We love a good Manchester wedding, and Sophie, a teacher, and Adam, a business consultant, had a truly fabulous one! As a proud Mancunian, Sophie always knew she wanted to get married in her hometown – and the Edwardian Radisson’s central location was perfect for giving out-of-town guests a real feel for the city.
Inspired by a holiday in Las Vegas where they loved the Alice in Wonderland theme at the Bellagio conservatory, Sophie and Adam opted for a similar color scheme of teals, pinks, and purples, and we love the way the couple opted to line their aisle with trees for a magical woodland vibe.
Sophie and Adam chose Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Kate Swerdlow to photograph their day, and they couldn’t be more thrilled with their choice – take a scroll through Kate’s beautiful imagery and you’ll see why!

How We Met
Sophie, the bride: We met on Hinge after I saw one of his photos was of him with an elephant. Elephants are my favourite animal so I had to give him a like. Our first date was at Puttshack (mini golf) and the rest is history…

A Manchester Wedding
We got married at the Edwardian Radisson in Manchester. I (Sophie) am from Manchester and I am a very proud Mancunian so I knew I was always going to get married in Manchester. I wanted a city centre location so all my guests knew they were in Manchester!

Alice in Wonderland
During a holiday to Las Vegas we went to the Bellagio conservatory which at the time had an Alice in Wonderland theme with beautiful teals, pinks and purples and I knew those were the colours I wanted for our wedding. We asked Debbie Marks to help us plan and coordinate our wedding and she made my visions come to life.

Dress
I hadn’t given any thought to my dress at the time but I was scrolling on instagram one day and saw a sponsored ad for a dress and I absolutely loved it. It had a square neck which I thought was so beautiful and was exactly what I didn’t know I wanted!
I searched for where I could see this particular dress in person and found a shop not too far from my parents house in Manchester. I tried it on along with some other dresses but I knew that was the one. It was the first dress I tried on and said yes to the dress there and then.

The handsome groom
Adam wore his late grandpa’s tallis during the ceremony which meant a lot to Adam and his family.

Ceremony & Chuppah
I had my beautiful nieces as flower girls who scattered petals down the aisle. Our ceremony was everything I dreamt of. Debbie lined the aisle with trees which made the room look like a woodland and our chuppah was rustic decorated with beautiful flowers.

Our music choice
We had a band called The Distractions who are a Manchester based band. After Debbie suggested them, we watched a few YouTube videos and fell in love with their R&B setlists. We love R&B so knew they would be perfect for our wedding.
They were amazing and so many of our guests came up to us to tell us how much they loved the band. They got everyone up off their seats and at one point had got lots of our guests involved in a conga line!

Flowers
I showed Debbie a bouquet on Instagram that had the colours we had seen on our holiday to Las Vegas. She absolutely nailed it! When she brought my bouquet to me for the first time I couldn’t believe how perfect my flowers were. I am so in love with my flowers I have chosen to preserve them so I can keep them forever.

Photographer and videographer
Kate Swerdlow was suggested by Debbie and we are so happy we chose to have her to capture our day. I knew I wanted the sandstone arches from our venue to feature in our photos and Kate exceeded anything we could have hoped for. Our photos are so beautiful and I am so happy with them.
We didn’t have a videographer but we had content creators specialising in weddings – The Social Socket. Jade and her husband caught so many moments of the day and behind the scenes that we will be able to look back on forever.
