A Super Luxe Laduree-Fuelled Interfaith Jew-ish Wedding at the Shangri-La, Paris, France

20/04/2018 by Karen Cinnamon

Jewish wedding Shangri-La Paris France_0028
There’s SO MUCH to love about today’s stunner of a Jew-ish wedding, but I’m particularly obsessed with how they incorporated one of my all-time favorite patisseries into their day…

New York-based Melissa, who works in luxury marketing, and William, in finance, opted to wed in Paris, where William lived for many years. The city played an important part in the development of their relationship — as did one of its most delicious exports, Laduree.

Known for the tastiest macarons around (seriously, once you try one of theirs you won’t want to bother with any others), as well as exemplary presentations of classic French pastry, Laduree has long been a favorite Parisian haunt of the couple’s. So much so that when William proposed — in the City of Love, naturally — he did so over a bag of Laduree goodies (seriously, we love this guy!).

In a nod to their engagement, the pair opted to forgo cake in favor of something quintessentially French: a croquembouche. But not just any croquembouche. A rose lychee flavored croquembouche from Laduree. I’m positively drooling over here just thinking about it!

Instead of a traditional guest book, Melissa and William asked their guests to sign a Laduree macaron book. Each page featured a different flavor, and guests could choose one to sign. Oh, and the favors? Laduree macarons, in a selection of the bride and groom’s favorite flavors.

Even their venue, the mega-opulent Grand Salon at the Shangri-La Hotel, kind of resembles one of Laduree’s beautiful salons (although unlike my local Laduree, the Shangri-La comes complete with a straight-on view of the Eiffel Tower). The place is just dripping with old-school Parisian glamour.

Claire Morris Photography and videographer Zen Film Works captured the day beautifully — you’ve got to see the portraits of the couple at iconic spots all around Paris.

It was important to Melissa, who is Jewish, and William, raised Catholic, to find a ketubah vendor who offered texts suitable for interfaith couples, and they ended up with a beautiful papercut from Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Ketubah.com.

Now I’ll turn you over to Melissa could not have looked more elegant in her showstopper of a gown, custom designed for her by Sharon Wilkes (who we adore, and just happens to her best friend’s mother).

How we met

Melissa, the bride: We originally met in the summer of 2006, while we were both participating in a summer pre-college program at Georgetown University following our junior year of high school. As I was from New York and William was from Paris, seeing each other after the program was quite unlikely, but we were smitten with each other.

We kept in touch on and off for the next 5 years, and resumed speaking after a long hiatus around February 2011 when William, who was working in finance but had retained his teenage passion for writing, had written a short story and asked me for my thoughts.

In May of 2011, I had just graduated early from university and was traveling through Europe, while William was on a summer break from his master’s program in Paris. William asked me to meet him for a spontaneous trip in southern Spain, and I said no at first, nervous about seeing him after all those years.

But in my heart I felt that I should go, and a few weeks later I flew to meet him in Andalusia, where we spent five days traveling together and began to fall in love. After the trip, we decided to give things a real shot and began dating long distance. This lasted for four years, with me in New York and William in Paris and London, before William could finally move to New York in June 2015.

A Carolina Herrera Bride for a Super Elegant Jewish Wedding at Capesthorne Hall, Cheshire, UK

12/03/2018 by Karen

Jewish wedding Capesthorne Hall in Cheshire, UK_0066

Oh my goodness, this is one elegant Jewish wedding. Lauren who works in public relations, and Ross, a chartered surveyor, wanted the day to reflect all the best elements of a classic English wedding with a contemporary twist.

The couple chose Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor Jenna Keller as their wedding planner (who is offering an exclusive 10% discount to all our VIB Club members!) and she helped them bring their super glam vision to life at Capesthorne Hall, a beautiful stately home in Cheshire.

We just love a floral chuppah, and Jenna came up with just the chicest variation! Lauren wanted something unique but not over-the-top, and the refined white floral canopy atop translucent poles set against the all-white marquee fits the bill exactly. It’s contemporary while embracing tradition, sophisticated and refined, just like the rest of this wedding.

To make their ceremony even more special, Lauren and Ross booked much-loved STG Recommended Vendor Boutique Chupah Music, adding to the emotional and intimate atmosphere.

Planner Jenna pointed the pair toward their wonderful photographer, Robert Shack. He did an amazing job of capturing their glamorous day, and videographer Rebecca Reville caught the festivities in live action.

Speaking of things that are glamorous, isn’t Lauren’s lace gown exquisite? It fits her like a glove, and that train! She found her Carolina Herrera stunner at yet another fabulous STG Recommended Vendor The Wedding Club in London–but she almost missed out on the dress of her dreams. At the end of a long day of shopping, Lauren was ready to call it quits after having found solid gown options at the first three of four appointments she had scheduled.

Her mum encouraged her not to cancel that final appointment, though, and luckily Lauren listened, because the very first dress her Wedding Club stylist brought out for her turned out to be the one. This goes to show that it’s always worth taking the time to check out that one last shop (or venue, or any vendor really), because you just never know where you’ll find the one! Now over to the bride herself . . .

How we met

Lauren, the bride: We first met at Habonim Dror Winter Camp in 2007 when we were both camp leaders. I remember getting on so well; however nothing romantic happened at the time!

We met again in 2011 at Birmingham City University. We were both in the same halls and decided to join forces for drinks one night during freshers’ week. We have been together ever since!Continue ReadingContinue Reading

An Ines di Santo Bride for a Classic and Timeless Super Luxe Jewish Wedding at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, California, USA

05/02/2018 by Karen

Jewish Wedding Four-Seasons-West-Lake-Village USA_0011
What happens when some of LA’s, scratch that – the world’s finest wedding vendors come together? A visual feast of classically elegant wedding wonderment, that’s what! Alina and Raphael’s super luxe Jewish wedding was the very definition of what a divine wedding looks like – down to every last detail.

Let’s start with bride Alina’s sophisticated and timeless style. She looked straight off the red carpet in her breathtaking off-the-shoulder Ines di Santo gown. We had the immense pleasure of interviewing Ines Di Santo for a Facebook Live, which is an absolute must watch if, like us, you’ve fallen in love with her work.

We have also featured outstanding florist Butterfly Floral in several past real weddings, and, as you can see from that INSANE ethereal garden-look chuppah, there’s a very good reason for that.

A wedding this spectacular could only have been brought together by a top-tier planner, and they don’t make ’em better than the unstoppable Delicate Details who, you’ve guessed it, has featured on the STG pages several times before (and is also offering all our STG Members Club Brides an exclusive 10% discount!). I think we can all agree that Maryam outdid herself!

It’s also very hard to do capturing a wedding of this calibre justice, but just LOOK at these absolutely phenomenal images by ridiculously talented photographers Lin & Jirsa (also offering our STG Members Club Brides a very special gift!). Everything is amazing about this big day, but those under-the-chuppah shots are out of this world!

We’ll leave you now with Alina’s awesome write up. A warning – you are going to want to steal every single detail about this stunner of a wedding.

A Galia Lahav Bride for a Super Luxe White and Gold Jewish Wedding at The Four Seasons Westlake Village, California, USA

29/01/2018 by Karen

Jewish-Wedding-The-Four-Seasons-Westlake-Village-California-USA
Wow, wow, WOW! That’s our unfiltered reaction to Sepi and Omid’s absolutely breathtaking, super luxe Jewish wedding.

Everything about this divine big day is eye-poppingly gorgeous. Dramatic dà©cor details, fashion-forward choices, a perspex and floral showstopper of a chuppah – there is SO much to love about Sepi and Omid’s white and gold-themed wedding that we barely know where to start!

The wedding was held at the very glamorous Four Seasons Westlake Village. A classic venue with such diverse areas — all perfect photography backdrops. The awe-inspiring ballroom with its chandeliers lent itself perfectly to the elegant theme, created by phenomenal wedding planner, Maryam at Delicate Details, who brought the couple’s vision to life with expert skill, and provided the writeup below. We’ve featured Maryam’s work on the blog in the past and we never fail to be blown away by what she does. Absolutely second to none.

We NEED to talk about bride Sepi’s mesmerisingly beautiful Galia Lahav gown. Those beads – that train!! Sepi genuinely looked like a million bucks – just a vision of bridal beauty.

We are HUGE Galia Lahav fans and we’re delighted to have chief designer, Sharon Sever, as one of the headline speakers at our incredible Smashing Summit this Wednesday 31st January. OMG — save your (free!) seat here!

It’s also not often we obsess over the groom’s shoes, but check out Omid’s amazing Christian Louboutin shoes – if you’re going to smash a glass, do it in style.

The ridiculously great photography was provided by another of our Smashing Summit headline speakers (we can’t overemphasise how excited we are about this lineup!) — Duke Photography. We could gush about his work for days, but really the pictures speak for themselves – we know you’ll just fall in love with them.

We’ll pass you over to Maryam now for her writeup of Sepi and Omid’s gorgeous celebration. Prepare yourselves – this one will really take your breath away… adnd enjoy the wonderful film by Wind Productions below too!

A venue to fall in love with

Maryam, the wedding planner: The Four Seasons Westlake Village offered the most glamorous setting. They fell in love the with waterfall backdrop for the ceremony and the gorgeous crystal chandeliers in the ballroom.

A Magical and Romantic Destination Jewish Wedding at Bait Al Hayam, Tel Aviv, Israel

24/01/2018 by Karen

Jewish Wedding Bait Al Hayam, Tel Aviv, Israel_0040
What would you do if, at the last minute, your ceremony venue fell through? That’s the scenario that Nicole and Jason found themselves facing. But instead of giving up, the resilient pair recreated their original choice, bringing the amphitheatre they had originally wanted to them. This resourcefulness in the face of a challenge truly shows how ready they are for anything life might throw at them.

It also shows that they had an absolute genius of a planner to bring the whole production together – KBY Designs. Honestly, we are in awe.

New York couple, Nicole and Jason chose to have their Jewish wedding day in Israel, just days away from the groom’s brother’s wedding (Melissa and Alexander’s amazing wedding will be published here on Friday!). Having the two weddings back to back meant that overlapping guests could extend their stay and save on time and money travelling back and forward. What a wonderful idea and such happy time for the family!

The two couples even shared a DJ and a photographer – and given that their photographer was none other than incredible Smashing The Glass Recommended Vendor, the one and only Ran Bergman. His incredible spread of images really captures the magic of the day.

There’s so much to love about this extraordinarily moving wedding – we especially adore the way that Nicole describes the ceremony. It sounded absolutely spine-chilling, and everything you would want a ceremony to be.

Bride Nicole chose a stunning Amsale gown, with features reminiscent of Kate Middleton’s iconic gown. She is also a freelance writer in her spare time, which is evident in her fabulous writeup below, so without further ado, please welcome Nicole to fill you in on her and Jason’s wedding planning story.

How we met

Nicole, the bride: We met through a mutual friend (the groom’s stepbrother) in Miami, but a lot of people, specifically the stepfather, like to argue on who gets credit for the match.

Both born and bred in New York, Jason is from Manhattan and I grew up in Great Neck, Long Island. After Jason’s internship ended in Shanghai, he moved to Miami to continue his hospitality career while I went to pursue my Master’s degree at the University of Miami for Print Journalism.

We officially met in 2011 and started out as friends (and…co-workers, scandalous!). After a wild night in South Beach (June 25, 2012), we admitted our chemistry was undeniable. I paid a toll by sealing the night with a kiss — an inside joke for us and now, the family – the rest was history.

After a long, romantic night filled with teasing and guessing, Jason popped the question in our Miami Beach home on December 18, 2015. A week after, we celebrated our engagement on holiday in San Francisco.

After five years together, we got married in Tel Aviv on June 29, 2017 (just four days away from our dating anniversary).
