Two Gorgeous Brides for a Same-Sex Backyard DIY Jewish Micro Wedding in Cambria, California, USA

26/02/2021 by Karen Cinnamon Leave a Comment

Monique-and-Sidnie-private-residence-Cambria-CA

We are absolutely obsessed with the joyous, intimate, family-focused micro Jewish wedding of Smashing The Glass Brides Club member Sidnie, a diagnostic medical sonographer, and Monique, a cafe manager. Due to COVID, these two shifted their plans from a 115-guest wedding at a winery to a micro affair in Mo’s parents’ backyard.

While this obviously wasn’t their first choice, we love how the pair embraced the opportunities their minimony opened up for them – from being able to include all their friends and family from all over the world via livestream to special touches like a rehearsal dinner flower arrangement party, where everyone teamed up to assemble bouquets, corsages, and boutonnières for everyone at the wedding!

We love how Sidnie and Mo involved their family in everything from building their chuppah to cooking the reception meal to setting up and taking down all the décor – even their photographer, Adrian Throckmorton, is a cousin, and of course we’re SO incredibly touched by Sidnie’s beautiful words about her experience as a member of our Brides Club:

As a newly converted Jewish woman, it was incredibly powerful to feel such a sense of community with Jewish brides all over the world. From advice on a wedding dilemma to celebrating WPWs, these women made me feel like I had hundreds of the most dedicated bridesmaids supporting me! There were times I didn’t want to pester the people in my life with what was happening with the wedding and in those moments, Brides Club was there for me.

And we’re all over the couple’s stellar bridal fashion sense – Sidnie’s Essense of Australia gown, featuring  elegant off the shoulder straps, buttons all the way down the back, and pockets, and Mo’s custom suit she created with LGBTQ+ and size inclusive company Sharpe Suiting, where, with the help of her consultant, she was able to tie in everything from the wedding colors and flowers to embroider “Ani Ledodi V’Dodi Le” inside her jacket!

A Beachy Same-Sex Jewish Wedding at Harbour House Oceanfront Venue, Indian Harbour Shores, Florida, USA

06/11/2020 by Karen Cinnamon

Tess-and-Ashley-Harbour-House-Ocean-Front-Venue-Florida

What’s better than one beautiful bride? TWO beautiful brides, of course! Tessa and Ashley had the most incredibly heartfelt beach front Jewish wedding, and we are here for it!

This wedding was so full of wonderful personal touches – we love the fact that Ashley’s brother served as the officiant (and, naturally, delivered an incredibly moving speech), and we’re also obsessed with the couple’s gorgeous colorful ketubah from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Nava Shoham, which Tessa and Ashley now proudly display in their home!

And how special is it that, unbeknownst to each other, Tessa and Ashley both ended up selecting stunning fitted lace gowns from local boutique  Calla Blanche! Now that’s a first look to remember!

We’ll let Ashley fill you in on the rest…

How we Met

Ashley: They say when you meet the right person, you know. Ironically, we actually grew up about 45 minutes from each other. Our high schools played soccer against each other and our lives overlapped in a few moves across the county in our college years. We found out we had the same groups of friends circles but we didn’t meet in person until three years ago living in Florida through a mutual friend who planned for us to go as a friend group to the Katy Perry concert.

A Vineyard Festival Wedding Featuring Two Brides in Limor Rosen and Tamara, South of Tel Aviv, Israel

07/12/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding vineyard south of Tel Aviv, Israel_0015
This wedding! Today’s Jewish wedding is what summer festival wedding dreams are made of. Mor, the CEO of a rock climbing gym, and Rotem, a software engineer, had the dreamiest ever Israeli vineyard wedding, expertly captured by photographer Roman Balashov and videographer Guy Lahav.

We’re obsessed with their minimalist magical chuppah — which the brides credit to their amazing planner, Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Bebke. With just a few artfully placed bottle vases full of flowers and greenery artfully draped from the poles, it shows you don’t have to go for something crazy ornate to make a big impact.

We also love that the couple crafted an ultra-personal ceremony incorporating Jewish tradition with their own personalities and values. The brides’ sisters officiated, and rather than saving speeches for the meal, Mor and Rotem decided to include them during the chuppah — including an incredibly emotional one by Mor’s mother. We love the idea of making speeches a part of your ceremony — such a special way to involve important people, and to inject some individuality into the proceedings!

Both brides were perfectly decked out in boho chic splendor, with Mor in Limor Rosen and Rotem wearing Tamara. Oh, and did we mention that they chose “I Kissed a Girl” as their recessional?! LOVE!!!!

Now over to Rotem…

A Jewish-Cuban-Italian Same-Sex Destination Wedding at La Chiusa, Montefollonico, Siena, Tuscany, Italy

28/11/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Destination Lesbian Jew-ish wedding La Chiusa, Montefollonico, Siena, Tuscany, Italy_0054
“GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION to have the wedding of your dreams. Whatever it is.”

Amen to that, Risa! Our couples always have so much Jewish and Jew-ish wedding wisdom to pass on, but it’s not every day we get offered up advice that so perfectly describes our mission here at Smashing The Glass.

Risa, who owns a boutique casting house in NYC, and Anna, a lead analyst for a creative agency, certainly had the wedding of their dreams, and it just might turn out to be the wedding of your dreams too.  Do have a scroll through Beatrice Moricci’s majestic photos! You can really see why Risa says this awesome photographer was the “best decision we’ve ever made – apart from choosing one another!”

Between the totally swoon-worthy Tuscan setting (that also served to honor Risa’s late Italian father), a hora played by an authentic Cuban band, Michelin-starred catering using ingredients picked out of an on-site garden the morning of the wedding, a sweet floral chuppah, and a gelato card, we’re pretty much sold on this one.

The brides did SUCH a fab job of combining Risa’s Jewish and Italian heritage with Anna’s Cuban background, plus their own sensibilities as a 21st-century couple, and we adore the fact that they decided to BOTH break a glass at the end of the ceremony.

It doesn’t hurt that these two are a seriously stylish duo, either — Risa’s non-traditional blush floral gown from Rara Avis is truly a sight to behold, and Anna’s custom blue tux from Bindle & Keep was super dapper.

Now we’ll hand you over to Risa whose writeup of this exceptional day is truly memorable…

An Intimate, Emotional Same Sex Jewish Wedding by the Sea at Beit Andromeda in Jaffa, Israel

14/09/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding Beit Andromeda, Jaffa, Israel_0012
This beautiful Jewish wedding is ALL about the love. Okay, and maybe a little bit about that fab ocean view, too.

We adore how brides Avital and Gili kept the focus of their day on what mattered to them. They kept their wedding super intimate — for instance, their rule in deciding who to invite? Only people they really truly love. Aww!

The pair also designed an ultra-personal modern ceremony, with original vows and blessings from family, officiated by one of their best friends.

One other thing we’re all over? The custom jewelry the brides created together to wear on the day (earrings for both brides, plus a necklace for Avital). What wonderful souvenirs, and maybe even future family heirlooms!

Photographer Natalie Schor and videographer Igor from Viditeo did such a fantastic job of capturing all the emotion of the day — you can really see the love between these two in the gorgeous photos and video.

We’ll let the brides take it from here…

A Wedding by the Beach

Avital and Gili, the brides: We got married in Beit Andromeda, Jaffa. We chose it because it is next to the beach, with amazing food, great atmosphere, small and intimate vibe, and great staff.
