A Sarah Seven Bride for a Rooftop Jewish Wedding at Fremont Foundry, Seattle, Washington, USA

02/09/2019 by Karen Cinnamon

There’s nothing like a rooftop chuppah. The great views, the chill outdoor vibes – they’re just the best. And we’re in love with the setup Rachel, a business integration project manager at Nordstrom, and Elliot, a commercial associate at Bank of America, came up with for their beautiful Seattle Jewish wedding.

Their venue, Fremont Foundry, has the most wonderful rooftop space, and the couple wisely opted for a simple wood chuppah adorned with plenty of greenery and accented by ivory roses – the perfect complement to the view. We can’t get enough of Katie Parra’s gorgeous photos capturing it all.

We also love that rather than going for a traditional guestbook, Rachel and Elliot had a selfie book! They provided a blank book, an InstaMax camera, colorful tape, and markers, and asked that their guests take a selfie, tape it in the book, and write a note to the couple. What a fun idea!

Now over to Rachel, who looked stunning in Sarah Seven…

How we met

Rachel, the bride: We were introduced in high school by our close mutual friend. Our friendship quickly blossomed into a relationship and, eleven years later, we tied the knot!

A Rooftop Wedding

Fremont Foundry was an ideal space for us because of the separate rooftop area. We had our ceremony and cocktail hour on the roof, with dinner and dancing in the main indoor space. This allowed us to take advantage of the warm summer weather, and we did not have to deal with a room flip.

Focus on Greenery

We chose not to select a wedding color, but instead focused on having greenery and a complimentary neutral color scheme. Our invitations, menu, and wedding programs emphasized this, as did the greenery and floral arrangements throughout.

Our planner Holly (Perfectly Posh Events) was excellent in making our vision a reality.

Hair + Makeup

Yessie Libby did hair and makeup for me, my bridesmaids, and the moms.

A Sarah Seven Dress

My dress is from The Dress Theory and was designed by Sarah Seven. Style: Penthouse. I opted to have the dress made in crepe material rather than satin.

Accessories

I wore a veil during the ceremony, which was removed for dinner and dancing. The veil was Stella by Sara Gabriel.

After the ceremony I wore a pin in my hair – Eloise by Untamed Petals.

Badgley Mischka Shoes

I wore Badgley Mischka Gigi crystal pointed toe flats in ivory satin. I chose no heels so I could comfortably mingle and dance!

The handsome groom

The groom and groomsmen wore french blue suits from The Tuxedo Club and their boutonnieres contained small succulents. All the guys wore funky novelty socks that reflected their passions and interests!

Bridesmaids in BHLDN

The bridesmaids wore the Iva crepe maxi dress from BHLDN by Jill Stuart. Although we aren’t normally fans of the color pink, the pop of color looked great with the neutral decor of our wedding and the blue suits on the groomsmen.

Ceremony

We used two tallits, each from one of our grandpas who are no longer with us, to cover the chuppah.

Papercut Ketubah

We selected a papercut ketubah from Jennifer Raichman. We chose the delicate Sprigs design. We wanted something simplistic and beautiful – a piece of art that we would want hung in our home forever. The papercut ketubah design was something I had never seen. There is such detail in the design, but overall neutral and muted.

Our music choice

Processional: ‘Wonderful Tonight’ – Vitamin String Quartet
Recessional: ‘Is This Love’ – Bob Marley
First Dance: ‘Nothing Can Change This Love’ – Sam Cooke

Flowers

We used Leigh and Mitchell as our florist. We chose not to have a wedding color, but instead focused on having greenery and neutral colors. Our florist delivered this with elegant arrangements and greenery throughout – she even added greenery to the strung ceiling lights at the reception.

Photographer

Our photographer was Katie Parra. We chose her because we loved her portfolio and she was very easy to be around. She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera!

Food

Our cake was from The Sweetside. We chose a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting filling. We had a dessert bar as well from our caterer, so we opted for a cake flavor that would complement the other dessert options. The goal of the design was simplicity, while also highlighting some of the greenery that was present throughout our day.

Our caterer for the wedding was Ravishing Radish.

Entertainment.

We had a DJ for the entirety of the day – Bamboo Beats. We wanted everyone dancing the whole night through, and they made that happen!

Local F(l)avors

We left each of our guests a box containing Fran’s dark chocolate salted caramels as part of their place setting. Fran’s is an iconic Seattle confectioner that makes amazing chocolates.

Selfie-book

Instead of the traditional guestbook, we provided a blank book, an InstaMax camera, colorful tape, and markers for our guests. We asked them to take a selfie, tape it in the book, and write us a note. The instant camera was used throughout the entire night, and provided us with some of the best, hilarious, and most authentic scenes from the night!

Honeymoon in Australia

We are taking our belated honeymoon in September in Australia. As part of our trip we will be spending three days and nights on a boat in the Great Barrier Reef where we can go scuba diving 4 times a day! We love to travel and try to look for places that have a great mix of exploration, adventure, and relaxation options.
