Blogging can be a lonely sport and however cosy working from home sounds, it’s not always my personal idyll. I find it essential to be inspired by London and all who live in her, and I love the balance of working from home with working in coffee shops (my two local favourites for ambience, coffee, nosh and friendliness are House Kitchen and Ginger & White). I also love working from my husband’s central London office too. Hey with a surname like Cinnamon, you can see that variety really is my (work)spice of life!
I’ve always wondered where my fellow bloggers work to see where all the wedding blogging magic happens, so I asked some of my wedding blogging buddies to give me (and that means you too of course) a sneak peak into their workspaces.
In case you’re wondering, that’s my home workspace in the picture at the top of the page. You can read more about it (and see more images from my home) right here.
I’d like to add that this piece isn’t about pinterest-worthy workspaces, it’s about the realities of blogging and being aware that blogging magic happens in many different cosy, neat, noisy, messy, playful, minimalistic, and colourful environments.
Kat Williams’ (Rock N Roll Bride) workspace in Reading, UK
Kat Williams | www.rocknrollbride.com | describes her workspace:
I work in the spare bedroom of our two up/ two down house in Reading. I actually love working at home and although the business is growing, we don’t have any plans to move to fancy offices or anything like that! I love that I can literally roll out of bed and start working, I hate the idea of “wasting” the day commuting! We could do with more storage now we do all the online and subscription orders of the magazine from home (argh!) but in terms of where I do my day to day work, I’m pretty happy.
When you live WITH A BOY you obviously have to consider their feelings when it comes to decorating the space you co-habit (boo!) so although I have managed to wangle pink wallpaper in our kitchen and a few fun decor items downstairs, my office is where I’ve really gone to down on the COLOUR and fun. It’s a bit like a kid’s idea of what good decor is haha! It’s definitely not sophisticated but it makes me happy – after all I am staring at it for 8-10 hours a day. My favourite items are my rainbow candles, my Himalayan salt lamp and my vision board which sits right above my computer screen. I also have lots of plants on my desk and windowsill and some of my favourite knick-knacks that I’ve picked up on my travels.
The only thing I really don’t like about my workspace is my desk. Its too big and too dark. I’d really like to get a white one that would brighten the whole space up a bit I think. I just need to convince Gareth on that one. “Why would you buy a new desk when this one is perfectly functional?” is always his response. Oh boys!”.
Bree Ryback’s (Capitol Romance) workspace in Washington DC, USA
Bree Ryback | www.capitolromance.com | describes her workspace:
When my husband and I moved from our smaller, 1 bedroom condo, into a row house in North East Washington DC, I was so excited to finally have an entire room dedicated to my business. A REAL home office that we could design and decorate exactly to my style and liking.
It took a few years to perfect it, but we started with the bright colors (teal!) and a tanker desk (a craigslist find!) that played off the graffiti wall hanging that I had a local graffiti artist paint for me for a wedding show I attended a while back. From there, things fell into place with custom wood and pipe shelves that my husband made, and paraphernalia from past/previous weddings I have attended, my own wedding, and prints from styled shoots I participated in for added decoration.
The icing on the cake was when my husband re-did the upstairs flooring in the office. Once drab carpet, now shiny, black painted wood plank floors. The office is 100% me and I love using old and new “things” from weddings as my decorations. It’s a nice reminder of where I’ve been and where I am going in my wedding business”.
Phoebe Miller’s (So You’re Getting Married) workspace in Leeds, UK
Phoebe Miller | www.soyouregettingmarried.com | describes her workspace:
This is my little slice of blogging workspace. When I moved up to Yorkshire one of my main stipulations was that I had a view, and that view was of trees or woodland. The dappled light through the autumnal leaves is gorgeous, and very calming. I am naturally a clutter free person and I wanted to sit somewhere that didn’t have too many distractions, I often gaze out of the window but I still consider that working. The single pane windows are very old and it gets exceptionally cold here in the winter but I have a fire and a throw for desperate times. The only things I have next to me are a notebook, my phone and then three skincare essentials (and the dog by me feet if that counts). There is nothing more inspiring than mother nature. Drag your desk to your nearest window and get typing”.
Rhiannon Downie Hurst’s (Bride Club ME) workspace in Dubai, UAE
Rhiannon Downie Hurst | www.BrideClubME.com | describes her workspace:
The nature of what I do means I can work mobile, and from any location with wifi. I usually work from home 2 or 3 days a week, often whilst sitting in my ‘comfy’ attire at the dining table, with three cats prowling around me as I type or answer calls. I currently have an on-going home office make-over project, and hope to have this complete by the new year.
When I am not working from home, I often set up my work station at the Pavilion, Downtown Dubai (pictured above). A chic cafà© and the perfect haven for us online entrepreneurs to work with wide open work spaces. Their open face salmon sandwiches are the best too!
I love being able to work where I please, but it does have its logistical issues at times and I can’t wait to have my home office complete soon. It’ll be equipped with a printer, a two seater desk, a mini-studio styling corner and a zen style balcony to have some ‘time-out’ from the computer screen. That said, when working pretty much alone, you do crave the company of other people, so popping out to the Pavilion helps me catch that interactive office buzz I often miss.”
Louise Beukes’ (B.LOVED) workspace in London, UK
Louise Beukes | www.blovedblog.com | describes her workspace:
I work from home in a beautiful light-filled office overlooking the garden of my powder blue townhouse (a wedding bloggers dream!) My desk runs the length of one wall — giving me plenty of work space and the perfect spot for styling my latest Instagram pics! Above my desk a shelf is filled with quotes and cards from clients providing a little inspiration as I work, and I’ve created a gallery of images from my own styled shoots to add to the pretty. I always have fresh flowers on my desk, roses, ranunculus or peonies depending on the season.
In the evenings and colder months I love to work from the living room, curled up on the sofa with a huge mug of coffee and browsing my favourite magazines and blogs for inspiration.”

Jennifer Prince’s (Hill City Bride) workspace in Lynchburg, Virginia
Jennifer Prince | www.hillcitybride.com | describes her workspace:
Part of the fun of being an entrepreneur and blogger is the flexibility in workspace. I can blog from bed at home surrounded by my kitty cats or while on the deck during vacation. Although, I greatly enjoy working from home, the part that I both love and hate about it is the fact that I can get household things done – put in a load of laundry, unload the dishwasher, feed the cats. It’s great to be able to do those things, yet I also find that I will go about my day in an illogical fashion. That’s why a co-working space is just right for me!
We live 45 minutes away from the city that I do most of my work in, so having a home base to get things done in between meetings has been such a blessing. What do I love about my coworking space? It’s called TOOLRY and it’s light and airy, and it practically feels like home. Equipped with a full kitchen along with mini storage (think lockers and cubbies) and a variety of working areas – small tables, bar stool area, long farm table and even a comfy couch – it offers an eclectic, urban vibe. I also adore the people there. We have fun and chat, but we also respect each other’s work time and space. It’s a community who really values each other and our niches. Add in some soft Indie style music and a cup of locally roasted (complimentary!) coffee, and I’m ready to work the day away.”
Emily Pettiford’s (Bespoke Bride) workspace in Bristol, UK
Emily Pettiford | www.bespokebride.com | describes her workspace:
Organised chaos is pretty much how I would explain my work space! It might be a little messy but that’s why I like it — it is 100% all me! My desk is always clear but what you don’t see in this picture is all the piles of craft supplies, boxes, products, letters and files surrounding my feet. My motto is out of sight, out of mind! I am also a huge stationery lover and I have pens, pencils, notepads everywhere, in fact I have a whole huge box dedicated to notepads!
Although my office is a tiny box room, I really love how cosy it is, so to be honest there probably isn’t much that I would change. Actually scrap that I could probably do with a bit more space, so then I could buy more notepads (obviously!).”
Helen Howells’ (The Wedding Bazaar) workspace in Wales, UK
Helen Howells | www.the-wedding-bazaar.com | describes her workspace:
I’m going to get it out in the open here… yes I have my very own home office BUT it’s in my parents house. Mr H and I have been meaning to buy a house for a “little while” having been together for nearly 10 years but between me launching my own business… Mr H being a total workaholic and of course both of us being a bit uhum “particular” we are still yet to make that all important purchase.
In an effort to make my office feel like “mine” I have painted it a subtle shade of grey {Cornforth White by Farrow and Ball to be precise} and displayed a few of my favourite things… like our wedding pics and a mismatch of treasures I have “rescued” from our local flea market and the likes of H&M Home.
But is it perfect… hell no!!
There are drill holes in the wall which I haven’t got around to filling {or ever will get around to filling before we move out I suspect}. There are sloping ceilings which cast shadows EVERYWHERE {not so great when trying to get those all important instagram pics} and I made the rookie mistake of choosing a glass top desk {freezing cold forearms and hands in the winter anyone??}.
However… I am lucky in the sense that this is my very own space to do with as I please. And I also see it as a “dry run” of sorts so when we do buy our house I will have learnt from my mistakes and have the office of my dreams {hopefully}!“
Mary Thompson’s (Mid South Bride) workspace in Memphis, Tennessee, USA
Mary Thompson | www.midsouthbride.com | describes her workspace:
I work from Starbucks! It is currently the closest coffee shop to my house. I previously worked at a coworking space and have a lot of trouble trying to work from home. Being around people energises me and makes me more productive so I’d rather hang out at a coffee shop for a couple hours while working on Mid-South Bride.”
What a great peek into the stationary and mobile offices of so many. Love it!!
I know! I love a good nosy! Wonderful to see where we are all blogging from and thank you so much for being part of the post, Jennifer 🙂
Great article… lovely to see others spaces where the magic is created! X
Isn’t it just Alex? Now I’d like to have a peek at yours if I may?!
Lol, a bit chaotic at the mo as I’m moving rooms but when it’s done I’ll send you a pic xx
Love this post! So interesting to see everyone’s take on a workspace.
I would love to see yours too Sara! I bet it’s glam with a beautiful view… I just have a feeling!
Love this!! I love getting a peek at other bloggers’ spaces!
I personally have a home office that I’ve spent the last two years trying to make as functional as possible in a small space. I’ve got space to craft and space to blog! Best of both worlds 🙂
Gosh – everyone has such a tidy workspace – a fascinating series of photos!
Glad you liked it Nathalie! I’m going to do a ‘Part 2: Where Wedding Vendors Work’ so if you’d like to contribute, just say!
I so loved getting nosey in this post. Phoebe’s peaceful spot looks so blissful. Phoebe – I’m coming round!
Thanks for this great post
