Real Jewish Brides: Alexandra Talks About Couples Counseling For A Successful Marriage

18/12/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Alexandra will be marrying Ian on 10th May 2020 at La Corte Dei Messapi in Ostuni, Puglia, Italy. Click here to read all Alexandra’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: THREE FACTS: (1) Alexandra and Ian are planning an intimate black-tie destination wedding for 60 of their nearest and dearest in Puglia, Italy. (2) Alexandra is Jewish, and Ian is in the process of converting to Judaism. (3) Alexandra is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

Couples counseling before the wedding

Early on in Ian’s and my engagement, an older friend gave me advice for a successful marriage: go to couples counseling before the wedding. At first, it seemed a bit extreme, but he does have a great marriage and two bomb kids so I listened on.

He said that wedding planning brings up a lot of things you didn’t even think of before you were married, even if you are cohabitating.

We did not immediately jump on this advice because life got in the way. When we finally decided that it was time, we struggled to find a couple’s counselor that we could afford that also reflected our values.

Real Jewish Brides: Naomi’s Bringing her English-Venezuelan Crew Together

11/12/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

Naomi will be marrying Daniel on 18th March 2020 at Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus in Aventura, Florida, USA. Click here to read all Naomi’s planning posts to date.

THREE FACTS: (1) British bride Naomi has just moved to Florida to join her Venezuelan fiance Daniel, who she met at a wedding in Israel – talk about an international couple! (2) Naomi and Daniel were long distance for 3.5 years, until this July. (3) Naomi is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

Hello all and welcome to wedding update number three!

I cannot believe how fast the time is going, or that we are less than 4 months away from the big day!

Things are getting really exciting – all of our main vendors are booked, the MENU TASTING IS COMPLETE (anyone who knows me will know just how excited I was for that particular job) and almost every other day I’m getting messages from people telling me their flights are booked, which fills my heart with the hugest amount of joy.

The number of close friends who have pulled through and decided they are going to travel across the world to come and celebrate with us in Miami is just such a blessing, which I didn’t really allow myself to expect and which I am incredibly grateful for.

2020 Real Jewish Brides: Introducing Jocelyn + Stuart: How They Met To The Present Day…

04/12/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Today on the blog we’re introducing our 8th gorgeous bride from our crop of 2020 Real Jewish Brides! Please give a warm welcome to Jocelyn, who will be marrying Stuart on 20th February 2021 at Barbican Conservatory, in London, UK.

THREE FACTS: (1) Jocelyn met her fiance Stuart at university – they came together over a shared love of the band Busted, and it’s their dream to have Busted play at their wedding! (2) Jocelyn is Jewish; Stuart is not – and midway through planning the two abandoned their plan for a civil ceremony and are now working out how to pull off the interfaith Jewish celebration of their dreams. (3) Jocelyn is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

How you met

On 19th September 2010 my parents were driving me from my family home in rural Essex across the Dartford Bridge to the next stage of my life: halls of residence in Twickenham. It was my first day of university and I distinctly remember being in the car and receiving a text from my friend Joe that facetiously said, “You might meet your future husband today!” Joe was wrong. I met my future husband the following day.

Stuart and I became friends early on, but the first memory I have of us properly bonding was when, a couple of months in, we realised that we both loved Busted and Westlife. We would sit up all night listening to Foo Fighters and Green Day and My Chemical Romance (and Busted and Westlife, no shame) and sing the harmonies together (not necessarily well, I might add) and get excited about the fact that we both knew all the parts.

2020 Real Jewish Brides: Introducing Erin + Josh: How They Met To The Present Day…

27/11/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Today on the blog we’re introducing our 7th gorgeous bride from our crop of 2020 Real Jewish Brides! Please give a warm welcome to Erin, who will be marrying Josh on 1st November 2020 at Congregation Beth Israel, in Charlottesville, VA, USA.

THREE FACTS: (1) Erin and Josh are planning an outdoorsy fall wedding on a budget in Virginia’s Shenandoah mountains. (2) Erin recently completed her conversion to Judaism, and she and Josh are looking forward to filling their big day with Jewish traditions while keeping it enjoyable and understandable to friends and family from all backgrounds. (3) Erin is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

How you met

Like any true millennials, Josh and I met on a dating app. Because we connected over the holidays, we talked for a few months while I was visiting family in Florida and when Josh was on Birthright in Israel.

We were able to ever go on our first date on January 16, 2018 — best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. We clicked almost instantly, and have been inseparable since.

We are both huge nerds about the things we love (Josh is a brilliant musician and photographer, I love language, crafts, and Harry Potter) and we are both big on communication.

2020 Real Jewish Brides: Introducing Orli + Ben: How They Met To The Present Day…

20/11/2019 by Smashing The Glass

Today on the blog we’re introducing our 6th gorgeous bride from our crop of 2020 Real Jewish Brides! Please give a warm welcome to Orli, who will be marrying Ben on 6th September 2020 at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, London, UK.

THREE FACTS: (1) Orli and Ben met on Jswipe. (2) Although their venue, the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, couldn’t be more quintessentially London, Orli and Ben are going for a countryside feel. (3) Orli is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!

How you met

We met on Jswipe, which seems to be a common way to meet these days. We have recently found our first Jswipe messages where I couldn’t help but laugh at his first chat up line which was ‘Birmingham University sounds fun’ to which I replied ‘I graduated three years ago!’.

After speaking for 6 weeks we met up and were pretty much inseparable from the second date where he asked me to meet his brothers and parents.
