A Mori Lee Bride for a City Chic Jewish Wedding at St. Pancras Renaissance, London, UK

09/07/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding St Pancras Renaissance London UK_0048
Okay, how much do we love Natasha and Tal’s wisteria chuppah?! SO romantic, and yet somehow also understated, since the couple kept everything else about the structure super simple. What a great reminder that you don’t necessarily have to go all out and do something super dramatic and involved to have a beautiful, memorable chuppah at your Jewish wedding.

There’s so much more that was beautiful and memorable about this day, too — you’ve got to check out Smashing the Glass Recommended Vendor David Pullum’s photos of all the action. But if you just see one, make sure it’s the pic where Natasha’s being tossed six feet in the air (!) on a tablecloth – scroll a bit, and you won’t miss it. It’s pretty dramatic, and we’re not even a little surprised that guests are still talking about it.

From that photo alone, you can probably guess that Natasha and Tal had a pretty rockin’ party. That was partly thanks to Smashing the Glass Recommended Vendor The Function Band, who the couple describe as “truly show-stopping.” They made sure the dance floor was packed all night, and guests are still remarking on their fantastic performance.

Now we’ll turn you over to Natasha, who looked stunning in her Mori Lee dress…

A London Venue

Natasha, the bride: We got married at St Pancras Renaissance. We were struggling to find a venue that we agreed on. We walked up to the front of the venue and were instantly wowed. We walked around imaging the photographs and knew it was going to be the one.

A Stephanie Allin Bride for an Ultra-Personal Country House Jewish Wedding at Parklands Quendon Hall, Essex, UK

21/05/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding Parklands Quendon Hall UK_0049
We absolutely LOVE today’s bride, Tash, who is an avid Smashing The Glass reader, and looked so elegant in her Stephanie Allin gown (with “the best twirling skirt ever!”).

She made some amazing vendor choices (choosing three STG Recommended Vendors all found on the pages of Smashing The Glass) and she had so many beautiful creative ideas. We particularly love the couple’s extra-meaningful chuppah design inspired by a previous wedding on Smashing The Glass, where the guests helped decorate the canopy with flowers (so gorge).

Their fab florist, the amazing Emma from STG Recommended Vendor Urban Flower Farmer, designed a simple birch pole chuppah laden with greenery and arranged flowers in buckets by the entrance to the ceremony, with a sign asking the guests to add them to the chuppah.

And that’s just one of the beautiful ways Tash and Ian personalized their ceremony while embracing Jewish tradition — you’ve got to read about their ultra-meaningful badeken. Photographer Andy Tyler and videographer Rideout Films did a wonderful job capturing all the emotion of the day.

The pair had a large wedding (230 guests!) with LOTS of children, and to make things easier for the parents in the crowd they hired another fabulous STG Recommended Vendor Safe and Sound Childcare to provide a creche, which kept all the little ones entertained and allowed the adults to enjoy the party.

Tash and Ian knew they wanted a band that could handle some serious Israeli dancing. Turning to Smashing The Glass for ideas, they found STG Recommended Vendor XS Showband. The couple report that the band created a fab atmosphere and kept their guests dancing all evening — and, most important of all, they ably handled not one but two rounds of Israeli dancing! Speaking of which, be sure to check out Tash’s top tips for Israeli dancing in her writeup…

How we met

Tash, the bride: We met online – if you’d told me 5 years ago that I’d end up marrying someone I met online I would have thought you were mad, but here we are!

We met through Mysinglefriend, which is the site where your friends write your profile, which means you get slightly more interesting descriptions than the classic “I like eating out with friends and country walks.”

But it turns out it doesn’t actually mean you get more truthful profiles, as Ian’s friends Jo and Stu wrote lots of things that I’ve subsequently discovered were complete lies – like the suggestion that Ian is not a football obsessive!

A Riki Dalal Bride for a Jewish Wedding Featuring a Musical Flash Mob at Stockbrook Manor Country Club, Billericay, Essex, UK

16/05/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

With the Royal wedding just days away, we’ve got our very own ‘Smashing Royalty’ getting married on the blog today. Yes — it’s the real Jewish wedding of a very dear colleague, wonderful Francesca, who manages (and is a big part of) much-loved STG Vendor XS Showband, to Ziek, a chef with kosher-style caterer Shuka Catering.

Being in the industry, the pair had a major leg up when it came to choosing suppliers for their gorgeous Jewish wedding at Stockbrook Manor Country Club. Francesca and Ziek chose Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendors Blake Ezra and Denee Motion for photography and videography, respectively. Having worked with both, the couple knew they were choosing suppliers who not only produce amazing work but are incredibly passionate about what they do.

And entertainment was a no-brainer: the bride’s own XS Showband — which she both owns and sings in — was obviously going to be part of her wedding. With an epic 18-piece setup playing non-stop from start to finish, music was absolutely integral to the day.

It just happens that XS Showband has pioneered using musical flash mobs in wedding ceremonies, so it was only natural that Francesca included one in hers. You’ve got to check out Denee Motion‘s video of the flash mob in action; it’s unlike anything we’ve seen in any other wedding!

Beautiful Francesca, who looked positively radiant in her elegant lace Riki Dalal gown, will fill you in on the rest…

A Pronovias Bride for an Elegant Outdoor Destination Jewish Wedding at Villa Grabau, Lucca, Tuscany, Italy

18/04/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Destination Jewish wedding Villa Grabau in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy_0004
Gorgeous couple, gorgeous venue, gorgeous lemon grove… today’s Jewish wedding brings ALL the pretty. London-based Federica and Justin wanted a Tuscan destination wedding (and after looking at their stunning photos, you just might, too!). With the help of their wedding planner, Silvia from Smashing the Glass Recommended Vendor Infinity Weddings, they opted for an outdoor ceremony in the lush gardens of Villa Grabau.

The thing that sold them on their venue? The chance to have their ceremony amidst a grove of lemon trees. Lemon trees! It doesn’t get much more idyllically Tuscan than that, does it?!

And the favors? Lemon soaps from none other than Lush, thanks to a connection at Lush HQ. Even better, the couple opted to tag them with guests’ names and table numbers, making them do double duty as a table plan. This is one favor I personally would’ve been very happy to receive – if you guys have any leftovers, you know where to send them!

Photographers Rhapsody Road delivered the natural, relaxed photos the couple hoped for — and then some. From the emotion to the details to the rolling Tuscan hills in the background, it’s all there.

Beautiful Federica claims to have hated dress shopping, but you’d never know it from how effortlessly elegant she looks in her modern, chic Pronovias gown. She’ll fill you in on the rest of her fab day…

A Destination Wedding in Tuscany

Federica, the bride: Our wedding planner, Silvia from Infinity Weddings, provided us with a list of venues in Tuscany. We shortlisted the venues, jumped on a plane, and went to meet Silvia. We then visited all the venues we liked the look of and narrowed it down to two that we loved. From there we did a lot of research into local hotels, distance from airports, coach hire, etc.

Finally, we made the decision to go with Villa Grabau. We loved the lemon house and surrounding grounds; it just had a relaxed aura about it that we picked up on immediately. When Silvia showed us the lemon house we instantly realized that that was where we wanted to have the wedding.

An Art Deco-Themed Green and Gold Jewish Wedding at The Ned & Banking Hall, London, UK

11/10/2017 by Karen

jewish wedding Banking Hall London UK
Happy Wednesday you gorgeous lot you! We’ve got a very special treat in store for you today with a fabulous 1920s Art Deco-themed Jewish wedding that you’re going to  totally and utterly fall in love with.

Rosanna and Jacob adore the Art Deco aesthetic, so naturally every last detail was Art Deco-ed, even down to getting ready at London’s hottest new hotel, The Ned, which is dripping in Art Deco touches.

They chose a color scheme of deep emerald green with accents of gold and palm-leaf shapes throughout and the result was absolutely gorgeous, with such attention to detail that the theme was even reflected in bride Rosanna’s earrings.

Everything was brought together like an absolute dream under the expert supervision of sensational wedding planner and STG Recommended Vendor, Potcakes Weddings.

Beautiful bride, Rosanna, went for a bespoke gown by Christine Kendall, celebrating the ancient Egyptian influence on Art Deco design, and her naturally gorgeous features were enhanced by fabulous makeup artist and much-loved STG Recommended Vendor, Philippa Louise Makeup.

Speaking of our Recommended Vendors, the dance floor was filled all night by none other than The Function Band – it really was a Smashing The Glass family effort!

The fantastic spread of images below were captured by photographer Richard Payne, supplemented with aplomb by videographer Heartfelt Productions.

We’ll pass you on to Rosanna now for the full writeup of her and Jacob’s magical, vintage-inspired Jewish wedding. Take it away, Rosanna!

How we met

Rosanna, the bride: We met through a mutual friend, and we were close friends for about a year before he asked me out at my 23rd birthday (with some pushing from friends as we were both too nervous!).
