We love seeing the choices wedding professionals make when it comes to planning their own Jewish weddings. And today’s is doubly a treat, because it features not one but two fabulous wedding pros: bride Beverly is a wedding planner and groom Lane is a floral designer at Dalsimer Atlas.
Given that they both work in the wedding industry, Beverly and Lane knew they wanted to do something a bit different than what they do for our clients. They decided to think outside the box by turning the traditional reception into a full-blown party with decor reminiscent of an Italian countryside with modern flair.
Needless to say, the floral design by the groom was especially fabulous, featuring abundant greenery, elegant foliage, white peonies, and plenty of candlelight. Lane also designed the couple’s uber-unique chuppah, with natural wood posts and tons of greenery and hanging calla lilies. Don’t miss it in the wonderful images from Munoz Photography and trailer by Senderey Video Productions!
When it came to choosing their ketubah, there was never any question for Beverly and Lane that they’d work with Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Nava Shoham at 1800ketubah.com. Nava customized her “Power of Love” ketubah for the duo, and they couldn’t be more thrilled with the result.
There’s so much more to say about this very special wedding – like, how stylish did Beverly look in her TWO fabulous bridal outfits, ceremony by Katy Corso and reception by Sasha Krasnova Design?! – but we’ll let the bride take it from here…
How We Met
Beverly, the bride: I’m a wedding planner and he’s a floral designer, so naturally we met doing what we both love to do. The Dalsimer Atlas Floral & Event Decorators showroom is where our love bloomed (literally). We create “happily ever afters” for everyone else and now we finally had our own.
A Sentimental Venue
We got married at Congregation B’nai Israel in Boca Raton, Florida. We work there often together and absolutely adore the caterer, so it became a very sentimental space.
When the Bride Is a Wedding Planner
Being the wedding planner, and my groom the floral decorator, the expectation was extremely high, so we wanted to do something a bit different than what we do for our clients while being true to us. We went outside the box by turning the traditional reception into a full-blown party with decor that was reminiscent of an Italian countryside with a modern flair.
Needless to say, it had an abundance of greenery in addition to contemporary furnishings to create a loungy feel from Event Effects with linens from Over the top rental linens.
Invitation
My graphic goddess, Bakery Babes Graphics Kitchen, customized our invitation from Designer’s Fine Press and then created our cocktail napkins, guest towels, hospitality cards, signature drink signs, and kippahs.
Hair + Makeup
My glam team, Ultimate Bridal Beauty, is always there for my clients, so of course they were there for me!
A Katy Corso Dress
The dress! This was something special and one I flew to Chicago to obtain. Katy Corso was the designer and it totally reflected me. No one had seen anything like it. It was if she made this just for me ~ half dress/ half jumpsuit! Totally unique and totally me!
However, I changed into my second look for my first dance late into the night. This look was a custom ensemble designed by Sasha Krasnova Design which was just another perfect piece added to my wedding wardrobe story.
Shoes
Both pairs of my shoes were from Stuart Weitzman!
Bridesmaids
Our girls chose black gowns from local boutiques and Revolve website.
Ceremony & Chuppah
The ceremony was the most special part (and always is) and ours was extremely exceptional. We wanted something we hadn’t done before in any of our other weddings, so together my talented husband designed a most unique chuppah with natural wood posts and tons of greenery and hanging calla lilies.
It was complemented by a mirror aisle which literally reflected exactly what we wanted. However, the most special touch were our vows as we had written our own and our grown children standing with us.
Ketubah
The ketubah! This was the first thing we were certain of! We contacted and contracted the fabulous Nava Shoham at 1800ketubah.com to customize her “Power of Love” ketubah for us… again, another important and significant part of our BIG day. This beautiful artwork is a reminder each day of “the power of love”.
Our music choice
Being a planner, I was torn as I work with so many amazing music vendors. So, what was this planner to do but utilize so many components and genres. For the ceremony, we had a hazan singer and his orchestra since we wanted to add even more meaning to the ceremony. The voice of Mark Levine gave everyone goosebumps!
For our cocktail hour, we wanted a “supper-club” vibe, so a pianist played all the standards such as Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr., and Michael Bublé. But when we opened the ballroom, we had a rock concert turned disco with the one-and-only Private Stock Band. The traditional hora was anything but that… the band played along with a special guest singing a very special hora.
I challenged the amazingly talented Sean Green to choreograph our epic first dance which was a “mashup” of three iconic Bee Gees songs and Extreme Productions was sure to keep the dance floor lit with cold sparks all night!
Flowers
My husband, Dalsimer Atlas, used an abundant amount of greenery such as an assortment of elegant foliage which included ferns, springeri, sword fern, amaranthus, huckleberry, dianthus (green trick) in addition to white roses, orchids, hydrangea, matthiola, and calla lillies, along with plenty of candlelight, while white peonies made up the bridal bouquet.
Photographer and videographer
Munoz Photography and Senderey Video Productions captured every minute. These are a couple of South Florida’s very best in the business who are “friendors” to us, plus they go “way back” with my husband, so they had to capture such a special day.
Food and cake
VIP Caterers always do an outrageous job with their insane cocktail hour, creative displays, and food creations. Of course, they raised the bar (literally) for our event. The Bourbon & Bacon Station (kosher) was a hit, but their signature dessert parade always steals the show. Our custom designed multi-tier cannoli cake by Sweet guilt by Angelica was also beyond our wildest dreams.
Extra Details
The entire day was so special, and we couldn’t do it without all our trusted resources. Other crucial components were my bridal valet Bless the Dress as well as my go-to transportation Transit Boss.
Honeymoon
We spent 2 weeks in Italy traveling throughout Tuscany, Florence, The Amalfi Coast, and Rome and another week in Israel. We cannot thank our honeymoon travel agent, WAC travel enough as she allowed us to show up to our honeymoon like our brides show up to their wedding.
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding
Trust your planner and trust the process. The planning may seem like forever, but the day goes really quickly so be sure to stop and take it all in and just have fun!
