Today’s couple, Dylan, an elementary school teacher at a Jewish day school, and Daniel, a medical student, wanted their Jewish wedding to capture the magic of two cities that have played a special role in their lives: Chicago, where they currently live – and where they married at the gorgeous Langham Hotel – and New Orleans, where they met as undergrads at Tulane.
Dylan and Daniel added lots of fun nods to their life in the Big Easy, like the throwing of Mardi Gras beads from the stage. We also love that the duo, who collect match books from around the world during their travels, had custom match boxes at the bars! Don’t miss all the wonderful details in the beautiful images by Christy and James of Christy Tyler Photography.
And of course we can’t leave without saying a few words about Dylan and Daniel’s stunner of a floral chuppah, featuring blooms in pink and white.
Now over to Dylan…

How We Met
Dylan, the bride: We met in 2019 at Tulane University when we were set up for Daniel’s ZBT formal (Dylan was in SDT) and have been together every since.
Venue
We got married at the The Langham Hotel in Chicago on March 7, 2026. We have been living in Chicago and wanted to get married in the city we love so much!

Theme
Although we no longer live in New Orleans, we wanted to make sure our wedding had plenty of New Orleans touches to it, like the throwing of Mardi Gras beads from the stage. We also have collected match books from around the world during our travels and incorporated that into our wedding through custom match boxes at the bars. We wanted the wedding to feel like us and have intentional choices, so the inclusion of pink (my favorite color that Daniel has graciously welcome into his life and home) into the wedding design was a no brainer. I decided to not wear white for my after party and instead opt for a hot pink Givenchy mini dress that I found second hand while doing my daily scroll of TheRealReal. We had the BEST planner ever – Shaun Rajah!

Invitation/Stationery
Eventful Designs made our beautiful invitations and matches. The invitations included both of our Hebrew names, which was important to us to include.

Dress
My dress was made by Verdin Bridal and it was their Adeline dress. I knew it was the one because I have never felt more beautiful than when I was wearing this dress.

Ceremony & Chuppah
During the ceremony, we had many special touches. We were wrapped in my grandmother’s (in blessed memory) tallit for our blessing, which was special as it incorporated her into the ceremony even though she is no longer with us. Our favorite part of the ceremony was reading our personal vows to each other, as they were a true testament to our love for each other.

Ketubah
Our Ketubah was custom made by Remy Joy Art. She worked with us during the months leading up to our wedding to create a custom ketubah that felt like a true reflection of us as people, our relationship, and our wedding. The flowers on the Ketubah matched the flowers featured in our chuppah as well as the floral centerpieces at our reception.

Our music choice
I walked down to aisle to a string version of What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong (to honor New Orleans). Our first dance was All Your’n by Tyler Childers. All entertainment (string trio, band, and DJ) came from Greenlight Chicago with Rendezvous Music.

Flowers
We had white and pink peonies, roses, and other pink/white blooms throughout our entire wedding. I carried peonies in my bouquet. The florist we used was Life in Bloom.

Photographer and videographer
Christy Tyler Photography was the perfect choice for our wedding photography. From our first interaction, Christy and James were kind, sincere, and incredibly detailed in their communication, putting us at ease throughout the entire process.

Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
The best piece of advice I could give to future brides is to build a vendor team you trust with your whole life. While I was still stressed about a variety of wedding details, I ultimately trusted my team so much that I was able to be completely in the moment come wedding day and just enjoy marrying my best friends and celebrating with our closest friends and family!
