Tanya & Alek | Super-sophisticated + intimate white-themed Jewish wedding, Bali, Indonesia

Today’s Bali wedding takes your breath away, thanks in major part to the images beautifully captured by Marcus from Studio Impressions. The other major contributor is a seamless blend of modern details paired with a tropical backdrop so beautiful, and a Bride and Groom with smiles as big as I’ve ever seen.

Tanya and Alek, originally from San Francisco, live in New York and chose a new and, quite honestly, astonishing Bali resort called Alila Villas Soori for their wedding destination. Their guests travelled from all around the world for this outrageously stylish wedding, and frankly, why wouldn’t you?

I love so many voguish details about this wedding: Tanya’s incredible bridal style, the fact that all the couple’s guests were dressed in white, and that for the ceremony, instead of using rows of chairs, they used comfy couches and ottomans. So intimate, and such a beautiful scene.

As well as an Indonesian wedding being featured for the first time on STG today, we’re also doing something we’ve never done before, and that’s hearing about the wedding from both Tanya the bride and also Marcus, the photographer…

Lena & Asaf | Family + Fun Jewish wedding at Melbourne University + Luminare, Melbourne

I love all the effort that’s gone into this wedding from family and friends – there’s lots of thoughtful family input throughout this relaxed and pretty affair that I think anyone trying to pull of a wedding with that homespun feel can be inspired.
There’s tons of all-round fabulousness, and in particular lots of beautiful design touches like giant foam letters, and branded bars of wedding chocolate. Yes. Branded bars of wedding chocolate! I am completely obsessed with that idea.. and the execution.

I also *adore* the music that Lena and Asaf chose for their ceremony. They chose a medley of two hebrew songs that I’d actually never heard of before, but on giving them a whirl whilst compiling this post, I now can’t stop listening to them. Scroll down to hear more (literally!).

All of this awesomeness was captured forever by Vanilla Images. And you luckies have also got the immense film of this wedding, created by the fantastic Wheelhouse Studios. You’re gonna love that.

So without further ado, let me hand over to Lena, our gorgeous bride, for her account of STG’s first Australian wedding. It’s a corker!

VENUE
Lena, The Bride: Our ceremony was held at Melbourne University, in the Old Quadrangle. We wanted an outdoor ceremony that had the option of going undercover if the weather turned bad. Asaf went to Melbourne Uni so we already had an idea of what it looked like, and on a friends recommendation we visited and loved the area.

The reception was held at Luminare, South Melbourne. One look at the breath-taking view and we knew we found the perfect venue. Our decision was complimented by the contemporary decor and inspiring menu.

As the newest member of the STG team, I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to try and ingratiate myself with you all, by giving you a chance to win an absolutely fabulous bouquet from top London florist, Mary Jane Vaughan Designs (worth £125) and a pair of tickets, worth £40, to the best wedding show out there – Condà© Nast’s Brides the Show on March 22nd & 23rd 2014.

But I must admit to a tinge of sadness. You see there are two things that make me slightly wince about my own London winter wedding in 2010 – the flowers and the absence, at the time, of a really elegant, hands-on wedding show to give me proper inspiration and ideas. I’d love to take two and do it all over again (with the same man, I promise!)

Don’t get me wrong I absolutely loved every minute of my snowy wedding – the ceremony in Marylebone and the Thames-side reception – but I’ve always regretted scrimping on the flowers. And in the hurry to get my husband down the aisle, the 5 month preparation time I had, didn’t give me the opportunity to shop about as I would now. The Condà© Nast Brides the Show didn’t exist then alas as it would have been perfect!
