An Essense of Australia Bride for The Ultimate Pacific Northwest Jewish Wedding Weekend at The Evergreen PDX, Portland, Oregon, USA

26/07/2024 by Karen Cinnamon

Allison-and-Dan-The-Evergreen-PDX-Portland-Oregon-USA

Portland transplants Allison and Dan are understandably smitten with their new home – and when it came time to plan their wedding, they wanted to share their love of the Pacific Northwest with their mostly East Coast guest list.

And did they ever! Crafting a full-on wedding weekend capturing both the natural grandeur and urban charm of the area, this Jewish wedding has it all: trees, bold colors, and of course Portland’s trademark quirky character at full strength.

We’re absolutely in love with Allison and Dan’s outdoor chuppah set in a clearing amidst Hoyt Arboretum’s lush evergreens, made of dark, natural wood and adorned with a canopy of greenery and roses in hues of white, soft oranges and corals – don’t miss it in the wonderful images by Kate Holt Photography!

Read on for all the details of this very special day in the bride’s own words!

How We Met

Allison, the bride: We met for our first date on June 9, 2017. Dan had just moved back to New Jersey from Oklahoma and Allison was living in Philadelphia, PA. Thanks to Jeff and Anna Fineberg (Dan’s brother and sister-in-law), Dan was dog-sitting Josie Beagle. We both swiped right and, after a few conversations, made a date to meet up for iced coffee. After meeting up, we sat on a bench talking outside of the Benjamin Franklin museum for a few hours. A Philadelphia resident came up and asked when the wedding would be; we still need to locate him to let him know he might be in the running for best man! In late 2018, we moved in together in New Jersey and then in January 2020, across the country to Portland, OR with our cat Zoë.

Since moving to Portland, we have braved a pandemic, job changes, a lot of hard work, nearby fires, a few snow storms, and a flood!

Our Engagement Story: Allison’s maternal grandmother (Renée, also known as Grandma Nay) always valued the finer things in life. In fact, Grandma Nay instructed two year old Allison to ask for rubies, diamonds, and pearls when someone asked her what she wanted as a gift even though at that point, Allison was more focused on toys and puppies! Grandma Nay passed away in August of 2020 and Allison was gifted grandma’s engagement ring. While they didn’t have the same style, Allison was excited to use her grandmother’s center stone in her own engagement ring.

Allison grew up knowing that her mother and father had designed their engagement ring, so always envisioned a custom ring in for her own engagement. Instead of leaving anything to chance, when she and Dan began talking about marriage, Allison worked with a jeweler from Philadelphia and was involved in the entire ring design process, making her dream of a custom engagement ring a reality! In addition to Nay’s center stone being a key element in the design, Allison also included baguettes from Grandma Nay’s ring in her wedding band. We were engaged on October 7, 2021, when the ring came in the mail via FedEx. The package was opened and, in the kitchen in our PJs and exercise clothes, the ring was immediately placed on Allison’s finger. And while it wasn’t exactly a cover of a magazine moment, (Dan had just gotten through with a strenuous bike ride) it was the perfect engagement and 100% true to us!Continue ReadingContinue Reading

An Elegant Jewish Wedding with Unforgettable Music at Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort, Scotland, UK

22/07/2024 by Karen Cinnamon

Sam-and-Sophie-Mar-Hall-Golf-Spa-Resort-Scotland

Sophie and Sam’s Jewish wedding at Mar Hall, outside Glasgow, was the most perfectly elegant celebration, featuring a stunning indoor/outdoor venue, a moving ceremony (complete with gorgeous floral chuppah), and unforgettable music from start to finish.

Sophie and Sam knew from the get-go that music was a high priority, and they chose Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor The Twentysomethings to create the perfect atmosphere throughout the day. The couple worked closely with the band to craft their setlist, including personalized wedding procession songs. From the emotional chuppah performance by The Twentysomethings Duo and their Israeli vocalist through to the 9-piece band that kept guests on the dancefloor all evening long, it’s safe to say The Twentysomethings totally rocked it.

Take one look at the photos by Ashley Coombes and you can see what a fabulous time was had by all. Now over to the couple for all the details…

A Classic Venue

Sophie, the bride and Sam, the groom: We had multiple run throughs and visits with the venue, Mar Hall, and Nicola from the events team who were always willing to accommodate our plans and needs.  She helped ensure specific family were placed in accessible rooms where needed.  The beautiful grounds of the hotel and stunning visual of the hall itself made for some amazing photos. Our pre-ceremony / drinks were held within the hall itself, our ceremony took place in Morton House (Part of the estate next to the main Hall) and dinner / dancing took place in the Garden Pavilion.Continue ReadingContinue Reading

A Mira Zwillinger Bride for a Designers’ Jewish Wedding Featuring a Sea Moss Chuppah at Chablé Maroma, Riviera Maya, Mexico

15/07/2024 by Karen Cinnamon

Steph-and-Brett-Chable-Maroma-Riviera-Maya

When two design pros get married, you can bet their big day is going to be something special – and that’s absolutely the case when it comes to the fabulous Jewish wedding of NYC couple Steph and Brett.

These two put their own stamp on their Riviera Maya destination wedding by designing and building everything from the event programs to welcome bags to table assignments – and their choice of ultra-stylish boutique hotel Chablé Maroma set the perfect backdrop.

Naturally, when it came to choosing a ketubah, only the best would do – and when Steph and Brett stumbled onto Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Brit Yudell of BritColors, they knew they’d found just the artist to craft their magical embroidered ketubah.

We’re also in love with the couple’s chuppah, crafted from locally sourced wood and covered in sea moss – don’t miss it in Amanda Young’s exquisite, artistic photos.

We’ll let Steph – who looked positively radiant in her gown by Israeli designer Mira Zwillinger – take it from here…

How We Met

Steph, the bride: We met through work! Brett was a producer at a fabrication shop, and I was looking to hire someone to build my company a booth for a trade show. Given the small scale of the project, we never would have needed to meet if not for my pushy creative direction—I figured if I lived a few blocks from the shop, why not go in person and explain my vision? I’m so glad I did, because once I locked eyes with Brett, it was on.Continue ReadingContinue Reading

A Multicultural Hindu-Jewish Wedding at Offley Place, Hitchin, UK

08/07/2024 by Karen Cinnamon

Nimisha-and-Solomon-Offley-Place-UK

We love a good multicultural wedding – and Nimisha and Sol’s is just beyond gorgeous! When the UK couple started wedding planning, their overarching theme was to craft a celebration that honored both of their traditions – Nimisha’s Hindu, while Sol is Jewish – equally.

The pair crafted a bespoke ceremony blending both Hindu and Jewish traditions, with a Hindu priest and a rabbi co-officiating. They married under a gorgeous rustic canopy, blending the Hindu mandap with the Jewish chuppah, and we can’t get enough of the forest vibes Nimisha and Sol created with their color scheme of ivory, white, and green and candle holders, foliage, and lanterns throughout.

We also love that this wedding featured a big family dance, Bollywood-style, which everyone practiced for months – sometimes on Zoom! Photographer Roshni Patel captured the day so beautifully, and the couple’s videographer, Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Denee Motion, brought their trademark cinematic style to the day.

Read on for all the other fab details of this very special day in Nimisha’s own words…

A Mira Zwillinger Bride for a Classic Jewish Wedding in Black and White at The Rockleigh, New Jersey, USA

01/07/2024 by Karen Cinnamon

Brooke-and-Jacob-The-Rockleigh-New-Jersey-USA

Today’s Jewish wedding is just SO classically elegant, we can’t get enough of it. Brooke, who works in marketing, and Jacob, in impact investing, crafted the most exquisite day at The Rockleigh in New Jersey, and we are all about their glam style – don’t miss the bride’s gown from Israeli designer Mira Zwillinger!

There’s no question that this wedding is a stunner – don’t miss the joyous photos by Ira Lippke Studios and trailer by The Totos – but that’s hardly all there is to it. Brooke and Jacob were committed to crafting a day full of personal, meaningful touches – like their custom ketubah by Britt Yudell of Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor BritColors, incorporating embroidered mountains to reflect the couples’ love of skiing and a beaded sun to commemorate the acoustic version of “Here Comes the Sun” Brooke chose for walking down the aisle.

Brooke tragically lost her father at age six, and the couple thought up some beautiful ways to incorporate him into the day. The pair wrapped themselves in Brooke’s dad’s tallit for the blessing by the parents, Brooke got ready wearing a robe made from her mom’s wedding dress, and the rabbi who officiated was best friends with Brooke’s dad.

Read on for all the other wonderful details of this very special day in Brooke’s own words…

How We Met

Brooke, the bride: We met on Hinge after the algorithm suggested us saying that it thought we would be a perfect match – clearly it was right! We started chatting over Thanksgiving week in 2018 and had both never enjoyed talking to someone so much before even going on a first date, so we knew that it was special even before meeting in person. Once we had our first date we hit it off and the rest is history!Continue ReadingContinue Reading
