There’s something so elegant about a wedding that lets the setting do a lot of the talking, and Rebecca and Phil’s beautiful Jewish wedding at The Lannin in East Meadow, New York, is a perfect example.

Phil, a consultant, and Rebecca, who recently graduated from nursing school, chose The Lannin because they fell in love with its grounds and immediately pictured themselves getting married beneath an outdoor chuppah.

Their vision was modern, organic, and romantic, with a palette of whites, creams, and plenty of greenery designed to complement the natural beauty of the venue. The look carried through every part of the day, from the chuppah and badeken to the reception tables.

Behind the camera was Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Alex Knight Studio, who had already photographed Rebecca’s sister’s wedding the year before. Rebecca and Phil knew straight away they wanted the same team for their own day, and loved the creativity, professionalism, and energy they brought with them.

The result is a gorgeous, light-filled Jewish wedding with a timeless feel. We’ll leave it to Rebecca to tell you all about it…

How We Met

Rebecca, the bride: Phil and I met at Binghamton University on the Fourth of July.

Venue

We got married at The Lannin in East Meadow. We chose this venue because they have beautiful land and we had a vision for an outdoor chuppah.

Theme

We did not have a wedding planner, we did it all ourselves, with the help from family and friends. Although there was no theme, we wanted a modern organic look with white/ cream and green florals.

Dress

My dress was made by Anna Augusta. She is an incredibly talented designer in Brooklyn. Anna is the definition of a professional and I couldn’t recommend her more. She created exactly what I wanted, even when I would change my mind after each appointment. She created a lace piece for me to wear for the chuppah, which was easily snapped off after for dancing.

Bridesmaids

My bridesmaids wore butter yellow. It’s been my favorite color since I was a child. I felt as though the color complimented the florals, the venue and the overly vibes of our day.

Ceremony & Chuppah

Our florist, Gold Flowers Monsey, took one look at our inspiration photos and created a chuppah more beautiful than we could’ve imagined.

There happen to be a live concert happening near our venue that took place at the same time as our chuppah. So we simultaneously were listening to our Rabbi’s speech and rap music as we were getting married. Although it wasn’t ideal timing, it’s a funny memory to look back on now.

Our music choice

Our singer was Avi Perets, and part of his crew DJ Tommy.  We had both English and Israeli music- our DJ played according to what the guests were vibing with and enjoying. We did our first dance to Can’t Take my Eyes off of You. It’s one of the first songs we ever danced to together. Coincidentally, this is the song that was playing when we visited The Lannin together for the first time, which made everything feel right.

Flowers

Our florist was Gold Flowers Monsey. The vibe we were going for was modern organic, so we had whites, creams and lots of greenery. We wanted the chuppah to compliment the beautiful nature of the Lannin’s grounds. My bouquet was white peonies and the bridesmaids held calla lillies. Everything else complimented the place, such as the badeken and our table centerpieces, which followed the same color scheme.

Photographer and videographer

Alex Knight Studio was our wonderful photographer. It was a no brainer that we were going to use this incredible team after they photographed Rebecca’s sister’s wedding a year prior. Alex’s team is creative, professional and brought the energy! They made sure to capture every inspiration photo we shared. We couldn’t recommend a team more!

Food and cake

Main Event Mauzon did our catering. Alan Schulman felt like more than a caterer. He went over the entirety of the wedding planning with us to make sure we did not miss a single thing. And on top of that, we still get comments about how delicious the food was!

Extra Details

It rained on our wedding day, which is every couple’s nightmare, especially because we were doing an outdoor chuppah. We feel so lucky that the rain only lasted 10 minutes and somehow didn’t harm any of our florals. As they say, a wet knot is harder to untie.

Honeymoon

We are going to Hawaii next week! Tori from The World Tor helped us plan this trip. We are very much looking forward to spending this time together while exploring a new place.

Advice to couples currently planning their wedding

One thing we did at our wedding that we recommend to anyone who is having a big wedding is to go around to each table during dinner. It gave us time to really spend a few moments with our guests, especially those who weren’t able to be on the dance floor.
