Today on the blog we’re introducing our 6th gorgeous bride from our crop of 2020 Real Jewish Brides! Please give a warm welcome to Orli, who will be marrying Ben on 6th September 2020 at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, London, UK.
THREE FACTS: (1) Orli and Ben met on Jswipe. (2) Although their venue, the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, couldn’t be more quintessentially London, Orli and Ben are going for a countryside feel. (3) Orli is a member of Smashing The Glass’s Brides Club!
How you met
We met on Jswipe, which seems to be a common way to meet these days. We have recently found our first Jswipe messages where I couldn’t help but laugh at his first chat up line which was ‘Birmingham University sounds fun’ to which I replied ‘I graduated three years ago!’.
After speaking for 6 weeks we met up and were pretty much inseparable from the second date where he asked me to meet his brothers and parents.
Our dating story
For our first date, he took me to a private members club in the West End for a drink. Fast forward to the end of the night by the time he had made me dinner he’d also offered to take me out the following Saturday night. I was delighted and couldn’t wait for our second date until…. he mentioned it was his brothers 21st birthday and I would be meeting his whole family!
I was so nervous I bought myself a whole new outfit, had my hair done and was all ready and dolled up to meet everyone. By our fifth date, I had met most of his family and at another party, little to my knowledge he had started introducing me to everyone as his girlfriend. But by this point I already knew he was the one for me.
Our engagement
Ben surprised me with a trip to Paris and Bordeaux for my birthday. On the first day in Paris, he had organised an Israeli tour guide to take us around the Jewish quarter in Paris which was truly special. He proposed to me that evening.
The next morning we went out and bought a ring ‘for now’ from my favourite jewellery brand and a ring that I had my eye on for a year. From Paris we headed to Bordeaux for some more celebrations staying in a beautiful chateaux and drinking wine for the rest of the weekend discussing ring designs and wedding plans!
From the moment we got back to London he had booked appointments at ring shops to start looking and designing my ring!
On our two year anniversary, Ben decorated the whole flat with candles, photos and flowers where he got down on one knee and proposed to me with the ring we had designed together.
Wedding planning
From the moment we got engaged I knew the date we had to get married providing it was a Sunday, which luckily it is… 6 September 2020. This is the date that my two cousins got married and their children are our flower girls and page boys. To me, this date meant everything.
We have booked almost all of our vendors apart from our florist for the moment. The wedding vision that I have is a countryside and intimate feel in a beautiful London hotel.
This was always going to be a challenge with 200 people but it’s something that I’m thoroughly enjoying. From the moment I walked into St Pancras Renaissance I knew it was the place where I wanted to get married. I fell in love with the stair case, the room and the outside area. So now, it’s just planning to make my vision become a reality.
What marriage means to us
The best part of wedding planning is knowing that I get to marry the love of my life, and that we are starting to create our exciting future together.
To us the most important thing at our wedding is for all of our favourite people being there to celebrate with us. From the moment we got engaged I knew that I want to include everyone’s ideas and thoughts, which is proving to be slightly difficult but after all family is everything to us.
Catch you on my next post.
