The fabulous Italian Jewish wedding of Hannah and Oscar, who both work in the clothing business and are launching their own jewellery line, combined two of our very favorite styles: Roman luxe and tropical boho.
While the couple’s gorgeous venue, Casali Del Pino, is pure classic Roman splendor, with all the elegance, muted tones, and gently verdant outdoor spaces that entails, their décor was all exotic flowers and enormous topical leaves. Don’t miss the couple’s chuppah in the photos by Roberta Perrone – Hannah and Oscar wanted it to make them feel as if they were standing in the midst of a tropical jungle, and we think they hit the mark exactly right!
We’re also obsessed with Hannah’s stunner of a gown from Galia Lahav, the Georgia dress. As you’d expect from the beloved Israeli designer, it’s uber-glam, and we can’t get enough of the floral detailing, not to mention ALL the sparkles.
We’ll let Hannah fill you in on the rest…
How we Met
Hannah, the bride: We met years ago, when we were little kids during a summer camp in Italy! I arrived from Rome and he arrived from Milan.. it was love at first sight, but it took us a few years to get closer.
A Magical Venue
Casali Del Pino has a beautiful magical atmosphere, as soon as we saw it, we knew that was the place! The space is very big, imagining us under the chuppa in the middle of the amazing landscape convinced us right away!
Tropical Vibes
My dream wedding was desiged by some very special wedding planners: Wedding Made of Scherly Guetta, Micol Guetta and Nicola Carlo Benedetti. They really understood me and my husband straight away, and understood what kind of wedding we wanted: young, fun and full of energy. They created a tropical jungle theme, and used the theme as a line for all the floral productions, the chuppa, and the common spaces.
Casali Del Pino, the location where we got married, was perfect for the kind of mood we chose, as it’s immersed in nature and very big. This gave us the chance to use different spaces with different sets.
Invitations / stationery
All the invites, tableau, religious books had the same floral print, which we had designed and personalised especially for our wedding by a close friend of ours! The invites were three pages squared, where all the guests from abroad could find info about travel tips, hotels information and trips they could do during their stay.
Hair + Make-up
I’m a very last minute person, I like to take everything very easy, maybe too much! I found a stylist on Instagram a week before our wedding. I went to meet him and try out some styles just a few days before the wedding. I had always imagined myself with a low chignon, and an important make up. The amazing Giulio Franzò looked at me and changed the plans! We decided to go with natural loose hair, and a very light make up. I LOVED it!! I had to change hair style and make up during the evening for the traditional Henna party, but we were all having so much fun, I forgot!
A Galia Lahav Dress
The dress was an amazing Galia Lahav piece, the Georgia dress. I had tried maybe 30 dresses, and loved each one of them. Everytime I tried a new dress, I would call my father and ask him if I could buy it. One day, me, my sister and my bridesmaids put the wrong address on Waze by mistake, and ended up in a street we weren’t looking for. We were waking down the street as I saw a wedding dress store, and decided to get in and try some gowns.
Destiny bought me there. The moment I wore THE dress, we all started crying and laughing, and in my heart I saw myself walking the isle with my father, and loved it.
Accessories
All the jewellery I was wearing was my own, pieces me and my husband started to study some years ago, and that will soon be part of our new collection! I was also wearing an amazing light pink veil, signed Galia Lahav.
Shoes
The shoes were extra skyscrapers, an iconic Fendi model, beige colour and I loved them.
The handsome groom
My incredibly handsome man was wearing a white made to measure tuxedo, he looked great, especially with the colours of the surroundings, and considering it was 6pm on the 2nd of September in Rome (warm). After smashing the glass he changed in a traditional black smoking!
Bridesmaids
I did have bridesmaids, and they all looked lovely as they always do. All the women in my family and in my husbands family, my closest friends and bridesmaids had the option to wear any dress they wanted, but either pink, beige or gold.
Ceremony
During the ceremony we had live music playing behind the scenes, and the singers of the synagogue chorus of Rome. The chuppa was a very special moment for me, probably the best of all the evening.
Ketubah
Indeed the ketuba was something very special! It was entirely hand drawn by Jenny Hassan, and was given to us as a gift by one of the bridesmaids.
Chuppah
I LOVE flowers and colours, so there wasn’t much to talk about! 🙂 The chuppa was completely covered with exotic flowers (the same we used in the invites), and I absolutely loved it!
Our Music Choice
We had a quartet from Spain playing during the cocktail. A live music band and the synagogue chorus during the chuppa. An amazing DJ (DJ Panda from Tel Aviv) during the dancing. Shlomit Buchnik during the traditional henna party… so pretty much a lot to dance at!!
Flowers
The florist that helped me is an Italian gentleman. As I said I’m very last minute, so he pretty much helped me a lot!! Stefano Latini of i Tulipani was the one who designed and decided it all!
Photographer and videographer
We had THE BEST PHOTOGRAPHER in the world, Roberta Perrone!! She made sure we were all so relaxed and natural, you could barely notice she took a million amazing pictures! She also won a prize for best wedding pictures. (it was the wppi 2nd place for the best wedding album) She duetted with Alfredo Mareschi, a very very talented videographer. It was his first Jewish wedding, and first big wedding, and he NAILED it!
Food and Cake
Our catering was Pepe Catering, very nice people who couldn’t wait for the wedding almost as much as we did!! We had every kind of food station you can imagine, and e writhing was great! During the henna party we also had typical Arabic food being served, and chai tea. During the dancing after midnight we served ice cream, pop corn and many many nice sweets!
Honeymoon
We used a travel agency: Minviaggi, and travelled all the way to Philippines and Hong Kong and we can’t wait to go again!
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
As I said I’m very easy going, so I loved my wedding and wasn’t stressed about it. I believe that is you arrive to you’re wedding day relaxed and happy, you’ll be able to live every moment of it. The best advice I can give is to notice everybody and really live the party as if it was someone else’s!
