Before we get into the details of Samantha and Troy’s sensational super luxe Jewish wedding, there’s also something to be learned from the way that the happy couple met: always keep your eyes open – you could meet your soulmate anywhere. In this case, walking to your car!
Today’s wedding is a total feast for the eyes as bride Samantha owns a fashion business, and brought her own sense of style to the aesthetic of the day.
Samantha and Troy opted for a traditional white wedding at Samantha’s parents’ private residence in Melbourne, Australia. Adorned with an abundance of outstanding floral arrangements (THAT CHUPPAH!!) and styled to perfection, with not a detail missed, the day was so deliciously decadent, it really was the dictionary definition of a dream wedding – an absolute triumph for wedding planner, Styled by Coco.
The day, of course, ended with a bang – a lot of bangs, actually, in an out-of-this-world fireworks display.
The impact of the dà©cor, and parts of the firework display, can be lived vicariously through the stunning and cinematic video by Untitled Images, which also brings to life the heartfelt and loving speeches delivered by the couple’s devoted friends and family.
Bride Samantha looked straight from the pages of a glossy magazine in her breathtaking J’Aton Couture dress, flawless makeup and chic up ‘do.
Photographer Yervant Photography captured every moment with expert ease, and Samantha has provided us with the wonderful writeup below. Enjoy – and please DO Pin everything you love (that’s a lot of Pinning!)
How we met
Samantha, the bride: We bumped into each other on a Friday night in September 2013, Keilor Road, Niddrie. Literally – bumped into each other. I was walking to my car, and Troy was out getting a bite to eat, when I bumped into his chest and then remarked how tall he was. After a brief conversation, we decided to grab a bite to eat together, nachos. We ate, chatted and exchanged phone numbers and that was it that night.
We met up a couple of days later, struck up a conversation and decided to catch up again soon. A friendship was about to turn into a relationship.
A few weeks later, I went a holiday that had already been planned, and I was thinking about Troy the whole time I was away. Troy was missing me too. On my return, the friendship did become a relationship as we proclaimed our love for each other. Six months later we were living together… and here we are today!
Home is where the heart is
Troy and I got married in our backyard. I have always wanted a fairytale wedding, but to also have my style incorporated with it too. It only felt right to do this as I have always been very close to my family.
With a bit of transformation of my tennis court, we made this the most spectacular wedding look I could have ever wished for.
A nice day for a white wedding
I am known to be really extravagant, with a classic style, so I knew I wanted a white wedding with lots of flowers.
I also wanted the best food, so the The Big Group and The Glass House made sure the food was amazing.
We had canapà©s, then antipasto on the table, with a la carte entrà©es and mains selections for each guest. The food was out of the world.
Wow-factor invitations
Our invitation was really special and all our guests couldn’t believe how amazing it looked. It was a white/cream box from Ooh Aah Invitations with beautiful white ribbon to close.
They also did our menus, which were in a book form, thank you cards, which were all matching with our gold leaf logo on the front, and little favour boxes too.
They have great attention to detail, including binding writing, as well as an image of girl and guy dancing at the back. Love the consistency in their work from start to end.
Flawless hair and makeup
For my makeup, I had the beautiful DollFace Nathalie. She is truly the best makeup artist, makes me feel all relaxed and always does the best flawless job. I wouldn’t have gone with anyone else.
All our hair was styled by Lady Marmalade – the girls looked amazing.
A J’Aton Couture gown
My dress was from J’Aton Couture. I have loved their amazing style for many years, and knew I wanted to have a dress from there.
I didn’t know what style I wanted till about six months before the wedding. I want something sexy, fitted, but then I also wanted that ‘wow’ factor when I walked down the aisle. I walked down the aisle with the overskirt on, and then for the reception just had a slimmer dress.
Gifted jewelry
My mother bought me Paul Bram earrings to wear on the big day. We both choose them together. They were truly special.
Louboutin vs Valentino
I bought lace Christian Louboutins but the day before, decided I wanted to match my bridesmaids, so I wore Valentino Rockstuds for the ceremony. These helped me to feel more secure walking down the aisle with such a heavy dress on, and later changed into the Christian Louboutin for the reception.
The handsome groom
Troy wore a suit from Peter Jackson, shoes from Aquila, shirt, socks, bow tie from Hugo Boss and a TAG Heuer watch. Troy is six foot six, so I couldnt wait to see him looking all buff and clean in his suit. He looked more handsome then ever!
Bridesmaids in Rachel Gilbert dresses
My bridesmaids all looked amazing, wearing white beaded Rachel Gilbert dresses, jewelry from Shh Secrets, and matching Valentino Rockstud heels.
My flower girl wore a custom dress designed by J’Aton Couture using the same lace and pearls from my wedding dress. She was only two, but I wanted to include her, she is literally like my mini me and it was so special to see her walk down the aisle with one of my best friends.
A bold, floral chuppah
We decided on the chuppah design from a few inspirational photos that I had seen online. I knew I wanted it bold, as well as something I would always remember.
Baby you’re a firework
I walked down the aisle to Ave Maria by Beyonce, which since I was a child had the dream of doing. I remember when I was younger hearing it with my grandparents that are no longer with us – it was so special to include them in my day.
The father/ daughter dance was to I Love You Samantha. It was sentimental, because we always used to listen to this song in the car, as it’s from a movie we liked, High Society.
We had our first dance to Close Your Eyes from Michael Bublà© and then went on to watch eight minutes of the most amazing fireworks I had ever seen, whilst playing Sky Full of Diamonds in the background. It was really a special moment, and everyone was out on the balcony just taking it all in. The Hyper Group did the amazing fireworks presentation.
Fabulous floristry
Styled by Coco designed all florals for the special day and The Bouquets of Ascha Jolie brought them to life. The bouquets and buttonholes were white columbian roses
The centerpieces were classic white roses, David Austin roses, peonies, hydrangeas, phalaenopsis orchids, cluster roses, columbian roses and tulips.
Too-pretty-to-eat cake
Styled by Coco designed the overall aesthetic of the cake to flow beautifully with the other styled elements in the room. Cake Ink brought the stunning design to life.
An entertaining MC
Our celebrant, Mike Larkan, also ran the reception as the MC and, with his humour, kept all the guests engaged the whole night. He does the weather during the week on Channel 10, and we loved his humorous personality.
Rutherford Entertainment entertained the guests with their amazing singers and saxophone.
Edible favors
For our favors, we had little bottles of Moet on the tables. Also at the ceremony, we had little boxes that guest could fill up with little love heart chocolates with our wedding logo, as well as sugared almonds in satin bags – old family traditions.
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
I was a stress head a few months before, trying to organize it all, as I am a perfectionist and want things done a certain way. However, the girls at Styled by Coco went above and beyond to make our dream wedding a reality and by the last week, we knew we were in safe hands.
My recommendation to other brides is to have the best people running the show. If you meet up with a stylist, photographer or anyone else that doesn’t understand what you want, don’t feel bad about letting them go. Have the right people that know you and your style, and it will make the whole experience a lot more enjoyable.
