A Super-Glam Jewish Wedding Fit for a Princess at La Cabane Los Monteros, Spa and Golf Resort, Marbella, Spain

22/01/2018 by Karen

Jewish Wedding La Cabane Los Monteros, Spa and Golf Resort, Marbella, Spain
If we could make sure that couples take away any one message from reading Smashing The Glass, it would be this: have your wedding your way. We go on about it a lot, but it’s simply the most important thing – and that’s exactly what Lisa and Joey did with their super-glam Jewish destination wedding in Marbella.

Since childhood, bride Lisa had dreamed of having a real princess dress, and she turned that dream into a reality with a dress so big it needed its own seat on the plane! We definitely approve of those priorities. Lisa pulled the regal look together with perfectly pitched hair and makeup and a beautiful bouquet in her wedding colors of pastel pinks.

There’s no beating a chuppah with a sea view, and Los Monteros Spa and Golf Resort provided the perfect backdrop for the pair’s moving Jewish ceremony.

Planning a destination wedding can have its challenges, but fortunately wedding planner,  Sunshine Weddings Spain, was on hand to ensure the planning went smoothly, and to introduce the couple to fabulous vendors, such as much-loved incredibly talented STG Recommended vendor, photographer Jeremy Standley.

Live music brought the party to life, with performances from a violinist, saxophonist and drummer keeping the energy high after the Israeli dancing.

We’ll pass you over to Lisa for her highly animated and engaging wedding writeup – please give her a warm, Smashing The Glass welcome

How we met

Lisa, the bride: Joey and I met nearly 10 years ago… I know, ‘wow’, right?! Soon, we will have been with each other longer than without! We met through friends and haven’t looked back since… apart from to reminisce about how we met and hit it off!

We are definitely two peas in a pod, even to the point where our answers are exactly the same in our Mr and Mrs questions! We definitely could not be without each other and are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together!

A Blush and Rose Gold Color Scheme for a Romantic Jew-ish Wedding at The Ballroom at Ellis Preserve, Philadelphia, USA

19/01/2018 by Karen

Jewish Wedding The Ballroom at Ellis Preserve, Philadelphia, USA

Today’s real wedding is a very special one – and not just because it’s an absolute beauty (which it TOTALLY is) but because dear Gillian is one of our much-loved real blogging brides of 2017! It’s such an honor and a privilege to finally be able to share her and Pete’s Jew-ish wedding day.

We love a Jew-ish wedding where both cultures and backgrounds are represented, and Gillian and Pete’s mixed-faith ceremony saw their priest and rabbi working together to create something that truly represented them – too beautiful!

Beautiful bride Gillian looked a million bucks in her Tara Keely gown, which she paired with meaningful and custom-made accessories, with a little help from her dad, who is a tailor, and also made Pete’s midnight suit.

A color scheme of blush shades and rose gold is, of course, the ideal excuse to rock that mismatched bridesmaids look, and the overall effect was absolutely stunning.

The couple had so many unique and borrow-able ideas, such as cute-as-a-button custom acrylic signs and the most adorable postcard guest book idea. Guests wrote their good wishes for the couple on postcards, which are still being posted on to them by family to this day. What an excellent way to make your big day last!

The story of the day was captured by the brilliant Blaise Szallasi, whose spread of images you can see below, and the totally stunning cinematic videography is by Wise Films.

We’ll leave you in Gillian’s capable hands for her brilliant writeup. We’ve loved having Gillian’s upbeat voice on the blog, so please give her a standing ovation. Take it away, Gillian!

A Elly Sofocli Bride for a Super Luxe Jewish Wedding at the Epic National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, Australia

17/01/2018 by Karen

Jewish Wedding National Gallery of Victoria Australia_0018
We LOVE a good Australian wedding. Aussies bring a certain sophistication and luxe look that we absolutely adore – they really know how to do it Down Under, and Den and Eden’s Jewish wedding was no exception!

With their loved ones at the forefront of this caring couple’s mind, the pair had their Jewish ceremony in a close friend’s back garden, before a glamorous reception at the iconic and impressive  National Gallery of Victoria.

As luck would have it, bride Den’s mother is an event planner, and was on hand throughout the process to bring everything together. The family-focused couple also adorned their chuppah with the tallit of three of their grandfathers, who had passed away, which we think is a beautiful way to honor lost loved ones during the chuppah service.

Beautiful bride Den looked sensational in her fashion-forward, form-fitting lace illusion  Elly Sofolci Couture  gown. With her bridesmaids all in ivory, holding tumbling bouquets of exotic flowers, the entire aesthetic was so on point that we actually can’t stop staring.

Den and Eden also provided a little extra entertainment to their guests, in the form of powerhouse violinist,  Sally Cooper, whose sublime work you can see on  YouTube. The room must have been simply electric!

Not one, but TWO fabulous Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendors were responsible for capturing the big day.  Jeremy Blode  put his phenomenal photography skills to work, creating a stunning set of images, while videographer Moon & Back  created the romantic, cinematic wedding trailer below.

And now that we’ve prepared you for your dose of wedding pretty, it’s time to leave the blog in Den’s good hands for the writeup of her and Eden’s big day!

A Romantic English Country Garden Jew-ish Wedding at Northbrook Park, Surrey, UK

15/01/2018 by Karen

Jewish-wedding-Northbrook-Park-Surrey-UK
Today’s real Jew-ish real wedding is a very special one and we’re ridiculously excited about it, as lovely Caroline and Robbie were one of editor Karen’s fabulous consultancy couples and to see their wedding come to life has been a total and utter joy! One of our favorite things about Smashing The Glass is the way we so often feel involved, directly or indirectly, in our couples’ big days, and this is particularly true today!

In fact, Caroline and Robbie were so delightful to work with, that they are one of 12 very special guests at our ‘Your Jewish Wedding Your Way’ Smashing Summit on the 31st January 2018 which we are SO excited for! Mindy Weiss, Monique Lhuillier, Ron Ben-Israel, Galia Lahav‘s Chief Designer, Duke Photography, Bruce Russell, Blake Ezra, Food Story, and a whole host of wedding industry superstars will talk live, covering everything (and we mean EVERYTHING!) you need to know to plan your Jewish (or Jew-ish) wedding your way. It’s going to be unmissable so make sure you reserve your (totally free!) front seat today here.

So onto today’s truly fabulous totally dreamy and romantic English country garden Jew-ish wedding! Caroline and Robbie, with so many international connections, could have tied the knot in many places, but chose picturesque Northbrook Park in Surrey, an area with family connections for the happy couple.

Beautiful bride Caroline absolutely rocked her bold, unique and jaw-droppingly gorgeous Liz Martinez gown, with its stunning plunge neckline and layers of fairytale tulle.

There were no fewer than three of our much-loved recommended vendors involved in Caroline and Robbie’s wedding. The Function Band, who created magical moments with their music and kept the party going into the early hours, Philippa Louise whose epic makeup skills brought out Caroline’s best features and Rabbi Paul Glantz, who worked with the couple to create the perfect traditional Jew-ish ceremony.

All of the delightful decor details and happy moments were captured by fabulous photographer Philippa James.

It’s finally beautiful Caroline’s turn in the spotlight on the Smashing The Glass pages – please give her a very warm welcome!

How we met

Caroline, the bride: Robbie and I met five years ago in Sydney, Australia. I was a backpacker on a year’s work and holiday visa, while Robbie was working there as a junior doctor for the year. We met completely by chance in a nightclub in Sydney’s famous Surrey Hills neighbourhood, and the rest is history!

We spent our first three years together traveling the world, including a few months’ journey on the Trans-Siberian Express through China, Mongolia and Russia, and living in Australia and South Africa. Two years ago, we relocated back to Robbie’s hometown of London and have been here ever since.

A Bohemian Love Festival Jewish Wedding With a Greek Party and Midnight Bonfire, Israel

12/01/2018 by Karen

Jewish-Wedding-Tel-Aviv-Israel
Today’s Jewish real wedding vibe could only have been pulled of in the divine olive groves of Israel, with that typical Israeli-cool attitude we adore! Emma and Ofer’s celebration of love took the form of a festival-vibe Greek party with a family-style Friday night dinner and a dreamy late-night bonfire under the stars. Swoon!

We’re getting a different perspective today as the fabulous writeup was provided by none other than much-loved Recommended Vendor, the one and only Gev Rotem from Bebke Productions. Gev worked with Emma and Ofer to really get to know them, their values and their tastes, before designing an incredible multi-area production with a boho-beautiful aesthetic and potted plants aplenty.

The outdoor venue was transformed into a hippie-style ballroom, with teepee tents, a wicker statue, flea market furniture, a dream catcher seating plan, a flamenco singer and an abundance of cacti.

If that wasn’t enough, the food sounded divine, with casserole dishes, kafneh and brewed black coffee, served under stunning and romantic string lights.

In case you don’t already have massive FOMO (I mean, let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to be invited??), the whole story of the day is illustrated with such expertise by phenomenal photographer, the inimitable Liron Erel, who we simply love!

We’ll pass you over to Gev for the full story on how Emma and Ofer’s big day came together – please be warned that you may find yourself changing your own wedding plans to a destination wedding in Israel!

A bohemian festival vibe

Gev Rotem from Bebke Productions, the wedding planner: When Emma And Ofer contacted us, we tried to understand what is the experience they are looking for. They were looking for a venue surrounded by nature, which would create the atmosphere of a special local bohemian festival, filled with joy and love.

We found them a special venue in the country, an olive grove that belongs to a family of farmers. We chose a different area for each stage of the wedding. A canopy area, a Greek party complex, a family dining area and of course a special area for the party. For example, we used a car park and turned it into the dining area.

The place was suitable because each part of the wedding received a separate space that suited the unique atmosphere. It was a pure, natural, isolated and far from any settlement what gave us a sense of freedom and only 20 minutes from Tel Aviv.
