There’s something about seeing a couple’s faces as they stand under the chuppah – and when they walk up the aisle after smashing that glass! No matter how many Jewish weddings we see, it never, ever gets old.
And today’s couple, Sophie, a solicitor, and Andrew, a company director, are no exception: the love exuding from each and every single shot by Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor MIKI Studios – not to mention their ultra-moving trailer – makes us feel like our hearts are positively glowing (and we’re totally not surprised to hear the bride’s report that Mick and Ash of MIKI Studios were a dream to work with!).
Indeed, creating a celebration all about love and emotion was at the heart of Sophie and Andrew’s plans for the big day. The emphasis the pair put on their chuppah – from prioritizing fabulous music by a mega-talented Hebrew singer to the beautiful off-white floral and green foliage embellishment they chose for their exquisitely elegant chuppah structure itself – is truly beautiful, and we also love that they opted to hold their ceremony at St John’s Wood Synagogue, where Andrew has attended his whole life – such a wonderful personal touch!
And HOW stunning is Sophie’s Reem Acra gown? Truly the stuff wedding dress dreams are made of.
Now over to you, Sophie!
A Synagogue Wedding
Sophie, the bride: We had our ceremony at St John’s Wood Synagogue followed by dinner and dancing at the Grand Connaught Rooms, London. Andrew has always been a member of St John’s Wood Synagogue and it meant a lot to him to get married there.
Perfectly Planned
We had a great wedding planner who assisted us with the planning and coordinating our wedding day. Our wedding planner was Natasha at Events by Natasha. Our wedding day ran so smoothly thanks to Natasha’s excellent coordination and management.
Invitation
We wanted a traditional and elegant invitation. Our wedding invitation was an off white card with letter press writing in gold. Our invitations and on the day stationery were designed by Paperplain.
Hair + Makeup
My hairdresser Kara Thomas styled my hair and she has been my hairdresser for 15 years. My makeup was by Sarah Rodriguez from Eleanor Nancy Makeup.
A Reem Acra Dress
My wedding dress was by Reem Acra from Browns Bride.
Accessories
I had a pearl hair slide by Simone Rocha and my veil was from Browns Bride.
Shoes
I wore gold Aquazzura shoes with a comfortable heel height!
The handsome groom
Andrew wore a suit by Canali.
Bridal Party
I had my niece as a flower girl and my nephew as page boy. My niece wore an off white dress by Patachou and her shoes were by Papouelli. My nephew wore grey linen shorts and a white shirt.
Ceremony
We had always wanted to have amazing chuppah music for our wedding ceremony. We were at a charity event and we heard an amazing singer on stage performing an beautiful hebrew song and we just knew we wanted him to sing at our wedding ceremony.
We decided to find out who the singer was and he was a lead singer for ‘Moments’ by Muzika. Muzika created the most incredible chuppah music, singing both traditional songs and some songs with a slight twist of contemporary music with traditional hebrew vocals.
Chuppah
We wanted to have white hydrangeas, peonies and roses in off white with green foliage. I wanted the chuppah to look natural full of beautiful flowers and greenery.
Flowers
Our flowers were created by Flowers by Miri. I loved working with Miri, who was amazing and is so talented. I had always wanted white peonies for my bouquet and was lucky as our wedding was at the end of June and peonies were in season.
We wanted to use pale pink and white hydrangeas for the party in large tall gold vases to be full of hydrangeas to complement the room and the gold chairs. Miri used footed gold vases full of pale pink and white hydrangeas for the lower displays and small tea light gold candles.
Photographer and videographer
We had Miki Studios for both videography and photography to capture our wedding day.
Mick and Ash were an incredible team to work with and we loved the photographs and film they captured of our wedding day. Mick and Ash captured every special moment and have given us amazing memories to keep forever, full of emotion and happiness.
Mick had photographed my brother’s wedding the previous year and we were so impressed by the photographs he captured of my brother and sister in law’s wedding day.
Entertainment
The band who performed at our party were the Fire and Ice Showband. They had been recommend to us and were amazing! Kevin Izard was brilliant to work with and his band created the party we had always wanted!
Honeymoon
We went to Mykonos in Greece. It was a total surprise Andrew had planned!
