How NYC chic is the gorgeous Jewish micro wedding of Amy, who works in marketing for a real estate developer, and Adam, who works in finance for a media company?!
These two had a big NYE wedding planned, but the pandemic forced them to reimagine their big day. With the help of the fabulous Joanna Greenfield of Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ruby J Events, Amy and Adam opted for an ultra-intimate celebration – the guest list was limited to immediate family and one friend each for the bride and groom – at the elegant Gramercy Park Hotel.
Amy went into planning without much of a vision for her micro wedding, but Joanna honed in on what she was looking for and put together the day of her dreams. Amy worked with Joanna independently to plan the day, and the details ended up being a surprise to all – even her mother! Needless to say, the results were nothing short of breathtaking – don’t miss the joyous images from Steven Young from Stak Photography. Due to Amy and Adam’s tight schedule once they set their new date, they needed a ketubah fast – and Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubah.com’s selection of beautiful “quick ship” options came to the rescue, as it so often does for couples facing a time crunch.
Now over to the bride, who looked luminous in Sareh Nouri…
How we Met
Amy, the bride: We met in 2008 at Penn State University. Adam knew then that I was going to be his person; I had no idea; thought I just had a new friend. We remained friends until 2016 when we started dating.
Venue and wedding plans
Adam and I initially wanted a small, intimate wedding in Napa but our families wanted to have a bigger celebration. We decided to go all out and have a NYE wedding at Le Chateau in South Salem, NY. When COVID hit, we knew that our wedding would get cancelled and in September, we were able to plan something new. While we wanted a small, casual beach wedding, we knew the weather window wasn’t in our favor.
We limited our guest list to only immediate family and a close friend for each of us and had an indoor wedding at the Gramercy Park Hotel. Our amazing wedding planner, Joanna, showed us a few select venues, and as soon as we saw Gramercy Park Hotel, we knew it was the one.
Theme
We worked with Joanna Greenfield of Ruby J Events. I’m the least “bridal” bride so I didn’t have much of a vision. I was able to look at images and say like/don’t like, but I didn’t have any pre-conceived themes or color schemes. Joanna was able to hone in on what I was looking for and made it absolutely perfect.
Invitations
We ended up not doing invitations. Thank you notes were done by Steph B and Co.
Hair + Make-up
I wanted to look like myself but enhanced just a bit. Nikki Avanzino did my hair and Elena Miglino did makeup.
A Sareh Nouri Dress
My dress was from Saks. Designer is Sareh Nouri. It was trumpet style and beaded which I would’ve never imagined for my wedding dress! It felt so appropriate for NYE and I’m so happy I picked it because it was perfect for our wedding even though it wasn’t on NYE.
Accessories
I had a pair of Nadri teardrop earrings.
Shoes
I wore Saint Laurent Robin Lace Sandals. They were VERY high heels. Shortly after the ceremony I took them off and put on my birkenstocks.
The handsome groom
Adam wore a navy blue velvet blazer from Brooks Brothers. His bowtie and pants were from Brooks Brothers as well. Adam wore a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo monk strap shoes. He looked very handsome!
Bridesmaids
I didn’t formally have bridesmaids. My sister was matron of honor and Adam’s sister was a bridesmaid as well. They were allowed to wear whatever they wanted, no restrictions whatsoever. They both looked stunning in black!
Ceremony
The chuppah looked amazing and I loved all of the candles. The ambiance was perfect. My favorite part was listening to Adam’s vows. And also, our dog Penny walked down the aisle. That was kind of wonderful.
Adam and I both wrote our own vows which was really important to us. It was only me organsing the wedding with Joanna, so the day was a complete surprise for everyone else. My mum had no idea what to expect! Speeches were at the dining table and very personal, no stage and microphone, just very intimate and special.
Ketubah
We had limited time once we figured out our new wedding date. Our ketubah was from Ketubah.com and we selected one that was a “quick ship.”
Chuppah
I let Joanna run with it and it was absolutely stunning!
Our Music Choice
Adam + parents – “Here Comes the Sun’’ by The Beatles
Bride + parents – “Maybe I’m Amazed’’ by Paul McCartney
End of ceremony – “You Can’t Hurry Love” by The Supremes
First Dance – “You’re My Best Friend” by Queen
Flowers
Joanna from Ruby J Events took care of everything. I trusted her to work with one of her preferred vendors, who in this case was Pedestals Floral Decorators. They were amazing. I wanted something very classy and simple, no frills. They advised on white hydrangeas, roses, babys breath.
Photographer
We worked with Steven Young from Stak Photography. We hit it off on our first call and were excited to work with him.
Food and Cake
Gramercy Park Hotel provided all of the food and drinks. Lulu Bakery created my cake. They are the best! I wanted something again very simple and they have a great selection for micro weddings at the moment so it was a perfect fit.
Entertainment
Our band was Metropolitan Players.
Favors
Gramercy Park Hotel provided everyone with macarons to take home which was a nice little sweet treat at the end of the evening.
Honeymoon
Honeymoon is TBD until COVID calms down.
