A Reem Acra Bride for an Enchanted Forest Jewish Wedding at Gotham Hall, New York City, USA

15/11/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding Gotham Hall New York USA_0030

As Karen wraps up her whirlwind tour of NYC, we’ve got another New York-tastic Jewish wedding for you to celebrate her first trip out here on official Smashing The Glass business.

Today’s couple, Charlotte and Nate, went for classic Manhattan glam with a touch of Midsummer Night’s Dream fantasy. First off, can we talk about their chuppah?! In honor of the bride’s love for greenery, the couple’s florist basically created a mini enchanted forest right in the middle of their grand, old-school venue.

With hanging greenery, white blossoms, birch poles, and tons of sparkling lights, it’s truly something to behold. And keeping the magical vibes going strong for the guests, these two even had trees to match placed in the middle of the seating area! Even their gorgeous ketubah from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubah.com featured a tree! And the photography team from Fred Marcus Studio and videographers at Current Films captured everything so perfectly.

We’re also obsessed with Charlotte’s gorgeous, classic gown from Reem Acra – with a gorgeous beaded jacket on top for that little something extra. We’ll let this stylish bride take it from here…

A New York City Wedding

Charlotte, the bride: Gotham Hall is a classic new york city venue that I think stands out from all the rest. It is a super glamorous and grand venue but still achieves the charm and intimacy that I was looking for. I also loved working with the Gotham Hall team, they are all fantastic.

A BHLDN Bride for an Elegant Boho Jewish Wedding at District Winery, Washington, DC, USA

10/05/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

Today’s boho chic celebration shows you don’t need an unlimited budget to put together a memorable Jewish wedding.

Janice, a production manager for TV, and Samuel, an AV technician, planned a totally stunning DC bash at District Winery, filled with beautiful waterfront views and plentiful greenery, vines, and succulents – that coordinated perfectly with the couple’s whimsical ketubah from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubata (which also features a beautiful English text that speaks to the couple’s relationship story)

Janice purchased both her classic lace ceremony gown and simple open-backed party dress from BHLDN – a great option for stylish bridal attire on a budget. Photographer Adam Mason of Mason Photography did an incredible job capturing not only all the lovely details but, most importantly, all the energy and love of the big day.

These two also had an incredible heirloom chuppah cover, made out of fabric from the wedding dress worn by the bride’s mother and grandmother. There’s so much more to say, but we’ll leave the rest to Janice…

How we met

Janice, the bride: We met through mutual friends while we were in college and home for the summer. We lost touch for most of the next few years and ran into each other over Thanksgiving break when my husband was living at home after college and I was home visiting from New York. A couple months later he moved to New York and we’ve been together ever since.

A Vera Wang Bride for an Urban Chic NYC Foodie Jewish Wedding with a Tequila Bar at Weylin, Brooklyn, NYC, USA

25/04/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding Weylin NYC USA_0013
This has got to be the ultimate NYC foodie dream Jewish wedding! Rachel and Dan got married at Weylin, an iconic 19th-century former bank space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. As New Yorkers, it was important to the couple to wed in their home city — and to showcase some of its finest food offerings.

For starters, there was the cake: supercool bakery Momofuku’s rainbow layered birthday cake. Then, for the afterparty, a late-night snack from NYC pizza joint Lil Frankies. And guests even got a little taste of the city to take home with them at the end of the night, in the form of cookie favors from beloved bakery Levain, a neighborhood favorite for the Upper West Side couple. These are truly some of the most delicious cookies NYC has to offer — good going, guys!

But that’s not even the coolest thing about this wedding. What is? The tequila tasting room (!). Rachel and Dan are both tequila fans, and they figured their wedding was the perfect time to share their passion for the drink with their family and friends. They report that it was a massive hit, and I believe it! What a fun way to personalize your wedding, if you and your beloved happen to be connoisseurs of a particular drink — it’s like signature cocktails on steroids!

Photographer Maya Myers took the most elegant shots of the couple’s chic day, and Rachel looked classically elegant in sublime Vera Wang. Take it away Rachel!

Rachel, the bride: Dan and I met through jSwipe.

Maggie & Jeff | New York City-infused ‘Urban Elegance’ Jew-ish wedding at the Dumbo Loft, Brooklyn, New York City, USA

14/08/2015 by Karen

New-York-City-Wedding
Maggie and Jeff seem like one cool couple so it goes without saying that their wedding is a super chic affair with an urban Brooklyn edge. It’s full to bursting with stunning details — just check out the gold-foiled wedding hashtag on the napkins for starters — and I LOVE the minimal yet industrial styling . It’s understated yet oh so elegant.

But as stylish as it is, tradition and family are at the heart of this affair… Jeff’s  parents, grandparents and great-grandparents were all married in Brooklyn so having their wedding at The Dumbo Loft was the perfect way to keep the tradition alive. Not only that, but Jeff’s family kiddush cup that’s been used for all their family events since the 1800’s, was used for the blessings in their wedding ceremony too.

I don’t think I’ve seen and featured such awesome pre-ceremony images either… what an epic way to spend the morning with your bridal party! (scroll down to the bottom of the post to see what I’m talking about).

More super cool NYC-flavour (literally) touches include the ultimate Brooklyn BBQ buffet, and an incredible wedding cake from Momofuku — an NYC establishment which also happens to be one of Jeff’s favourite sweet treat places.

The gorgeous set of images, as crisp and cool as the big day itself, are by Britty D. Photography.

New York City Wedding
how we met

Maggie, the Bride: We first met in our junior year in college during a business class. The class was called Emerging Economies and we took a week trip to South Korea. On the trip, we became good friends, kept in touch over the summer and shortly, after returning to school in August, we began dating…the rest is history!

Jessie & Craig | Spectacular book-themed Jewish wedding at the New York Public Library, New York, USA

02/04/2015 by Karen

New-York-City-wedding
I’m not sure you can get much cooler than Jessie and Craig’s New York City nuptials. Their Jewish wedding has it all. The glamour, the style, the chic, and the unique. I almost died when I first clapped eyes on their chuppah design — I’m telling you, it’s one of the best I’ve ever seen, and you’ll have to excuse me for including so many pictures of it.

Prepare to be green eyed folks as I cannot possibly deny that this W-Day may cause some serious wedding envy, namely because of the exquisite fashion that bride Jessie sported on the day itself. Firstly there are her Christian Louboutin clear heels with silver studs, swiftly followed by her divine Reem Acra dress. Honestly Jessie has the most wonderful sartorial taste.

And what with getting married in the iconic New York Public Library, I haven’t even begun to tell you about how well-executed their literary bookish theme is. I’m talking real-life librarians helping guests find their seats, library card catalogue escort cards, and a chuppah made entirely out of antique books! But wait, it gets better. Their chuppah was topped with hundreds of lightbulbs, so when it came to smashing the glass at the end of the ceremony, the groom picked out a light bulb from their chuppah to smash, and swiftly stamped on it. Have you ever?

So if you want to take a page from Jessie and Craig’s wedding (see what I did there?!), now’s the time, as I’m handing over to the beautiful bride for the story behind her big day. All of the fantastic photography is by the wonderfully talented Dave Robbins, and design is by AaB Creates.
