it’s time, dinner is over. Please take your mother and head to Topsider.” I arrived at Topsider, the eleventh-floor poolside bar, where an amaretto sour awaited me with another envelope. At this time a man had been waiting to escort me to John. John stood in a room, wearing a suit and looked so handsome. He was holding a bouquet of roses and the room was decorated with rose petals and a long red carpet. It was a magical night as he promised to love me till the end of time and continue to protect me especially during these upcoming struggles.
