THREE FACTS: (1) James proposed to Charlotte in Florence… on her parent’s 36th wedding anniversary (aaaah – we love that!) (2) They are planning a Jewish urban-rustic wedding in East London (3) They have already decided on their wedding hashtags — it’s #dropitlikeitshart !
London’s The Wedding Gallery, a one stop department store for all things wedding is seriously amazing when you first start planning, but at this late stage I had to find an excuse to go, this is where James comes in!
James was thinking about suits, and had been going back and forth knowing he didn’t want just any off the rack number. He wanted custom made. There are so many places around London that do this, but having looked into the appointments they have at The Wedding Gallery* I knew this would be right for him.
James had done some minor research, the words “James Bond in Sky Fall” or “Leonardo Di Caprio in The Great Gatsby” came to his mind when looking at suits. So at least we had an idea for style when we went.
Smashing The Glass LOVES The Wedding Gallery!
The Wedding Gallery is situated underneath One Marylebone, in central London. We met the menswear stylist, Dominic who is just amazing! He took us for a tour through each section of the store. In you walk through a hidden bookcase in reception into the beauty section, which sells Jo Malone and smells like a total dream when you enter. Through to jewellery, where James had his first try of some wedding bands. Which he didn’t take too seriously, as he ended up looking like a child with hula hoops on his fingers!
Then down through the sea of wedding dresses, this is a serious game changer for brides everywhere. They have the dreamiest curated collections — they are the only store in the UK to sell Vera Wang!
After some serious drooling on my part, we finally reached the menswear gallery. With bookcases filled with accessories, a bar cart filled with whisky and racks of suits. We sat down with Dominic for a styling consultation. James showed him some ideas that he had on Pinterest, and we spoke about the venue, how our wedding is black tie. And most importantly budget.
Dominic mentioned the tailoring brand, Casely-Hayford who creates all of Sam Smith’s suits. And instantly it was a match. He tried on a few different styles and shapes, and because he is having a custom made suit. This is where the fun part began. James was passed books full of suiting fabrics, lapels and linings. He was like a kid in a candy store!

We were brought socks from Pantherella and other accessories to match. And before you know it were sat back in the planning area with glasses of prosecco (and green tea for James) signing on the dotted line, for James’ dream wedding suit.
Since then we have spent a fun Friday night getting James’ measurements taken with the tailor at Casely-Hayford, whilst I went round the store with a glass of bubbly in hand and trying on jewellery.
Our experience was incredible there and we couldn’t recommend The Wedding Gallery any higher. If you are in London, definitely go visit!
*All members of Smashing The Glass’s VIB Club get their appointment fee waived (normally £30) for a bridal styling appointment for the bride and two guests with designers to choose from like Vera Wang, Suzanne Neville, Sassi Holford, and many more. Alternatively this can be used for the groom and his outfit!
