Israeli couple Hila and Tamir wanted the magic of their Jewish wedding to last more than a few hours – and so they decided to make a magical destination weekend of it! With the help of their fantastic planner, Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Moran Goldstein, the couple settled on Limassol, Cyprus, a breathtakingly beautiful spot just a 30-minute flight from Tel Aviv.
The celebration was spread out over four days, with different activities each day – including fun stuff like a boat trip to a blue lagoon (complete with DJ!) and a pool party – with the centerpiece being Hila and Tamir’s gorgeous oceanfront outdoor ceremony. We love that the pair had two of their best friends officiate, and instead of the traditional Seven Blessings, they had friends and relatives come up and give brief original speeches.
We’re in love with photographer Chen Belachnes’s vibrant images, and we bet you will be too.
Now over to Hila…
How we Met
Hila, the bride: We met at a 24h cross-country relay race.
Wedding Weekend
We wanted an event that would be different and would last more than a few hours. The idea of taking our family and friends with us on a long magical party weekend was much more appealing than the traditional ceremonies and parties we have seen around.
Cyprus was an easy choice: 30-minutes flight away, great attractions and reasonable costs. Since the wedding was spread over 4 days, each day was a different celebration at a different location. For the pool party we used our hotel’s pool which was decorated to give the guests the feeling of fun and freedom without concern about time limit.
The wedding was held at Nautical Club, close to Larnaca, the place is situated right on the sea shore and gave us the feeling and atmosphere we were looking for. The last day was a blast with a 5 hour boat trip to the blue lagoon, combined with DJ, food and lots of fun activities for the guests.
Cyprus Style
The wedding theme was Cyprus style. From the fresh flowers, decoration and the amazing local food that was served.
Ceremony
The ceremony was held right on the sea shore and was conducted by our 2 best friends. For the 7 blessings, each family member and friends gave a touching/funny/memorable speech.
Our Music Choice
Although the wedding was held in Cyprus, we wanted Israeli style music and therefore we booked an amazing DJ, DJ Ifty, from Israel for the entire weekend. He mixed Israeli music with small touches of local music.
Photographer and videographer
Both photographer Chen Belachnes and videographer Vladimir Tkach are from Israel and were booked for the entire weekend. They did an amazing job capturing all the right moments and the drone shots are no less the perfect.
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
If you are looking for something different, something that will amaze your guests, then without a doubt you should think about doing a wedding in Cyprus. The nice people, the food, the feeling of complete freedom is something the guests (and you) will never forget.
