We LOVE a good Australian wedding. Aussies bring a certain sophistication and luxe look that we absolutely adore – they really know how to do it Down Under, and Den and Eden’s Jewish wedding was no exception!
With their loved ones at the forefront of this caring couple’s mind, the pair had their Jewish ceremony in a close friend’s back garden, before a glamorous reception at the iconic and impressive National Gallery of Victoria.
As luck would have it, bride Den’s mother is an event planner, and was on hand throughout the process to bring everything together. The family-focused couple also adorned their chuppah with the tallit of three of their grandfathers, who had passed away, which we think is a beautiful way to honor lost loved ones during the chuppah service.
Beautiful bride Den looked sensational in her fashion-forward, form-fitting lace illusion Elly Sofolci Couture gown. With her bridesmaids all in ivory, holding tumbling bouquets of exotic flowers, the entire aesthetic was so on point that we actually can’t stop staring.
Den and Eden also provided a little extra entertainment to their guests, in the form of powerhouse violinist, Sally Cooper, whose sublime work you can see on YouTube. The room must have been simply electric!
Not one, but TWO fabulous Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendors were responsible for capturing the big day. Jeremy Blode put his phenomenal photography skills to work, creating a stunning set of images, while videographer Moon & Back created the romantic, cinematic wedding trailer below.
And now that we’ve prepared you for your dose of wedding pretty, it’s time to leave the blog in Den’s good hands for the writeup of her and Eden’s big day!
How we met
Den, the bride: We were introduced by a mutual friend, who we owe a beer or two.
An iconic Melbourne venue
We always envisioned our wedding to be outdoors, but as Melbourne’s weather is so unpredictable, we didn’t want to risk it. As a compromise, we had our chuppah in our family friend’s magnificent garden.
The reception was at the National Gallery of Victoria, an iconic venue known for its stained glass ceiling – all you need for dà©cor!
Family first
Given we both have a strong emphasis on family, we wanted everyone to be involved along the way. We are also super lucky that my mother is an events planner. She is definitely the one to thank for her tireless efforts and making our day perfect.
A divine designer dress
My dress was designed by Elly Sofolci Couture. Elly was gorgeous to work with and made the process stress-free and so enjoyable.
Natural hair and makeup
My hair and makeup was by Monica Gingold. I was adamant to look natural and feel as much like myself as possible – she totally nailed it!
The handsome groom
Eden was dressed by P Johnson Tailors and looked sharp as ever!
Bridesmaids in ivory
I had my sisters and sister in laws, as I always want them as close to me as possible. They were told to find anything they were comfortable in, in white/ivory teamed back with silver shoes. They all looked absolutely stunning!
A chuppah to honor family
For our chuppah, we used a modern structure within the garden space, but incorporated a traditional and sentimental touch, using the tallit of our three late grandfathers.
A hora followed by hip hop
Following a modern rendition and epic horas by the band Isaiah, we wanted it to turn into a party! There was really only one choice… getting a DJ on board to play hip hop!
Phenomenal flowers
The girls at Ivy & Eve flowers made our vision come to life. We trusted them wholeheartedly and wanted to be surprised on the day. We were absolutely blown away by what they created and couldn’t have been happier.
A sensational violinist
We had Sally Cooper take the violin to a whole new level. Check her out on YouTube — compelling viewing!
Our fabulous photographer and videographer
We used Jeremy Blode Photography and Moon & Back to capture our special day. Their talent, combined with their casual, easy going nature, made the day run smoothly and has left us with our favourite images and video footage, capturing emotion and the atmosphere of the day.
Advice to couples currently planning their own wedding
Try take a moment together to stop, look around and take it all in. Everyone is there to celebrate you two – it’s so humbling, overwhelming and special all at the same time.
