As Karen wraps up her whirlwind tour of NYC, we’ve got another New York-tastic Jewish wedding for you to celebrate her first trip out here on official Smashing The Glass business.
Today’s couple, Charlotte and Nate, went for classic Manhattan glam with a touch of Midsummer Night’s Dream fantasy. First off, can we talk about their chuppah?! In honor of the bride’s love for greenery, the couple’s florist basically created a mini enchanted forest right in the middle of their grand, old-school venue.
With hanging greenery, white blossoms, birch poles, and tons of sparkling lights, it’s truly something to behold. And keeping the magical vibes going strong for the guests, these two even had trees to match placed in the middle of the seating area! Even their gorgeous ketubah from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubah.com featured a tree! And the photography team from Fred Marcus Studio and videographers at Current Films captured everything so perfectly.
We’re also obsessed with Charlotte’s gorgeous, classic gown from Reem Acra – with a gorgeous beaded jacket on top for that little something extra. We’ll let this stylish bride take it from here…
A New York City Wedding
Charlotte, the bride: Gotham Hall is a classic new york city venue that I think stands out from all the rest. It is a super glamorous and grand venue but still achieves the charm and intimacy that I was looking for. I also loved working with the Gotham Hall team, they are all fantastic.
Party Vibes
Nate and I wanted the wedding to be one big party so we prioritized great music and lots of dancing. The rest was all an added bonus. Also, Nate and I made a pact before the big day to just have the best time and let go no matter what happened. I think this brought a warmth and love to the room which created the perfect energy between us and our family and friends. 🙂
A Reem Acra Dress
Finding the perfect dress was a big deal for me as both my mother and father are in the bridal industry and have careers manufacturing and designing bridal and bridesmaid dresses. I grew up watching my dad and his team of designers produce the most gorgeous wedding gowns and a mother whose bridesmaid dresses are unparalleled… so the pressure was on.
I wanted something classically beautiful with a twist so naturally, Reem Acra was exactly what I was looking for. The dress I chose had everything I was looking for but the twist so we decided to add a beaded jacket, which I cannot wait to wear again, to give my look a little something extra.
Chuppah
This was easy, I love greenery and a ton of lights. Tantawan Bloom took my direction to another level and I am still speechless by their work. True genius!
Ceremony
I loved being wrapped in Nate’s great grandfather’s tallis. That was a very special moment. I also loved how we did the 7 circles. I did 3, Nate did 3 and then we did one together to signify equality in our relationship.
I told the florist I wanted a unique ceremony so he put trees in the middle of the seating on both sides which was fun!
Speech
Overall my favorite part of the wedding was my husband’s speech, it was so romantic.
Videographer
Another highlight was how my videographer projected our video on the walls of Gotham during the party – it was SO cool and unexpected. I had no idea they were going to do that. Current Films is an epic duo – they are the cutest couple.
Lastly, our band did the coolest rendition of ‘Shout’ – a wedding classic. The leader stood on a chair in the middle of the dance floor and made the song about Nate and I and our guests went wild (see Nate’s Instagram for video… It was the perfect way to end the night.)
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
Don’t stress. Wedding planning is supposed to be fun. Remember, it is about the love you and your partner have. The rest really does not matter.
Brides, no matter what size you are, just love yourself and don’t be so caught up on your appearance on the day of. Just enjoy every second and be happy and you will be beautiful no matter what.
Take in every moment. Look around and create memories from each part of the night.
