We’re obsessed with the epic summer vibes of the Jewish wedding of Shira and Ofek, both students. Opting to make the most of the season, these two chose a stunning outdoor venue, opted for fun touches like a flower booth and a smoothie bar!), and a simple white chuppah studded with color-coordinated blooms. Photographer Lior Moshe did SUCH an incredible job capturing all the love and joy between Shira and Ofek on their big day.
We’re also incredibly touched by all the ways the couple included Ofek’s late brother, who tragically passed away from cancer, into their day. First, at the chuppah they gave each guest a white balloon in his memory, which the guests all released into the sky at once. The pair also used a kiddush cup inscribed with Ofek’s brother’s name, which Ofek’s mother had made so that he could be a part of all the family simchas. And Shira and Ofek also made a donation to a cancer charity in honor of each of their guests – all such beautiful ways to remember a loved one.
Now over to the bride, who looked so boho chic in her summery gown from Sveta Swan Bridal…
How we met
Shira, the bride: We met at school at the age of 16, and have been together ever since.
Venue with a View
We got married at the Kedma Garden in Neve Ilan near Jerusalem. We chose that hall for its beautiful view.
Smoothies and Balloons
We planned our wedding on our own. The theme was “summer”, and “flowers”. We had a flower booth and a smoothie bar; we also gave out fans and hats. At the chuppah all the guests got white balloons, and they all flew it to the sky at once.
Ofek’s brother died of cancer during his army duty, so we gave out each guest a letter that we donated to Zichron Menachem Organization in behalf of his or her name.
Invitations
Ofek’s sister designed our invitation, and the theme was an airplane, since Ofek’s hobby is RC airplanes.
Hair + Make-up
My cousin did my makeup and hairdo. I wanted something natural.
A Sveta Swan Bridal Dress
The designer, Sveta Swan Bridal, was a beginner, and I wanted to give a chance to someone new in the field. I like beads and lace, so I had that on my dress too.
Accessories
The hair accessory I had was a handmade shell. The jewelry I wore was a gift from my mother in law before the wedding.
The handsome groom
Ofek wore a blue suit, and a maroon bowtie, a Giorgio Armani watch. He doesn’t need much to look handsome.
Bridesmaids
Ofek had a friend who was also our driver, and I had two bridesmaids, who each wore a different coloured dress.
Ceremony
The kiddush glass had Ofek brother’s name on it, in order to remember him in our simcha, and the names of all the couples in the family. His mother got that cup made after his passing so he can always be a part in our simchas.
I wanted my chuppah simple with white flowers to give it a pure look.
Our Music Choice
We walked down the aisle to Idan Reichal’s ‘Hinech Yaffa’ and Ofek broke the glass to the song of ‘I’m a believer’ (Shrek). At the first few minutes of dancing, we had Chaddish music, and later other songs…
Flowers
My bouquet was very colorful and summery. The flowers at the chuppah were light. On the table, we had bright colored roses.
Photographer
We saw Lior Moshe‘s ad on a website, and really liked his work. We spoke to him, and felt he was exactly what we were looking for. We took pictures a month before the wedding with airplanes, and we were very satisfied. He was amazing!!! We highly recommend him.
Food and Cake
It was on a Friday, so we also had challah and fish, aside from the hall’s catering.
Honeymoon
We went to India a few months later for 1.5 months.
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
